I heard that the issue with the Ilana cami was the designer was much smaller in reach when it came out and wasn’t able to get testers in her desired range. It has since blown up in popularity so from what I understand, she’s been trying to get it tested in more sizes so that it can have a better size range.
Good luck getting ready for Flock! Please take some video footage while you’re there so we can all live vicariously through you! 😊 I am not a “summer” knitter in the sense that I knit summer items. When it’s hot (& it’s been in the 90s in New England) I’ve been knitting wool socks & I just made 2 wool brioche hats. I just keep the items small so I don’t have anything hot in my lap… Your socks are super cute. Definitely try different recipes to find what’s right for you. My first sock was huge as well. I had to go down a needles size. My go-to pattern is the “Trusty Toe Up Sock” which is free on Ravelry. I like that much better than cuff down bc you can try it on as you go & make a shorter cuff if you’re low on yarn. Plus I’m just not a heel flap girlie & don’t like Kitchener stitch. Judy’s magic cast on is where it’s at for me & I’m all about a short row wrap & turn heel. Again, a little trial & error will get you to your perfect recipe that you enjoy to make & is the perfect fit as well. Looking forward to your next video! - Erica
Love your approach to size inclusivity. I feel the same way. Glad you addressed it but also didn’t beat yourself up about it. Every pattern has my size but not everyone’s size and I too buy size inclusive patterns, but hey, things happen. Enjoy it!!
I’m glad you’re paying attention to how your hands are affected. I have a friend who has been knitting since she was 5 and may have to give it up because her hands have become so painful and she is devastated. Taking good care of your hands is so important.
Yay for your first sock(s)! I will be curious to hear if you like wearing them. I tend to always have a sock going alongside another project, but don’t wear them often
Congrats on your first pair of socks! 🧦 You did way better than me! I had 2nd sock syndrome while knitting my first pair, and my 2nd sock was in hibernation for a couple of years! 😅 But I recently completed it and I can't wait to cast on another pair. Also your Hue Shift is beautiful! 😍
Congrats on your sock! I’m experimenting with socks..practicing heels, etc. 😊😊. I use the 9 inch circular sand 64 stitches. I wear a 7 1/2 or 8 US. I’m now making shorties so I can practice more and faster.
A lot of people had some great comments on the Tombo tee but I would also put the neck ribbing on before doing sleeves just to see if it adjusts the fit a bit on your sweater!
I watched her tutorial on RUclips for the heel and it made it a lot less scary. I was a little nervous as well but Summer Lee explains it all super well. You’re going to do great!
unfortunately, agree the Tombo tee looks like it will be too big for you. It is hard when you are between sizes. The fact that I am a tight knitter usually works for me as I often choose a larger size to get a smaller size working out to 3 (or 4 inches) of ease that I prefer. Thanks for another great podcast!
Bonnie, I have knitted at least 100+ pairs of socks and only now found the size that I really like (I must say, most of the socks were not for me). I have very much the same size foot as what you have (I gather it from what you say about how you decided to knit the large size). I watched a class (on Craftsy) and learned that you should have 10% negative ease on your socks. You can go down to about 60 stitches. As long as your socks are long enough, it will definitely not too small. Hope it helps.
Do you think with your striped top that because there is some cotton, if you knit the smaller size that the cotton will relax and stretch in width a bit when blocked? How much cotton in the blend. How about putting it on waste yarn and blocking this sweater before you frog. It may tell you how much it is going to relax and give so that you have a rough idea how much the smaller size would stretch after blocked. Measure this sweater BEFORE blocking so you can compare. Hope this helps. Diane from Boston
Yes, it does look a bit too big and I agree you will not want to wear it with that fit, sad, but you will be much happier to start over and make one that will flatter you nice figure.

Oh awesome! That makes a ton of sense and makes me feel much better. It’s a fantastic pattern so I can see why it’s gotten so popular.

Have fun at your fiber festival! Cant wait to see what you get! ❤

Well done on your first sock. If you have a medium size foot I would say 64sts on a 2.25mm or 60sts on a 2.5mm needle.
Love Summer Lee and her new book!! Your sock looks great ❤
Thank you!
I’ll be at Flock! I don’t know what I’m wearing…but it will be knitting!
I’m making my first sock too, with the same pattern! Yay! I’m super nervous about the heel part, so I’m glad to hear that it wasn’t too bad 🧦

@@AKnitterObsessed Thanks for the tip! I’ll check it out :)

For your shirt.. Try casting on fewer stitches under the arms.
