This may be an unpopular opinion but i actually like this game, the concept was very innovative for the time and it still holds up imo, its a perfect game to play during October, the creepy atmosphere was done perfectly and the music just adds to it, its a great game.
To understand which direction to move in the in-game screen, just remember that the camera there is always looking towards the center of the circular path youre on. For example, when circling the lake, you can always see the lake in the background... because its in the center. So right will be counter clockwise and left will be clockwise.
Ya, the lake is always in the background, on both inner and outer paths. That threw me for a loop too until I realized this, then it became easy to remember.
This is one of the first games that ever bought in my gaming life. In fact i bought Friday The 13th and another classic beloved game called Ninja gaiden. i bought both of them at Toys R Us, way back in 1989. Since then, one of my friends borrow my Ninja gaiden game and he lost it but almost 33 years later i still have my Friday the 13th NES cartridge
This was quite entertaining. Got this when I was ~5 and played around with it getting rekt endlessly but having fun. There's a few channels, and James and Mike's video, where they break down how it all works but how the hell could we have known that then? Thought you guys might put some tape on the screen too! :)
I always think the "camera" is outside the camp, looking in. So, it was easier to remember if I should go right or left. But after that I had no idea what to do in the game.
I fuckin' love this game. But I totally understand why people say it sucks. Like a lot of NES games, you gotta like, figure it out before it gets good.
in the houses, when he is moving very fast you have to dodge as soon as he goes to the side of the screen. beause he will be back in front of you before the dodge animation completes. so its always dodge, then wait for him to go to the side, dodge right away as he is on the side of the room and shoot him as he is moving up
This game is actually really cool and has a lot of neat mechanics. The problem is that it fails at explaining them, so a lot of practice is needed. It's fun the only hint the game gives you at the start is that you have to lit the fireplaces, but that's actually quite useless.
Good Lord. I had this game when I was younger and played it quite a lot, yet had not even a clue of just how deep the cryptic involvement truly is AND that Jason needs to be defeated THRICE! One of the few things I recall was fighting Jason's Mother's "Decapitated Head"' in the Cave area if not mistaken, but evidently that had nothing to do with "beating the game". I learned a lot but damn.
As a kid I preferred Freddy, but now I respect the Jason series more. It has a natural progression where each movie offers something different and the style changes. So that we're still stuck firmly in the 70s with the first movie, yet by Jason Goes to Manhattan, we're full blown 80s fashion and music.
"FIRE WILL DAMAGE JASON THE MOST" as opposed to what happens in the last movie made before this game was released, in which he gets lit on fire and has a house exploded around him and doesn't sustain any apparent damage from that at all.
Erin fun thought, what if they remade this game today? Do you think with the same gameplay but vastly improved navigation and rebalanced difficulty it'd be Great?
Play that game back when it came out I think the cover was the best part of it. It was so bad I don't think anybody I knew actually beat it or knew what the hell was going on. Now it seems simple when you see someone beat it in like a half hour. I did buy the NECA figure from the game and it's purple and blue and when you open the box it plays the theme music.
I beat this twice. Pretty easy once you get Jason's movement patterns down, along with having the weapon from the cabin in the woods. I try to keep the fight with Jason outside on the third night if I can. Inside the house, he's lightening fast. Use the good camp councilors wisely. Some of them are useless.
I was hoping to see you guys fight the medusa head(or Jason's mom's head) inside the cabin of the cave. Did you know Jason had a toilet in his homemade shack in the 2nd movie? They should have worked that into the game! Bless these streams!
To keep Jason from hitting you on the water you have crow spawn the opposite way you are rowing the boat and keep him on screen the whole way to the dock and Jason won't cheap shot you that way. Have beaten the game many times. I will fight him in the cabins on day 1 and 2 but not on day 3 because of the constant fast attacks. Also an important thing that I like to do is fight and beat Pamela on day 2 to get the sweater because it makes you take quite a bit less damage when you get hit.
The Friday movies aren't really for horror fans, they're not scary. They're more for fans of their favorite monster to watch him do his thing and fans of great practical gore effects. You go in rooting for Jason, I liked them because he clearly has a sense of humor in his kills, and I don't get scared by horror usually, I'd rather have fun with it.
@@ErinPlaysExtras They're a ton of fun, I just meant I can understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea. Jason is my favorite because he has so much personality and he expresses it in really subtle ways sometimes, it's fun to imagine what it's like in his head. Friday didn't have the weirdness of Phantasm, the fancy dream kills of Nightmare, or the wicked imagination of Hellraiser, it got by on star power, and you'll know you're a superfan when you can tell Kane Hodder from all the imitators just by the way he stands. And I think of it like the little horror series that could, each one barely paid for the next, it was like public demand kept it going despite critics hating them. It helped redefine the artform and broaden it to include a bit more comedy.
If you were a fan of this, you should play the fan game Friday The 13th: Return to Camp Blood. It’s an NES rom. You can see it in action on my most recent video with a link to its itch page to download.
Im on the left side, Im on the right side.. Im on the East bank, Im on the West bank... Its not that critical! (Robin Hood: Men in tights) lolololol. Great content as always Erin! Good to see you Mike!!
This is the biggest most spread out summer camp ive ever seen... My god. When i wouldve vome home from camp and parents would have asked me how it was, i think that the first thing i would have complained about was the underground MUMMIES popping up everwhere. Mummies on the way the latrine. Mummies popping up on the way to the commisary. Mummies coming at you when your going to canoe....then came the serial killer.
Well, that was close, but you had little to no children to do that cave revisit on day 3 in the last try, and yeah, is rare to see the non-standard Game Over screen were the children count reaches zero, still, the game is fun... despite being an LJN game.
Mike is absolutely right. I know that, for me, I always keep a fresh brick nearby for when I decide to watch the Star Wars prequels so I can slam it into my fucking skull as hard as I can. It's the most entertainment you can have while watching those movies. Cozy vibes.
Once you figure out what you need to do, it is really not that hard and you can beat the game in some 30 to 40 minutes. here is a play through of the game with some additional special effects not found in the original version. ruclips.net/video/eKjGYW1722M/видео.html
I had this cuz it was in the cheap bin at sky city!!! It was really cheap like 9$ back when bed games were 50+$ !!! No one liked it but tried . Jason slaughtered us
If that were true, then why would I make a channel and stream games in the first place? How would I even know of streaming and gaming content if I wasn’t interested in it in the first place? Doesn’t make sense, does it?
The music is perfect, it will drive you insaine after a few hours though.
🤣
Mike: The children are in danger
Erin: Well they're fu**ed.
:D

