Having the range like Sohyang doesn't mean can sing like her. Technique is not all about range. The great vocalist who has the similar vocal range with Sohyang cannot sing her renditions. The ease in the projections, transitions, everything make Sohyang THE VOCALIST of our time.
@@vocalenthusiastic nah, she's only good in the fifth and sixth octaves. Her chest voice is weak and lacks development, which is the reason why her lows are so airy and poorly projected and mid belts are very heady even for a high soprano.
I feel like heady mix users tend to sound similar with each other as they go into higher notes, than balanced mix users. Maybe because there are more head voice added and less of their own chest voice? Like Celion and Sohyang sound different in their every notes, but Park Kiyoung and Yung Sung sounds very similar in their high mix.
Yun Sung is incredible her placement is so amazing up to around G5/G#5 and some awesome moments above that. But what makes Sohyang the superior belter is the fact that she can do everything Yun can do but with more ease, more resonance her vibrato is more consistent and she when she modulates she never thins out. This is one of my favourite vocal battles ever. I love this video and both women. I'm definitely gonna keep my eye on Yun Sung. Her ability to phrase and sustain are undeniable. Same with Sohyang. Queens 👸

I would love to see a battle between Park Ki Young and that singer that was against Sohyang. They both sing rock, sing in a heady mix, sustain the lower and friking high fifth octave and sixth and both strain before E5. Fedsax98 make that happen!!!
Yun sung really impressed me but I choose SoHyang, she has more ease, you start noticing more from F#5 but it has always been there, and then at A5 it becames obvious, like omg the B5 section 😩👌
Both are SERIOUSLY amazing. I just prefer SoHyang since her belts are may be very powerful, but there's still that soft spot that makes her voice resonate throughout your whole body. Yun Sung is great also, don't get me wrong, but her belts are linear to power > resonance. It's kind of like; SoHyang has a smoother voice and Yun Sung has a impactful voice. I still love them both nonetheless, huge respect!

No doubt but sohyang has more power when it comes to belting specially in (A5,Bb5,B5,C6,) but this second girl sounds like more Heady while sohyang uses Mix voice

They’re both terrific vocalists, they both supported B5 at least once and can produce massive resonance at least to Eb5, but I feel Sohyang has the best ring quality in history. The way her twang, dynamics and diaphragm come together and make the most beautiful sound that a human can produced, also, Yun Sung stylistically use unnecessary tension (for the ones that don’t know, she’s a rock based vocalist) and that growls… she’s gonna loose all her strength if she keeps using her throat on almost all her vocal decorations and ornamentations.
I mean, not neccessarily. There's a way to use distortion without hurting yourself. The video called "Donna Missal vlips that make me gay(er)" is a pretty good example. Donna goes *heavy* with her distortion, but she's never lost her quality because she uses back-pressure instead of connection disruption.
Nope, the girl keeps being more heady as the note goes higher. No one comes close to So Hyang in terms of balancing. Nevertheless, the girl is still great and has good technique. I agree to others that the better comparison to the girl is Park Ki Young. I think their style is 90% similar 🙃
The reason why she sounds so heady is actually because her belts are chest dominant and rely pretty heavily on the laryngopharynx along with a neutral larynx, both of which make your voice sound darker especially when in head-voice. Sohyang has more "balanced" belts because she doesn't rely on the laryngopharynx much at all (even on the lower notes) so her brighte, higher notes blend much more seemlessly with her lower ones.

I heard Yun Sung since your last video, I inmediatly went to search for her because she is super powerful. But my heart goes to So Hyang. Actualy there are few singers who can mix (properly) aa whole octave like So Hyang, Cristina Ramos, Monica Naranjo, and maybe Katrina Velarde, Paulette, Park ki... All of them amazing singers. Sohyang é Sohyang, a outra canta muito bem e está de parabéns, mas minha queen tem um brilho diferenciado de todas as outras cantoras, e pra mim é isso.
Honestly, both of them sound great. Yun Sung's approach allow her to sound like she output more and has more drive in the "lower" parts of the video than Sohyang, but at the higher end, she does sound more muffled. More than Sohyang, I think she is what Park Ki Young would be without the major tension problem. They have the same muffled, yet piercing quality in their upper range. Also it's fine to like Sohyang more because she sounds less gritty and is more technically polished, but some people here seems to have trouble traversing the line of liking one over the other without crossing towards straight up devaluing the other. In her own rights, YunSung is a great vocalist, and definitely doesn't sound like a beginner, even when put side by side with Sohyang.
Just at G5-Bb5, you can hear a lot of differences Sohyang's more Solid. Also, it's very weird how she's not putting effort in her D5, she's just opening her mouth.

오늘 윤성님 노래들 찾아서 듣다가 여기까지 왔습니다. 개인적으로 고음은 윤성님의 시원함이 더욱 취향인데 저음 중음의 임팩트는 소향님을 못따라감 그외 보컬스킬들도 모두 소향 압승. 두분 노래 왠만한건 다 들어왔는데 소향님의 노래는 처음부터 끝까지 거를 타선이 없음.반면 윤성님은 중저음에서 약간 불안해보이고 밋밋함
Not gonna talk about the technical cause I don't understand it, but both are great. I prefer Sohyang because it sounds more subtle and pleasing to me. If I were in the mood for something in your face, definitely Yun Sung.

