- A brief session spent at Waterloo East station on the South Eastern Mainline where we see plenty of services from Southeastern and Thameslink.
Waterloo East was opened by the South Eastern Railway in 1864, this was dome because they were under pressure to have a connection to London Waterloo serving at the time the London and South Western Railway, it would allow people to connect to the city of London going via Cannon Street.
London and South Western Railway at the time didn't want to make Waterloo East a joint station but were fine with having a large walkway created joining the two stations together. This connection was done in 1867.
The original station was built with two platforms working out at 530 feet and 440 feet in length with the width of the platforms being 18 feet.
Various changes to the surrounding area were made throughout the years leading up to the 1900s.
In 1935 the Southern Railway renamed the station Waterloo (Waterloo Eastern) and the platforms (of which there are now four) were redesignated A - D rather than being numbered.
That concludes my South Eastern Mainline series, I have to say as far as mainlines go this has been the most boring to go on. There just any real good variety at any stage on this line with the exception of a handful of stations.
My next film will be from Peterborough on the East Coast Mainline.
Joining me during my filming here was Shadows Transport and Adam The West Ham Fan.

Its been a great journey with plenty of ups and downs. i hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we did
It was a series that in many respects I regret even starting. If I had known just how dull this line was I would have never of started it
Now That You Have Done The South Eastern Mainline Series. You Now Have The Allowance To Do My Recommended Station - Ealing Broadway. It Is A Popular Train Station To Film At With The Tube Services Alongside Rail Services
I will try and get it done at some stage this year should I get the chance
You should visit SAC(st Albans city) as there are nice EMR 222s and 360s plus terminating class 700s
I have been there once before, I will try and get it done at some stage
@@Tornado922 unfortunately there is less variety of trains but it’s still an interesting station with freight sometimes appearing
Would be cool to see you do Lewisham 👌😌
Maybe one day
Can you do queentown road battersea
I will see what I can do
Best channel 😅😅😅
You're far too kind!
Nice video Jarred. I went to Waterloo East and I only filmed a couple of electrostar units (375s, 376s and one 377). Can you do London Cannon Street if you can able to do it. Meanwhile thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks very much, I'm gonna avoid doing London Terminus stations for a while
Yeah Charring Cross isnt a station for trainspotters I was there I was given permission to film but around 20 minutes later I was asked to leave
pfp twins
did you find out why some station platforms are numbered whilst others use letters ie waterloo east?
Apparently it's due to other stations being close by and avoiding confusion more for staff than anything
Now that the Southeastern mainline series is finally over, what will be the next one?
Back to random stations
Great video Jarred. Loved watching the SEML series, though with it being Southeastern primarily we've seen the same fleet across all videos. I had no issues (that I can remember) when I went to Charing Cross back in late 2018, though it may have changed since then in the past 5 and a half years. It remains my most viewed video, and if everyone else have had issues I can see why my video is so popular - no one else has been able to film a trainspotting video from there
I live on the southeastern mainland you can disagree with me if you want but the southeastern mainline in my opinion is shit
Thanks very much, this was a very long series to get put together and there are a lot of stations on the network that I will never go back to
Another series done albeit minus Charing Cross! Roll on the Midland Mainline from Nottingham to London St Pancras next whenever that will be!
Hopefully that will be more enjoyable than this one was!
@@Tornado922 Indeed although EMR have got the 222's and 360's now unless you are going to start next year when the new bi-modes begin to enter service.
Ya ya 🎉
Good film at waterloo East
Thanks very much!
Absolutely beautiful day and was great to meet you @Tornado922