I like the idea of it and the vibe for sure. I think once I understand it more, I could possibly like it.
Hi Fluttershy!! : D
It's gor good ideas but the execution is horrible in some aspects lol
Halloween ain't over until Erin Plays says it's over!

I came to say the same thing.
Map makes sense once you understand the perspective.
What about when its pitch black? Good tip though.
@@mikematei It's not pitch black on the capture. Your monitor must be too dark.
@@mikematei it's still clockwise and counter-clockwise, that's what you need to remember after you look at the map
Ya, the lake is always in the background, on both inner and outer paths. That threw me for a loop too until I realized this, then it became easy to remember.
A simple way to think about navigating this map is Right = Counter-clockwise, Left = Clockwise.
A nightmare on elm street is a great game! It’s very underrated!
The map hurts my brain.
me too X(
Go left to go right. Except when you’re on the top part of the map. Or on the sides. Or rowing on the lake. Piece of cake 😵💫
you're a map.
That God awful music doesn't help either.

I'm convinced that LJN isn't all that bad. NOES, FT13th and jaws are my most favorite LJN games that are fun to me.

Left = clockwise / right = counter-clockwise. Think of it as a continuous circle, so one direction will take you all the way around the path.
When Jason goes trick-or-treating, he dresses up as Mike Matei
I fuckin' love this game. But I totally understand why people say it sucks. Like a lot of NES games, you gotta like, figure it out before it gets good.
Yeah, I *think* that once I understand it more, I could probably have a decent amount of fun with it.
I like the soundtrack to the A Nightmare On Elm Street game probably more than I would the game itself.
Awesome stream Erin! 🙆♀️
