Due to a badly designed airbox, air can bypass the filter by seeping around the edges. You have to grease the lip to the filter side of the airbox before reassembling it in order to form a proper seal.
That’s a nice looking bike maybe; I’m biased because I have the same color scheme Centinario. I also added the Givi crashbars and will do the K&N filter in the future. I just installed the Mistral big bore headers with y-pipe with catalyst and the Vbooster plug for the time being until I do the Upmap. Take care, John.
hey guys I have read a few comments now about FAULTY air box design leading to problems issues with dust getting into the engine...a friend of mine just had the dealer have rebuild the engine due to excessive oil use, because of poor air box design...dust had gone into the engine which led to all sorts of problems. This air box doesnt sound look like the one he described to me...wondering has the v85 changed their air box design say in 2023 to anyone's knowledge? thanx
confirmed it is the same airbox...problem is in the thin plastic walls that house the actual filter...they can bend over time, very thin....and allow cracks between the housing and the filter...dust can get through those cracks right into the air box...any ideas?
Belray waterproof grease on all the mating surfaces of the two airbox halves. Also oil the filter with K & N air filter oil. Cannot believe the air filter was not oiled before he installed it .
Ride safe he says, as he ends the video riding off in a T shirt with no gloves.🤔
hmm...good point.

I am not sure about the other subscribers, but I say Chad needs another bike. Nice vid!

Thanks and thanks for watching.
Those ZZs in Guzzi are pronounced as ZZs in pizza.
Fyi you can change the filter without taking the side panels off, use a long flathead screwdriver to pop the clips :)
Awesome tip. Thanks!
Did you dyno the bike before you started? If not you don't really know what kind of gains you really achieved. Just saying
Chad, do you have to spray an oil base on that K&n filter? I would like to know for myself.
You forgot to remobe the two snorkels from the airbox!
Is it possible to service it yourself without having a dealer?

It's an issue that can be prevented by applying grease to the lip of the filter side of the airbox.
Yes, it's a very poorly designed airbox.
How tall are you.? Just 5o know if i would fit
