    I ordered some of the textile ones off Revivo. Where you can buy returns and repairs for $120 bucks. We will see how they are. I needed a different pair so i can send my tracker forest escs in for a resole and repair. I have worn them everyday for almost two years and they definitely need fixed up. Textile will be my backup shoes.

    Being a Vegan, I love my Textile Trackers. My feet sweat in them a bit with the thermal insole but I don't care. Don't notice until I take them off at home anyway.

      @AndrewFolts  4 месяца назад +1

      Right on! There are actually couple things that could help with that. Injinji toe socks ruclips.net/video/_e6BC2vfl4w/видео.html will create more airflow between your toes (the wool ones are best, but for vegan the synthetic are decent) and Wildling makes a hemp insole that is significantly more breathable and flexible than the Vivo thermal one. bit.ly/49m2Yqg

    Hey Andrew! Ive been watching your videos here and there and its helped me transition to minimalist shoes. My feet/arches feel so much better!!! I have a question about choosing a hiking boot!
    What would be a good choice for these requirements: great breathability(my feet sweat a lot but are never often hot...i wear merino socks basically all the time), good ankle support for backpacking/hauling heavy gear into trails, some waterproofness for fording shallow creeks(more of a just in case i slip in), and a thicker sole for durability and rock protection here in Arizona.
    Would love to hear your thoughts!

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  2 месяца назад

      Hey Skylar, props on going zero-drop! Firstly, if you haven't tried them, Injinji merino wool toe socks are even better than normal wool socks due to the separate toes creating more airflow. My toes sweat a lot in normal socks, but not at all in Injinji's. For trekking I mostly prefer Vivo's 5.5mm FG sole,, which provides some protection without compromising too much agility or ground feel. The Tracker ruclips.net/video/ZkOLb1FbLLw/видео.html is excellent for waterproofing and support, although it can overheat in hotter conditions. The Magna FG has a more breathable collar and good water resistance. ruclips.net/video/NYIWI47hooA/видео.html. The Tracker ESC is taller but still fairly breathable with a thicker 9.5mm sole that's more protective for rocks, but offers less ground feel. ruclips.net/video/DrN3PmsR5oc/видео.html It's mostly a matter of breathability vs waterproofing and protection vs sensation.

    HAving used the tracker fg 2 for 3 years I can say they are really great except for 1 thing that is quite bothersome: there is no reinforcement of the lining around the heel which causes the whole lining to disintegrate around the heel fairly quickly and I had huge craters around my heels on the insides of my trackers after only a few months of very mild use.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  4 месяца назад

      Interesting, I've not had any issue with that yet, but I agree that it would be nice to have a little more padding there. Does it feel like your heel is slipping at all?

    • @davidklausen1316
      @davidklausen1316 4 месяца назад

      @@AndrewFolts Fortunately it's not very noticeable while walking and I don't feel like my heels are slipping at all. Feels very normal to walk, but it looks like a mess inside. Especially when I put them on it feels like they are ready to go in a junkpile because there's so much loose fabric and threads and stuff moving about but as soon as the foot is settled it's not that bad.

    Thanks for your vids. Some constructive criticism though if you don’t mind. The constant in and out of focus when you hold the shoes up to the camera is very off-putting. I feel eye strain because I never know when to expect the focus to change. You might want to remedy that if you’re serious about growing your channel. Good luck and thanks again for the hard work you do already on these barefoot shoe reviews.

      Part of it might be how close I'm holding things to the camera. I'm looking at my tiny camera monitor, so often I bring things closer than is needed for a larger screen. I'll do my best to maintain some distance.

    • @Smattyy
      @Smattyy 4 месяца назад

      I've gone through two pairs this winter because of sole separation from leather. Instant separation just a couple of weeks in. It's a big issue with this model unfortunately. I've seen that a lot of people complain about this.

      @@Smattyy thanks. That's what i was expecting. Think ill go with the ESC series as they're stitched- even though they're not fully waterproof, at least they wont come apart.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  4 месяца назад +1

      No problems on mine as of yet, but I'm only on my first month. My original Primus Trek's have a glued sole as well and still haven't come apart after seven years. A couple factors with glued soles is that you have to always make sure to dry them out after using and keep them away from air vents (hot dry air will wear out the glue). Also, taking shorter strides creates less bending/crimping, which is probably the #1 cause of detachment. But you could go with the Tracker Forest ESC, which has a stitched sole, if you're ok with non-waterproof. ruclips.net/video/DrN3PmsR5oc/видео.html

    Hello, Andrew! I love your videos. Can u help me to choose vivo tracker 2 fg or textile? Because I'm living in South Korea so the shipping and tax fees are pricy, I wanna order well.
    It's monsoon season rn so the months are mostly raining alot. I need waterproof barefoot shoes so I watched ur video! And I still can't decide what to buy😅 I'll buy at revivo since vivo don't sell textile now and my size of II fg is out of stock. So ur saying both are similar and textile is slightly more wide toebox and not too tight ankle? Then I gotta get textile. Fyi, I don't care if it's leather or vegan. Korea have a cold winter so hopefully I can get a shoes that I can wear in winter too. Can u help me to choose? II fg or textile😭 and the purpose is to buy a barefoot shoes for wide toes, help to overcome my flat feet. I read The Story of The Human Body by Daniel E. Lieberman. I'm not looking for a shoes for tracking, hiking. But a barefoot shoes that can wide my toes and not wet in monsoon

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  Месяц назад +1

      Hey there, I personally prefer the Tracker FG, since the sole is a little bit more versatile for all terrain, but if you're using them in muddy conditions a lot, then the Textile's FG2 sole would be a great pick. The Tracker FG is only more narrow at the very tip, and shouldn't make much of a difference. That said, if your feet are not just wide but EXTRA wide, then I'd recommend the Softstar Switchback with the synthetic upper, which is more water resistant than the leather version and has an extra wide option. ruclips.net/video/ybp_g-8z2vo/видео.html

      @@user-qn5il6oh6v Yep, most natural leather balsam products should work. I often use just a simple beeswax balm on mine. The nourisher will keep the leather looking nice longer, but it's not 100% necessary. Up to you.
