- Another masterpiece by Evil Dog Production, SickDeathFiend Symphony of Spectre (SoS) and the rest of the voice actors. This is the sequel to the Road of the Dead 1 with the same time setting. This game is massive....I LOVE IT. Too much zombies and very chaotic, I'm not gonna lie haha. Most of the time I got chills when playing this game.
The music in this game is amazing, "Together in Hell".

This brings back a lot of memories, I swear that zombie flash games were more entertaining than any zombie game on console and pc. Not because of the gameplay, because of the limited time and effort the developers but into a simple flash game and made it cult classic.

Ayy, nice! You've read the pre-description before the gameplay begin. A lot of RoTD kept asking me how John Creasman managed to tap the military radio channel, I've told them many times to read the description in this game.

Seeing how ONE hellfire helicopter was able to blast through and entire road of dead, I can't quite understand how the military lost this. I mean, what are zombies going to do against a helicopter?
Most of the Hellfires were totalled by John Creasman. That guy just too badass, immobilized them by just driving in a Mustang. I have made a gameplay on the first game if you want to watch it ;)

Some of them got beaten by mutants and a lot of them got beaten by John Creasman those fighter jets should be equipped by napalm cause I saw some scenes in world war Z where the israel helicopters some of them dropping napalm on some hordes and that might be useful since some zombies can survive a payloads of bomb and explosives or even maybe a nuke and anyways those helicopter pilots have died with no gain for their sacrifices since "HQ is stupid"

Nah, I’d imagine being the soldiers. Sherman was probably communicating with others while inside the chopper, but those guards were able to witness that whole thing. I’d like to think that the reason they don’t talk is because of how baffled they were after witnessing that.

I dont know what you have been playing to think all AAA games are graphical fluff most of the time. Flash games are clearly much worse quality.
Evil-Dog actually considered launching a Kickstarter campaign for improved HD versions of Road Of The Dead dilogy for Steam release, or at least release them there as they are in a bundle, back in 2013, but never got to it. There were also many other games planned for the Saga Of The Dead series, but suddenly, everything about the series went silent after a few Streets Of The Dead development streams. I am not even sure if he and his team will ever go back to Saga Of The Dead series. It's honestly saddening that they dropped all their resources on some online monster waifu fighting game, which they can't seem to finish since 2017-2018. I am not even mentioning their rare online activity and lack of transparency.

Nah, it's not rigged. It has been mentioned that on Day 7, a high security broadcast radio has been stolen. So, the military had no choice but to broadcast all their activities on public channel.

Nuclear bombs and regular bombs don't explode in the same way. Explosives produce high quantities of kinetic energy because of a quick combustion that transforms solid and liquid explosives into compressed gasses that expands, which causes limbs to be blown of. Nuclear explotions are caused because of a simultaneous chained subatomical rection, instead of a chemical-physical one, that generates gigantic quantities of heat and post-explosion radiation.
Maybe mutant zombies developed superhuman resistance to heat, but still have somewhat regular muscles, tendons and bones that can get easily torned off.

