I hated my dad. When I got saved and read in 1st John that if we say we love God but hate our brother, we are a liar and the truth is not in us. So, I started "acting" in love towards my dad. I specifically remember one evening I made him a cup of coffee and before bringing it to him I prayed: "Jesus, I hate my dad. But you love him. So, would you show him your love through this cup of coffee?" Three years I acted in love towards him all the while feeling hate. One morning I woke up, the hate was gone, and my heart was filled with love. We had 15 years together after that, and the last week of his life he accepted Jesus as his Savior. My father never repented of his abuse. The words "I'm sorry" never came from his lips. In fact, I never said the words, "I forgive you." But clearly, in my heart I had.
Voddie is opening my eyes to so many things. He has such good sermons, and he speaks with such passion, such truth. I can't get enough. Praise the Lord for sending me a pastor who teaches the Christian gospel and so much more!
When it comes to forgiveness there's always going to be certain situations where the person (s) you forgive will hate you & try & destroy you even if they are related or within your circle of people. I am related to a certain slanderous, jezabele spirted person that I avoid like the plague, every time I would offer an olive branch I would get bit & bitterly regret it. I know Jesus didn't hang out with the vermin that was out to ridicule & destroy him! There are a few certain people in my life that I must avoid because of their intentions towards me.
I played this like 2 times to hear it again. He was spot on about the guilt for the victims. Man, I cried so much fighting with my flesh and trying to argue with God and wanting a reason not to do it. Finally got to being scared of exposing myself to danger and distrust that God will cover me and that was enough to look at myself and my promise to God. Pastor Bachman has convicted me so much lately. I finally understood why I had to forgive. Anything for God.
So profound sermon, I spend most my life with envy, anger, unforgiveness, grudges until one day I let it all go away, I thank God for good preachers like Pastor Voddie who teaches the truth nothing but the truth...
I just listened to John Macarthur where his message was on the same thing of Forgiveness. His message was 5 years ago and Voddie Baucham was 9 years ago I know God has everything to do with me in listening to both of these WONDERFUL PASTORS. For all my hurt was done by FAMILY Members.✝️🙏🏾v
This is the most precious, most priceless, most profound of all messages on forgiveness. I cannot even express the power in this one message. If you don’t watch any other message, watch this one. Nothing touches this message, it is from God.
I thought I knew forgiveness till I listened to this 🥲 great lesson, because Jesus dying on the cross is enough for all the trespassing that was against me.
I'm confused because I forgive people I don't hold grudges I don't look back I don't throw it in their faces but if you're only adding strife and negativity I will not expose myself to that constantly.... I don't see how sacrificing my sanity and my peace at the expense of somebody else's misery is unforgiveness... misery loves company and I refuse to ring its doorbell. As much as I love this man of God I cannot help but think Psalms 1:1
The Son of Our Living God said to forgive 7 × 70 times and also drew a line in the sand. Don't to be a doormat for evil. You can forgive someone and pray for someone without them even being in your life.
YEP. My dad went to prison for CSA (though he was physically A-sive, too) and my mother could give Joan Crawford a run for her money. I forgave my dad MUCH easier than I could/can my mother. (I'm working on it...) It is NOT SAFE to have either of them around my children. God gives us the gift of discernment. I'm using it.
True forgiveness takes time . joseph wanted his brothers to feel some greif at first. His heart began to understand Gods plan and it took forgiveness to comeplete what God gave as a example to all mankind .
We are blessed in Zambia, Voddie is ministering to us as Dean in the School of Divinity at the African Christian University here in Lusaka, Zambia(Africa)🙏🙏🙏🙏
A great message on forgiveness. Only by God's grace can we see how sinful we are. And yet He died for us, demonstrating His love upon His people, setting the example of love and forgiveness. He loved His enemies, while they were His enemies, so that the riches of His grace may be known. Jesus said you will know my disciples by the love that they have. Jesus admonishes us to not just love those that love us back, for even the unbelievers do that. Therefore love your enemies and do good to those who persecute you. This truly is impossible from ourselves. We can only do it, by looking at ourselves as Christ's enemies and the love and forgiveness that He extended to us. We will only love through forgiveness as much as we realize how much we've been loved through His forgiveness.
Wow this is so accurate! He described me to a tee! I was the unforgiving man and went through all of these feelings and bitterness until God broke me and showed me my sin
This message was tailored for me. I just want to say thank you. I have been practicing unforgiveness for so long, I couldn’t even tell it was stagnating me. I claim to forgive, and pay bills and all for the people that hurt me, but deep in my heart of hearts, I still carry the bitterness. Today I choose to let it all go and hand over to God. I choose to allow the Holy Spirit to take over my grudging heart. I choose to let go of all the unjust treatment and let God purify my heart. I ask for healing and a renewed spirit. I pray for God to send healing to all who have been hurt by my actions and pray that God will give them comfort, in the blessed name of our Lord Jesus Christ. ❤️
Perhaps stop paying bills, because of your bitterness they are using you and you cannot confront them to take care of themselves. Forgive your parents too that is where bitterness starts from. Even more start forgiving for small things in your life, meaning say it directly.
I have been in my sanctification for only three years, and I first saw Mr. Baucham at a religious program for Vetrans and first responders (Mighty Oaks warrior program) I watched. Why I believe the Bible and it is so powerful. Thank you, Sir, and God bless
God also blessed me with reconciliation with my mum before her death. She had never given me a compliment or even liked me, yet at the end she did, and she changed completely toward me. Praise my Heavenly Father who made that possible, I understood how much I am truly loved by my Father and that He truly cares about me that He gave me closure on what had always been a rocky relationship. I treasure that He also gave me the desire of my heart in this.
