    I feel this ones quite underrated. Also, would you say this is on the easier or harder side (compared to his other etudes?)

    • @SeeMusicPiano
      @SeeMusicPiano  5 лет назад +215

      I agree! This one is in that Chopin Etude category of impossible to play before you can play it - then much easier once you can play it - if that makes sense? If you don't have the required finger strength yet, you have to be very very careful learning this one - it can easily cause a lot of hand problems. You have to start learning it at half tempo hands separately, which is a boring and occasionally brutal process. Getting it up to speed isn't easy either. All of the Etudes pose their own, very unique challenges. If the pianist approaches this Etude perfectly from a practice standpoint, it can be one of the more straightforward Etudes to learn, which is why you could say it is "easier" to learn than Op. 25 No. 8, 10, or 11, for example.

      @@SeeMusicPiano alright thank you so much for the reply. Which etude would you say teaches the most valuable skill?

    • @SeeMusicPiano
      @SeeMusicPiano  5 лет назад +80

      @@gideondoering6512 It's not really an answerable question - especially in Op. 25, all of the Etudes teach absolutely essential skills, in a very condensed way. I would say that overall, Op. 25 teaches skills that are used throughout the entire piano repertoire, where as the Op. 10 Etudes are a little more specific to the works and style of Chopin. Every single Etude in Op. 25 teaches a core, essential skill. Op. 25 is somewhat ordered in terms of difficulty, so if you looking for where to start, it would be with Op. 25 No. 1, proceeding through numbers, 2, 3, and 4 to Op. 25 no. 5. At that point, Op. 25 No. 6 - 12 are all insanely difficult in their own special way, and some of the hardest pieces in the repertoire to play from memory, at tempo (besides 7, obviously).

      We shouldn't be quick to attribute narrative to Chopin's pieces so quickly, as he himself disliked the programmatic trends. Still --- what this piece makes me think of is a labyrinth, with many winding staircases, confusing hallways and mysterious courtyards.

    Ok I really love this etude, and love the way you play it, not as fast as the other pianists. You're very talented and I really can't wait for your channel to blow up. Just one thing I noticed on a lot of your videos, is that the "flame" that comes out of the keys hitting the piano stays for too long, sometimes it hides the key falling (like in your transcendental etude videos)...
    Very good playing otherwise! 👍🏼

    Thank you seemusic piano for playing this piece! I have been tackling this piece for 3 years.... I can play rather slowly but I can NEVER play the left hand fast enough... The traveling distance is so enormous, so the left hand can’t keep that speed. it is beyond my Techinical ability so far. I would highly appreciate it , if you or anyone for that matter could comment on exactly how to make it possible to play that fast on the left hand. I am kind of desperate on this 🥺💦💐🙇🏼‍♀️🙇🏻‍♂️. Thank you so very much💐✨ Also, if the screen could be a little brighter, we could see your wrist movement etc. but this light stuff is what makes your channel cool the way it is, I totally respect that . I really like this Etude especially 0:14. Perfect execution. You said in a comment that this is one of the more straightforward while Op 25 no 10 is cery difficult. I find no 10 to be one of the easier. Not that I have played completely. Maybe because I practised octaves way too much😅. By the way would love to see you play chopin grande polonaise. I know you can play it from another comment. However you don't have to listen to me. Do whatever pleases you.( I'm curious about what you plan to play next ).

    • @SeeMusicPiano
      @SeeMusicPiano  5 лет назад

      Thank you! Yes - Op. 25 No. 10 is pretty straightforward at first, but very difficult to master completely. Not to mention that playing it at full tempo puts an enormous amount of strain on the hands, and it's exhausting and potentially dangerous to practice more than a couple times in a row... I guess it's more exciting to keep the next piece a surprise, but there are definitely some good ones coming up soon 😀

    • @SeeMusicPiano
      @SeeMusicPiano  5 лет назад +4

      It's just the nickname sometimes given to this Chopin Etude, probably because both big leaps and the key of A minor are associated with the violin caprices of Paganini

    Nice performance, though I'd like this piece to be played with some more interpreted variations. The way you played it was in my opinion too much "straight forward". And I'd like the color scheme to fit more into the piece instead of changing randomly. Btw, since you're able to play all the Chopin Etudes inside op.25, I'd like to see you performing Op 6.

    • @SeeMusicPiano
      @SeeMusicPiano  5 лет назад

      Thanks - just as a note - the colors definitely aren't changing randomly. Each pitch is assigned a color, and the SeeMusic app calculates what color the harmony is at any given point in time by averaging out the pitches being played. It's definitely my own personal interpretation of how I "see" the colors of the piece, but they aren't at all random 😀. Practicing no. 6 today, haha.... it's a beast.

    • @je4a301
      @je4a301 5 лет назад

      @@SeeMusicPiano Oh ok, if the colors are actually not random, I'm sorry for this assumption. It just came into my mind because at 0:25 - 0:37 I feld it was played actually pretty warmly while you choosed rather cold colors which also changed quickly. And yeah, Op. 6 definitely is a beast.