Gotta say, love how this improved Sherman’s character. He went from the “use the nuke” general that’s so common everywhere to a man who cared for his people but knew when to make sacrifices, even if they failed
Tbf, it was already shown in the first game. When he had to lie to a squad about a transport coming as the nuke was dropped and to “keep those people safe”, and when he told one squad not to engage the enemy and just book it to the evac point; there was also his introduction, where he actually gave a logical and sensible order which was to have a synchronized retreat in an easy to defend location.
He already had this personality, but this game had it more “clearer” than the first I guess.
Ending kind of ruined the uniqueness of the setting by revealing that it’s another generic “National/Global Apocalypse” rather than a quarantined/isolated city.
@@Dr.Oofersyes, but the "nationwide epidemic" actually explained the lack of tanks and artillery and also why the military are losing. It won't make sense if the military failed to contain an outbreak in just one small city.
@@sunshineskystar Artillery was actually stated to be ineffective in one of the radio random chatter convos you can hear in RotD1.
As for the ending, with how much chaos the city also has, abandoned cars and other debris along the road, and the buildings often serving as cover, tanks might not be as effective. Also, the mutants would probably tear through them more easily compared to the attack helicopters. It’s likely why they used Humvees as they can easily outpace the infected and cut them off in time. Tanks can do the same, but as I said earlier, tanks much larger and wider, which can make it difficult to navigate. Also, Tanks require three people to operate, while a humvee only needs 1 or 2 (a driver & gunner) and can help transport civilians and soldiers much faster and a little more safer.
For personnel, logically, throwing soldiers at a problem (virus) that can *grow* based on how many people are infected is a bad idea, you’d have to save them for reserves or station them on guard duty outside the city. The more soldiers lost - the bigger the horde - the more drastic the problem becomes. Add on top of that the chaos from civilians and, yeah, I can still see how the military would have a hard time controlling this situation.
It also makes little sense as to why they’d nuke the city if this is “one small city”. If this was one of major sources/cities of the epidemic, I’d understand, as you’d deal a blow to the majority of the horde and delay the spread of the infected. But as far as we know, and from what you state, this city could be a dwarf compared to whatever else was hit. And sacrificing personnel? You’re already spread thin, you’re already low on personnel in general, *why?* I’d also get it if the nukes were going to be used on other cities, but as far as we know, they weren’t. Quarantined/isolated would make sense for this, as the situation has gotten so out of hand that nuking the city and destroying the problem in one fell swoop is better than throwing more and more potential victims at it. If they were also “low on personnel” then they’d also have a slow resupply of resources, as there are fewer people performing those tasks (probably being drafted in to fight on the frontlines, which would explain why they panic and disobey orders). From the looks of it, they are well supplied, just not well staffed in terms of front-line soldiers. Hell, for a military “spread thin”, they sure did have tons of resources to spend for a “small city.”
Quarantined settings make the “final solution” in these stories more sensible and more impactful since it *literally* is for the great or good, as the entire world is at stake. It’s what made the “bombing” scene in Dying Light 1 so impactful, as the country’s military believes they are wasting time for a city with no survivors and plan to start bombing runs. Leading you to race against time to send out a message to on-coming jets to show that there *are* people still alive in the city, so they can call it off. It’s also what makes the intro so cool, as it’s a news report showing you an outsider’s perspective of Harran’s situation before you start.
In addition to this isolation, RotD1 was great because it put you in the POV of a determined survivor and made them feel like a badass that earned their victory. Plus, it makes the nuke’s failure hit harder, as now the infected are able to spread to other cities and spread the military thin on trying to cover all possible routes the infected could take. Knowing that the whole nation/world was already going to hell makes their survival of the city’s gauntlet less interesting/impactful. It also makes the nuke scene feel uninteresting. “Oh no, the infected survived and surviving personnel/civilians were sacrificed for nothing; anyway, we have other cities to worry about.”
TL;DR: The quarantined setting can still explain how the military failed to contain an outbreak in one location.

1:17:46 Epilogue: Following the previous Road of the Dead 1, John Creasman watch the blast of the nuke and the towering buildings of Evans City were collapsed.
1:17:51 Soon, he wore his helmet and luckily got his black car but his windows and windshield were damaged and now covered in blood.
1:17:55 John Creasman gets into his car and 1:17:58 inhaled his breath to relax and 1:18:02 then he drove away to the next destination very mostly far, far, far away to look for his missing brother, who was a scientist, Doctor Allen Creasman Tyler.
1:18:11 However, two zombie mutants were running after John Creasman, who disappeared in an unknown direction of the road and one of them 1:18:18 jumpscares the fourth wall to a To be continued in the next Saga of the Dead flash franchise.

Yeah it takes over an hour to get across a city in a speeding Humvee, just logic. Also you know what else I noticed when a zombie touched a fence it just fell over so no wonder why the military couldn't hold out. That really would ruin MY immersion with this world, along with its characters.
james Siegel Yeah, it tooks an hour to get across the city because they drove through as many shortcuts as they can even by crossing through the cemeteries and alley ways. For the fences, the military did not have enough time to do proper setups for strong fences because the outbreak already started like few days ago. It was too sudden for them. These are only my opinions :)
Then again, the infected could have damaged the fence before they either A: Fell back or B: Got overrun.
Plus they didn't has much time and resource to set up any proper defense , specially in the center of the city. Because the general also say it start the outbreak across the country , all city was infect a few day ago. The moment the dead start walking it was already too late for them
I mean panicked civilians or undead probably knocked them down before and in all the panic the military probably didn't have enough time to completely fix them.

