Kallu the Washerman and His Donkey
Once upon a time, in a village, there lived a washerman named Kallu. He had a donkey that would carry bundles of clothes to the river every day. The donkey was hardworking but had become weak and skinny due to a lack of proper food.
Kallu would load heavy bundles of clothes onto the donkey, and the poor donkey struggled to carry them. One day, Kallu realized that if the donkey didn't get enough food, he would become too weak to work. However, Kallu didn't have enough money to feed the donkey properly.
Kallu came up with an idea. He found a tiger's skin and covered his donkey with it, then sent him to the fields. The villagers, seeing what they thought was a tiger, were terrified and stopped working in the fields. The donkey, disguised as a tiger, would then enter the fields and eat the crops without any trouble.
This continued for several days. Every day, the donkey wore the tiger's skin and ate to his heart's content. But one day, the donkey made a big mistake. While wandering in the fields, he got so happy that he began to bray loudly. Hearing the braying, the villagers quickly realized it wasn’t a tiger but Kallu’s donkey. They caught him and gave him a good beating.
Kallu the washerman also understood his mistake and apologized to the villagers.
Moral of the story:
One cannot hide their true nature by pretending to be something they are not.
