    Quote: The Force Tamper hit the market with a promise of contast level and pressure tamps. What if there was a cheaper alternative to the Force Tamper?
    Step up the MHW-3BOMBER Flash Coffee Tamper, a tamper that does everything the Force Tamper does but for a fraction of the cost! that's all said - no long video procedure necessary etc. ;-))

    Thanks for the effort. Have u tested it on a scale to see if that 30Ib checks out?

      I did think to do it but then didn’t want to apply that much pressure to my Acaia Lunar. Should have a cheaper one about in the kitchen. Will test it and report back

      @@SteveHowkins Yes definetely with a regular scale instead of a food one since they're too sensitive. Thanks again 😇 Just ordered one myself btw waiting for it to arrive

    Thanks for the review. Just received mines today and directly made the first shot. It’s still too early to make my conclusions, but it makes a very good impression so far. Same like you, I also got a tiny little play on my IMS basket. Indeed I also wished that it would’ve been 58.5mm, as I’m planning to get the Pesado’s High Extraction basket, which I assume will have similar yet same size like IMS baskets.
    How is your experience so far, any difference with the very slight small tamper size, e.g. side channeling or so?

    • @SteveHowkins
      @SteveHowkins  10 месяцев назад

      Glad you like it so far! No impact so far. Shots the same as with previous tampers. I put extractions that don’t pull to the centre more down to my puck prep rather than the 0.15mm size difference.

    58.35 will work for more baskets, 58.5 would have been a nice option though. I wonder if they're working on one? Sadly I already have a force tamper so I'm good, but my friends have been trying this and are fine with it. It's going to put some pressure on Normcore to look at their tamper again

    • @SteveHowkins
      @SteveHowkins  10 месяцев назад +1

      Couldn’t agree more. I think 58.35 is more universal and fits more baskets than 58.5 but for me that would have been absolute perfection. Force tamper is the gold standard. Yes this is solely aimed at the Normcore end of the market. I guess MHW-3BOMBER, Normcore and Ikape are all fighting the same price point and to that the same customer.

      @@SteveHowkinsWhat is wrong with the Normcore? I have been using the 3 adjustable spring model for about a year now and cannot find a fault other than coffee sometimes gets in between tamping surface and rear of it?

    • @SteveHowkins
      @SteveHowkins  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@kenroman777 nothing wrong at all. This MHW-3BOMBER tamper is just a little more advanced with audible click and pressure release. The Normcore doesn’t do that. At the end of the day a tamper is a tamper. It’s how you use it that counts.

    i like this design style for tampers but i just want my flat tamp base, i dont want circle patterns or waffle patterns on my puck, just regular flat puck, i feel like the shapes dont help anything, especially when i use a screen for most of my shots

    • @SteveHowkins
      @SteveHowkins  10 месяцев назад

      Traditionally it costs more to have something other than a flat base. Maybe they feel they are offering a little more for the money. Yes pattern does nothing for extraction purely aesthetic

      There's a set available that comes with a flat, waffle, and ripple base.

      @SteveHowkins  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@jeremyhighhouse6903 yes I’ve seen that. There 2.0 version as they call it! Bit expensive mind. I would love the flat base. The circle one just attracts coffee and needs constant cleaning.

    I feel like if they made this in 58.5 it would be a no brainer compared to the force tamper