After doing some research on both this game's zombies and how nukes work irl, heres my conclusion on how the zombies survived.
As we all know, nukes are the penultimate weapon of humanity, strongest we got, so how did the zombies survive? Two reasons.
1. Zombies most likely already left the city, as we can see in the range of the dead, they are already out in the wild and deserts.
2. The nuke most likely DID kill a good amount of infected, however the way a nuke works is that only a "small" area around the point of impact is destroyed completely. The further out you go, the less damage you will take. Considering the military most likely hit the city center, where the most zombies would be (provided Evan's city has one), it most likely took out a bunch of infected, but the infected on the outskirts are most likely unscathed due to the blast being blocked by buildings, which you can see in the end cut scene of rotd 1. Then you might ask, what about the radiation? Well, the radiation most likely would either not effect or boost the zombies powers.
So overall, the zombies were both affected and not at all affected by the nuke.
In my last comment i argued about how it didn't make sense that the zombies were unaffected by the nuke, and ended up arguing with the noob himself. I now see that we were both correct.
All in All, this games fucking awesome. I've spent way too much time playing this game on endless mode, filling out the journal, doing achievements, this game has a surprising amount of replay ability. And if your curious, i did some research on a sequel to the game and it is most likely in the works, or it WAS in the works. The game was supposed to be called streets of the dead, but the most recent thing i could find was in 2018, and the game was supposed to be 3-d, so there's that. All of evil-dog's pages are inactive, same with sickdeathfiend and symphony of spectre's website cant be found anymore, so its most likely the game was canned unfortunately, or its just sitting in a project file on the dev's pc, waiting.
EDIT: Just found out evans city is a real place. However, i dont believe that they are the same place because in game places dont exist in the city, let alone the length of the city doesnt match up for how far you drive in the game.

Not only that; the zombie apocalypse was going on in OTHER CITIES. It wasn't just Evans but Evans is also ground-zero. There were multiple ground-zeroes while this was happening.
Hey, there is another way to kill a grub (the zombies that when you run them over, they get on the hood). When one is about to get on top of the hood, while it's on the front of the car, if you crash into something than the grub will explode. Also, the survival book says that grubs are mutants (you know, they jump and run and land on the hood of the car) before they become mutants, sooo, every grub you avoid can be one of the mutants that you've grappled with. Dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Artillery was probably ineffective because bulldozing the streets by indiscriminately shelling your own city is not a good idea, and when they decide that the city is gone a nuke is more effective at destroying the whole city than artillery
They were in a vehicle, while the other soldiers were stationed in checkpoints that are extremely small.
I mean, they should have brought tanks.

I don't think Evil Dog is going to make a sequel to this ... it makes me feel totally bad, a series with so much wasted potential ... and I say this because the last thing they talked about the supposed "Streets of the Dead" was in a transmission on Twitch and that was in 2017 .... now they only talk about their new game "They Rule the Night" ... hopefully and someday they will return with this saga and it may even be in 3D ... able to me this making mistakes but I want to keep hope. :")

@@xVoltKraken during the first infections the police probably think there a riot going downtown but it was already too late as the infection spread faster with the whole city panicked and the police and other government defends are spread super thin are quickly overwhelm by the masses of infected and panicked civilian make the situation worse, if there still remaining police or soldier they would probably cut off from their chain of command due to the chaos and left to fend for themself.

Needs to fly to the location, drop the bombs, go back to base to refuel and rearm. That would take, what, 5-10 minutes?
One invidual artillery barrage vs one carpet bomber = Carpet Bomber wins obviously
But when we make it lets say, an hour of both doing their thing, Artillery wins because it can shoot much faster than a bomber can go bomb again

I'm planning to play this game again, 3 playthroughs:
1) Play from scratch (No upgrades, No Perks, No Steroids and No Med shots)
2) Play using John's Mustang GT car
3) Play on Hard Difficulty
But I have a problem, which is LAG. I cannot play this game like I used to 3 years ago. Newgrounds are flooding with ads and the 'lights out' option has been removed. My best bet is to download this game and play it offline, but it might have some bugs and glitches in it. I don't like to play this game in separate parts because that would ruin the gameplays' consistency, I like to play it in one go. I'll try to find ways to make these playthroughs happen.

It's either I play it in separate parts or I build a NASA PC. The first game is more stable than this one. That's why I prefer to play the first game more compared to this one.

Honestly I really loved the story of both of these games and how each game made genuine new mechanics and continued the story from a different perspective

The civilians will die but not all of them. This is a single player game but you can make it a 2-player game. You can be either the driver or shooter and let the Player 2 to drive/shoot.
