Every now and then I've been playing a old crappy harmonica i got while on vacation while i was little and while looking through a drawer of tools in the garage (I live with my parents I'm still a teenager) I found a old looking harmonica that sounds way better and i kinda wanna learn now because it's so much fun to play
Use the translator
He's just good, me playing the right notes like that seldom happens after all this time lol, but to be fair I just started taking it seriously some months ago. And I still don't play all day and night trying to get better (I kinda did yesterday trying to make the low draw notes sound good and finally got it right today).
It's easy to pick up and play around with. It's hard to play notes wrong, you're generally playing 1 note at a time or chords that are already sitting next to eachother. As you play around you'll learn how you like to play. You can follow schemes online for specific songs. You can look up different breathing patterns for different styles of play, and best ways to hold the instrument to control volume and effect. You'll probably naturally do some bends and in time you can learn to control them! I rarely play songs like this, because I enjoy improvising more than learning :b
@@JohnGottschalk You know something funny? I forgot to specify I'm playing diatonics specifically (& a 16 hole chromatic since it came in the mail on the 20th). So for a tremolo playing the right notes probably is easier (only one per hole might help a bit) I plan on getting at-least one tremolo one day but I'm not there yet. I'm getting better at hitting the right notes though, the secret seems to be feeling where your lips are on it or where your arms/hand are even. But the former is easier/seems much more practical to me.
@@meh4371 Ah yeah, well I don't think a Tremolo is easier. Honestly they're usually just more notes with less space per note. It may be easier to stay on the correct note instead of accidentally bending because you can hear the Tremolo, but, also you can end up blowing incorrectly and it sounding off due to only blowing the upper or lower reeds alone (especially if you have an old harmonica where some of the reeds might not work properly anymore, but you don't realise at first). Diatonic is the best place to start, with enough practice or experience you'll get used to the spacing on your harmonica, and even hearing when you've clearly skipped a note, or are playing several notes and become accustomed to adjusting your embouchure to just play 1 note, and to shift just as you want to. I sometimes forget how long I've been playing that a lot of these elements come naturally to me now. I can hardly think about it, and if I do I mess up more ;)
I had the same thing at the very beginning, but when I started, I usually had such a smile on my face that there were no words, but I know that I still have a long way to go.
You should let us know what type of harmonica it is, chromatic or blues, and even what make and name of the harmonica. That would be very helpful. After 5 days that is really good, I think.
I got one 8 months ago in c. 20 mins a day and ive had people say i could get paid to play blues harmonica, i feel like i need more work but it is work, so keep at it and you will be successful.
somebody please suggest where we could learn Harmonica in Indian way. I am currently taking course in Udemy but it's all blues and I feel it isn't suiting. Am unable to progress with daily practise too.
Not too bad! You're starting off with a more complicated instrument though. The concert harmonica is cool for having more octaves, but it's harder to embellish because it's so long, and can sound out of tune if you don't hit both reeds consistently, but it does give a bit more of the accordion vibe for that reason.

Pasa mucho tiempo para saber soplar una armónica diatonica, q más se espera de una cromática. No vengas q en 5 días estarás tocando así te pareces a loa políticos de mi país
I can recommend the Tune Basics youtube channel, the guy has great tutorials, very easy to follow and you don't need to know sheet music. It's a great place to start getting used to.

This looks like an easy instrument to learn!
(Or you're just very good XD)
I'll try it.
It's difficult, especially when you get to normal bends, half step bends, whole step bends, vibrato, etc.

That’s a chromatic harmonica, there’s no such such thing as a blues harmonica, only chromatic and diatonic

Fun fact this is exactly how u started and I played this as my second song (first was senorita by shawn) but it was exactly the same progress
Nobody can be that good in 5 days
5 days of practicing 1 song not begginner
5 days praticing one song on such an easy instrument is not impossible
It’s exactly like those infomercials where they do something shitty on purpose with the competitors product in the comparison lol
