Wearing gloves while using a jigsaw cutting sheet metal is a no brainer, metal is hot as you state and edges are very sharp when you need to hold or move the piece around. " may get sucked up in the jigsaw " ...what the biscuit? If you you suck up a glove while using a jigsaw you obviously have your fingers to close to the blade and probably need to re read your owners manual ! And while safety glasses are good Google's are even better as metal shards tend to fly off one's forehead or cheeks and bounce off and go under the glasses and into the eyes. Great vid as always!

Love how you two bounce of each other 👍🏼 I started fulltime living in my Sprinter with just the 2 rear barn door windows and a Dometic Heki skylight in the roof but a few months in added an opening window to the sliding door and don’t regret it. Being able to see outside and the natural light is great. Plus Ventilation is far more important here in Australia with our warm climate than worrying about losing heat. Btw here in Australia vans are called Wizzbangers and caravans Wobble Boxes 😆

Stealth isn't. You will be much more happy with window than you would have been with the stealth you would not have gotten anyway. Plus Rocky will be able to look at the sky. Our floors will be heated with glycol lines which will also provide us with hot air and hot water. We're still working on getting it all together, but so far so good!

Also, old school machinists always taught you to file in one direction, but I recently saw a video where someone tested this hypothesis to see if it dulls down over time... And it doesn't. So, filing both directions is fine - although all the internet people think otherwise.

If you were trying to keep it stealth(ish) I wonder how 1-way perforated window film would look. Like the kind they print advertisements on but just keeping it white so the window blends in with the rest of the vehicle

I don't think you'd be able to open it from the outside, but the latch is a little weird. It's just a metal flap you put in place. It seems to hold up though

One question though, it appears that cutting out the entire opening results in a lot of blacked out glass exposure. To do it again would you still do it the same way or try to cut the metal out closer to the tracks and functional glass? Thanks again,

I can't even dream of being stealthy, so I crammed in all the windows, all with screens, 'cause air flow is life. Sadly, I accidentally crushed my little plant baby, and am currently failing to water the replacement. #badplantmom

After a year since install we still really like it! No issues so far, and it's nice to have the screen or fully open without the screen option. We use it for air flow often
Im 98% sure we only used one tube and it came with our window, we just had to buy the primer ourselves. But i would check with your window distributor, most will send adhesive

We do really like the window! We open is a lot when we are just parked and working. Having one across from the other would definitely allow for a good cross breeze and a lot of natural light, but it would also be two large areas that arent insulated. I guess it depends what type of climate you're in. One big window and a ceiling fan also work pretty well. I think it's a lot of personal preference, the layout of the interior of your van, and the climates you'll be travelling to/living in. Investing in good blackouts help with the cold and heat loss.
@@dogcatmanvan yes forsure, makes sense. It’s hard to weigh the pros and cons of the various setups. I foresee being in both 95 degree climates and 20 degree climates in the next year lol. I’m glad to hear that 1 window plus a fan might be enough for good ventilation !

I prefer skylights. Guess I’m more stealthy.
I was thinking the same. Similar to small sun tunnel size ones ? 2 small round ones on each end so it doesn't steal solar panel space ?
How do you reinforce the roof? Considering the holes for the skylights and fan now.

Just kidding. It looked like a fine install to me. It's a damn nice window, and I certainly hope it's worth the 600 bucks (plus shipping) as it really does look nice and professional. So long and your interior trim goes on well, I don't foresee how there could ever be a problem with this window or your install.

How do you like the sliding window after a few months of use? Any leaks or drafts noticeable?
I am considering these but not sure if I go for the fixed version or the sliding variant.
I really like having this style of window and we haven't experienced any leaks or drafts. It's sealed nice and tight.
