AI generated stuff would be a reproduction not a original creation hence it would be considered stolen art ( M4A4 Howl is an example) . However if you would create the textures yourself, draw pictures then let the AI form them all together, i think in a way that would be allowed or atleast you would 100% get away with it.

It can recreate things in its dataset but if that happens its called overfitting and there are countless methods to avoid this happening. It's supposed to capture the essence of the data if that makes sense, not recreate it. Its just a bunch of statistics that makes it able to predict stuff. An AI that generates images is predicting what the image should look like by learning the "essence" of the images in its dataset. It's learning patterns you could say.
Someone needs to make textures like this but add secrets. Say there was an orange leaf in that jungle pattern it would be like a blue leaf Seasons XM. Recreate the equivalent of a blue gem on more expensive ones, make it about as uncommon.
You could optimize the experience a lot by rendering the skins outside the game. Using prompt to prompt. Feeding the model UV maps (think via control net ideas). Inpainting as well.... If anyone has had the creative ideas and knows how to use the available tools - it will have been around like 5 months ago. To completely train a model, you have zo have something like a billion image, text pairs. So that will be difficult. Maybe if you rip all the workshop you have a few hundred thousand pairs. Surely you ate stealing at that point.
The last thing we need in csgo is low effort skins. I guarantee if more ppl did this, the skins are gonna look worse and the game well be worse off for it.
At this point I like to see variety. You can tell roughly when a skin came out because in the last few years they've been more clean and colorful. If they mix it up with some skins that look "old" or otherwise a little less clean cut I think that would be cool

Here's the thing tho, you can generate an image, then create your own using photoshop or any image editor or paint whatever, You can create something similar to copying the style of the image, Then you're all ok.

I think the AI generation art is breaking down barriers of ownership and creation not to mention creativity. It’s basically a tool like paint but it outsources so that’s where everyone gets upset. Personally i don’t think sources are necessary for art. It’s not business or political it’s just expression and the AI art is amazing at bringing ideas to life quickly.
I don’t think valve in the future will accept pattern-based skins since that could potential be an ai-generated pattern, and anyone could make it. So the community site would probably see the inflation of these “skins”
