Yeah, it's tough! We ended up staying in Port-of-Spain at a place walking distance from the Savannah, which was a convenient location in my opinion but after we arrive a bunch of people mentioned that they wouldn't suggest staying in our particular neighborhood (Belmont). Best of luck to us both! lol
I understand your concern since it's a primarily Caribbean and black experience. We had white people in our group and I don't think they had any issues. As a woman, you should be careful and aware of your surroundings, like everyone. But I don't think white people are targets or stand out in a negative way at carnival. Folks are there for good vibes & enjoyment, and as long as you respect the culture & the experience then you'll have a great time!
You should know Trinidad has a local white population. It is not a homogenous black population, particularly not in west Port of Spain. White Trinis and foreigners participate in Carnival too. You can find most of them in Carnival bands like Harts ruclips.net/video/El5gMFVPNNM/видео.html and Bliss ruclips.net/video/yhV8ncVyQrg/видео.html and some also join other bands where they are the minority and have a good time.

I've got Trini friends and it's one of the largest carnivals in the world - how could I NOT find out about it?! 🤩
There are trinis in la that something I didn't expect I know they in the east coast not the west coast