취향도르 떠나면 소향이 확실히 소리가 더 열려있고 공명감, 파워에서 앞서는데 그걸 떠나서 컨트롤 수준에서 넘사임 그냥.. 윤성의 고음이 굉장히 얇고 헤디한건 그냥 장르 차이라 쳐도 소향이 가져가는 강약과 볼륨 다이나믹 컨트롤은 흉내조차 낼 수 없지. 단순 비브라토 테크닉만 비교해도 안정감부터가 다르고ㅋㅋ
발성의 차이가 큰이유겠죠....
메탈 락 발성에 성악 호흡법이 윤성님이고... 소향님은 체스트와 해드보이스... 그외 엄청난 기교~~

Try Elyse Bell. She's a classically trained musical theatre singer, but she has a pretty versitile voice when it comes to genre.
So Hyang is better. Her voice is more balanced. I enjoy listerning to her. The voice of the second singer is sharper and more unpleasant.

..... 대한민국에선 아무도 이 둘을 비교하지 않아요. 윤성님은 언더그라운드 락보컬리스트 입니다. 락보컬이지만 톤이 가볍고 높게 올라가는. 샤우팅 창법을 사용합니다. 소향님은 고음에서 상대적으로 더 낮은 포지션에서 소리를 내보냅니다. 더욱 더 다양한 창법을 사용하고 있습니다. 그들은 비교대상이 아닙니다. 단지 고음에 초점을 두는건 무리가 있습니다.
윤성은 헤디하게 포지션을 선택하고 있기 때문에 상대적으로 쉽게 고음을 내는 것으로 보이죠. 가창에 있어 비교 불가한 영역이 아닙니다. 소향도 이전에 건강에 문제가 있을 때 (폐렴) 상당히 헤디한 소리를 가져갔었죠. 폐렴 이전 또는 현재의 소향처럼 밸런스 있는 소리를 가져가는 것이 분명 더 난이도를 요구하는 테크닉입니다.
그리고 이 테크닉이 단순히 난이도만 요구하는 게 아닌 소리의 질와 성대 건강에 대해서도 분명 이점이 있네요. 윤성에 비해 성대 접촉률을 높게 가져가기 때문에 고음의 dynamic함이 뛰어나고, 상대적으로 결절에 취약할 수 있는 헤디한 발성보다 더욱 성대 건강을 챙길 수 있죠.

Yun Sung is clearly talented, but Sohyang is legendary
No diría la nueva so hyang, yun song tiene muy buenos agudos, pero creo que su manera de ejecutarlos se parece más al de Park Ki Young, resuenan más en la cabeza y la de so hyang, es más balanceada, pero aún así, las dos son excelentes 🙌

Sohyang é Sohyang, a outra canta muito bem e está de parabéns, mas minha queen tem um brilho diferenciado de todas as outras cantoras, e pra mim é isso.
윤성은 락적인게 베이스라 가성 질감이 강하고 소향은 휘트니, 셀린 같은 클래시컬 디바 타입이라 고음역까지 열려있고 음압이 계속 살아있는 타입.. 애초에 전혀 다름
ㅇㅇ 윤성은 날카롭고 얇은 고음, 소향은 풍성한 공명감을 가져가는 파워풀한 고음
단순히 그것만도 아니고 그냥 컨트롤 수준에서.. 차이가 큼
일단 다 떠나서 소향이 듣기에 훨씬 깔끔하고 맑은데 심지어 더 파워풀하고 공명강이랑 비브라토도 더 잘씀..ㅋㅋ 거기다 복잡한 아르페지오 런이나 크레센도 같은 다이나믹 테크닉까지 들어가면 난도는 사실 비교불가 수준의 격차로 벌어짐

Honestly, both of them sound great. Yun Sung's approach allow her to sound like she output more and has more drive in the "lower" parts of the video than Sohyang, but at the higher end, she does sound more muffled.
More than Sohyang, I think she is what Park Ki Young would be without the major tension problem. They have the same muffled, yet piercing quality in their upper range.
Also it's fine to like Sohyang more because she sounds less gritty and is more technically polished, but some people here seems to have trouble traversing the line of liking one over the other without crossing towards straight up devaluing the other. In her own rights, YunSung is a great vocalist, and definitely doesn't sound like a beginner, even when put side by side with Sohyang.
Simply reaching high notes doesn't make you Sohyang...

I didn't know Yun sung she is good 🔥 BUT for me she sounds less powerful I think she uses a more heady placement than Sohyang which is easier...yet impresive vocals.

ㅋㅋㅋ 기술적으로 누가 더 잘하는가는 일반인으로써 잘 모르겠고 소향노래를 들었을때 좀더 편하고 카타르시스가 느껴지긴 하네요.

오늘 윤성님 노래들 찾아서 듣다가 여기까지 왔습니다. 개인적으로 고음은 윤성님의 시원함이 더욱 취향인데 저음 중음의 임팩트는 소향님을 못따라감 그외 보컬스킬들도 모두 소향 압승. 두분 노래 왠만한건 다 들어왔는데 소향님의 노래는 처음부터 끝까지 거를 타선이 없음.반면 윤성님은 중저음에서 약간 불안해보이고 밋밋함

높은 음이 내어 유지하는 것과 높은 음을 기술로 가지고 노는 것은 다르죠 :)
같은 고음역대라도 그안에서 크리센도, 디크리센도, 점핑, 리프등의 컨트롤이 가능하다는것. 그것이 소향님의 가치이다. 윤성님도 훌륭하지만, 소향의 퀄리티는 넘사라 생각한다.

윤성은 성대가 붙지 않은 상태로 보임. 성대가 붙은 것이 확실한 소향의 고음과는 비교했을 때, 윤성이 내는 소리의 난이도나 질은 확실히 떨어짐.

Not gonna talk about the technical cause I don't understand it, but both are great. I prefer Sohyang because it sounds more subtle and pleasing to me. If I were in the mood for something in your face, definitely Yun Sung.
