    Hi, As a mid 50s man about to start living on my own for the first time in my life and as someone who never liked clutter I found your video very useful 👍. You don't use oil when cooking. I'd like to know more about this, vaporized oil gets everywhere and makes a hell of a mess that's hard to remove. Have you done a video about this?

    • @SagaJohanna
      @SagaJohanna  Год назад +3

      Hi Adrian! How great! I'm so glad my videos can be useful :)
      Oh yes! I love that fact about not using oil either - we basically don't have to clean our oven. I haven't made a video on it, but it's a good video idea!
      Using splashes of water works just as fine and is a lot healthier. Here is a bit more information on my diet and why I don't eat oil in general nutritionfacts.org/

    Actually, baking powder isn’t the same as baking soda. Baking powder contains cream of tartar and cornstarch, costs way more and isn’t used for cleaning as baking powder is. I know it’s easy to confuse them.😊

    Yea please. I Am currently Konmari method cleansing my space. Also got all 3in one furniture which you described. I would love you to Series : 1.wardrobe - organizing tips, cleaning shoes, belts and bags keep up, laundry process of your clothes.
    Which days, why those days, how long it takes you for all 1.2.3.
    2. Cleaning schedule for whole month, when and how often: handles, switches, lights, lamps, mirrors, windows, floors, beds, sheets, drawers, cabinets
    3. Self care, your routine it Scandinavian normal time - mind body soul inc. brushing teeth and again timing , products, hair, saunas, body scrub or dry scrubbing, masks, nails, meditation or books, when how often what times why, also tea time or coffee or something you guys do…
    I really really need new structure and don’t have time for all different style trial and research. Btw I have berkey also, how often do you clean it how you clean it, when it is really off, I never know when to change stuff… I am nearly there but I need structure… and you are so wonderful and explain sooo clear and msg goes right into my head and absorb.
    And yeas please fill in on bed set up, non toxic options, I am ready to change mattress, I do have feathers pillow duvet, cotton sheets and silk… mattress is a question - this is too soft and toxic of course, found few like avocado and other brands but 2000$?
    Anyway please yes please do detailed series on everything! If possible even 30 day sheet for cleaning… ❤

      My mattress is an organic latex mattress, 100% latex, nothing else. Best material by far, completely non toxic, but very very expensive. Our first one was second hand until we could afford a new one!
      For the Berkey, I clean it every three months. I empty it and clean the inside with dishsoap, rinse completely, and then let it dry upside down on kitchen towels. I also scrub the black filters until they're clean, and it works so much faster after this, highly recommend!
      And also, you're doing amazing

    @alecb.7696 2 года назад +4

    I love this video. You clean with great care and attention to detail. In Buddhism cleaning is very much a spiritual ritual.
    I had two further comments and two questions. The comments: I adore the Swedish two duvet tradition and adopted it on discovering it in my first visit to Stockholm! (and also air the bed in the way you describe). The second is about a lack of clutter aiding cleaning. It's an obvious point but often overlooked. I think Fumio Sasaki said cleaning if you have an owl sculpture involves: 1. move owl sculpture; 2. clean floor, 3. return owl sculpture; cleaning without owl sculpture: 1. clean floor.
    The questions:
    1. Do you single task when cleaning? I.e. not listening to music or a podcast or something like that?
    2. I think you said you donated your sofa in another video. What do you guys do for seating? Floor seating is something that interests me in Japanese traditional culture, but I haven't been quite brave enough to embrace it.

    • @SagaJohanna
      @SagaJohanna  2 года назад +3

      Oh I love that saying. It is so true, and often as you say, overlooked. Cleaning is so much easier without the “owl” and I find it also less overwhelming.
      To answer your questions :)
      1. When cleaning I tend to not do anything else. But I do quite enjoy the task of cleaning and letting my mind go crazy before it settles down. I rarely listen to podcasts. Only for long travels really. But sometimes when I cook I do, because I find cooking a bit more difficult. But Pema Chodron speaks fantastically about how even the most mundane tasks such as cleaning can be fresh and present and rediscovered each time, with meditation. That is my aspiration.
      2. Yes, I restored a sofa but we sold it because the money seemed more useful. Currently we sit on organic latex squabs or square cushions, similar to the Japanese style. However once we have a settled home I want a sofa because I find it useful, as long as it doesn’t come with a tv ;)
      I prefer to have a place to rest my back when reading, currently that’s quite difficult and I end up hunched over on the floor. I’m hoping to create some sort of built in sofa in a corner, with cushions on top. This way it’s part of the home and not furniture.
      The floor is okay but reading as mentioned, is difficult. Gatherings quickly become more personal but I think we would technically need a low table to be able to sit better. But for now it works. In the van we will have a sofa, but that converts in to a bed so not really applicable for house living as such ☺️
      But I agree with you. And there of my long reply. Sofas are difficult to find in natural materials, and personally I find them a bit odd looking. But there’s nothing like reading a book in a comfortable sofa and having that separation between relaxing and sleeping.

    Just a question.. I've never tried to use vinegar & baking soda for cleaning but is it good/ okay for the skin? It seems like it's okay because you're not using cleaning gloves.. This would make cleaning so much easier for me because it's much more simpler & there's no need to search for the gloves

    • @SagaJohanna
      @SagaJohanna  2 года назад +1

      So happy to hear that! Thank you :)
      It is okay for the skin, as long as you don't have any cuts, then vinegar can sting a little bit. As long as you wash your hands after it is absolutely fine. And if you have very sensitive skin you can just use 1 part vinegar diluted in water! I too do not like using gloves!

      Ohh! That's a great question. It's an ergonomic kneeling chair. One of the main reason for bad posture is modern day chairs being built, which encourage your knees to be higher than your sit bones. To stack your spine easily you need your sit bones above your knees. This is what this chair does and it has made my long days of sitting and working feel much better 😁

      For the inside of the toilet I pour in baking soda and vinegar, put the lid on and leave for 5 minutes. Then I use a toilet brush to clean it. This removes any stains and discoloration and is very effective and non toxic.