Thank you for sharing the story of Joseph to everyone. I have struggled with forgiveness, forgiving others who has stolen from me, hurt me, took advantage of me, and struggled most forgiving my self for doing the same as revenge and for keeping the anger for so long. When I decided becoming a true Christian, not just by name, forgiveness became very meaningful for me. And the story of Joseph is one that I always look up to besides Jesus paying for all our sins. Rejection is probably one of the most painful emotion and forgiveness is probably one of the hardest thing to do. If God can forgive us for our countless sins, who are we to not forgive others? There are others scriptures in the bible that mentions about forgiveness, another one is the the Parable of an unforgiving servant in Matthew 18. Forgiving can be hard indeed, but if you do not forgive as Pastor Voodie mentioned, it is your greatest sin then. This is one of one I am focusing in life today, sharing my testimony on how I have overcome the thought of revenge and choosing to forgive. Yes it is hard, but once you learn to let go, you take the weight of burden off you, and then comes peace.
Hey sister, no where in the Bible does it command us to forgive ourselves-only verses saying to forgive others. The correct term would be accepting God’s forgiveness.
This man speaks the truth. He is passionate about our savior Jesus and the most high. He really gets me thinking about everything in a different manner. To really process what forgiveness is, is much deeper than what I previously believed. He breaks it down
How he explains the lineage from Abraham to Joseph being held captive for over two decade just to preserve Judah's life (who is the promised seed...), makes me stamp my desk... this is beautiful. God bless and keep your entire family sire Baucham.
28:24 - 30:33, absolutely shook me too my core. Gods word and truth really is sharper than a two-edged sword piercing our very soul. Wow…… This is me and I’m ashamed of it but I’m grateful that I watched this video that the Lord may reveal my sin to me to sanctify me in His Son just Christ through the Holy Spirit. Praise God for His grace and mercy. I needed to hear this, thank you Voddie, thank you.
If we hold hate toward another person it hurts us not them. They couldn't care less but it will destroy you. God knows that and that's why I believe he tells us we have to forgive.
This is a generous gift from God to me. One that I didn't know I was in desperate need of.. ... 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Lord I pray that you'll Continue to lead guide and direct me in the pathway of Righteousness in Jesus name amen. God bless you for sharing. PS For everyone of us who acknowledges that we needed This... Let's pray one for another Also PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL WHO THINKS THEY DON'T 🙏🏾🛐🙏🏾 Shalom
This is such an amazing message. One that every human on the planet needs to hea not just believers. When I struggle with the issue of forgiveness I'm gonna revisit this message!!
I had to watch it twice. Forwarding to my circles. I am not worshipping the minister but this made me cry the way he delivered the same message I've read. YHWH BLESS!
The narrow way....I have never learned at least not from any preacher either I encounter online or in real life what forgiveness is. All I learnt is revenge with curses during my life as a young Christian neither did I learn from a veteran preacher who loves to threaten though he did not know the truth. I did not learn it from my shepherds, church leaders or pastors or classmates either believers or not. I do not see any differences between believers or non and no matter what denomination they are in. I learnt it from the Bible, God's words and one or 2 books I read and in real life from my own parents and some siblings. Also, never have I heard forgiveness being preached even once in the churches I attended. Now I learn the difference between restoration n forgiveness. Sometimes, we just forgive n do not want to expose certain people in our life for certain reasons. Some cases are easy, others are not.
Thank you Lord for Your forgiveness Change our heart Lord through your Holy Spirt so we may Forgive others. “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15 NIV
Im struggling about forgiveness now because of situations that i have been, but this preaching helping me to overcome myself to forgive, not for them but for own peace. 🙏🥺
The most difficult part for me is when we forgive for hurts and offenses, but the person never changes. Not only do they hurt and offend but they just keep doing it and are never sorry. In fact, they don't even seem to be aware of their sin because nobody can tell them without there being a blow up. And when they are told, they deny and excuse and justify and counter attack and accuse and make war over it. Vodie says you can forgive but be cautious. How can you be cautious if that involves some degree of distance? In other words, it's the juxtaposition between saying "they are forgiven" and "I don't want to be around them much because they keep hurting me." But if you don't want to be around them, people say you're unforgiving! I don't understand that. I want to forgive, even to forget, but why must I continually put myself in danger again and again and again? How do you be "cautious" without the caution looking like unforgiveness? How do you be cautious when the person uses your caution against you? "See, you won't do X, you're not being forgiving!" It's manipulation pure and simple. It's like they're are saying "haha, you have to be forgiving, so I can do what I want to you and don't even have to be sorry about it! And if you try to stay away from me, I'll accuse you of refusing forgiveness and reconciliation." And if course THEY can say they forgive their victims, and want reconciliation with their victims, if course they do, it means nothing to them. If course they want you back in their life so they can beat you up some more. But if you try to rub away to then you are accused of unforgiveness and sin. Vodie says there is some difference between reconciliation and forgiveness, but I've been taught they are the same. How can you have one without the other? You can't say you're reconciled properly if there hasn't been forgiveness, and what would it mean to forgive someone if there isn't reconciliation? Because that would just mean you're punishing them by distancing or withholding in some way right? We can't say "you are forgiven, BUT, you have to change now and be different". That isn't forgiveness, that's a contract. "You can be forgiven as long as you change!" So then, what can you do to forgive and reconcile when the other person just keeps harming you? We're being told you can't change them or tell them what to do because that's "forgiveness on my terms". But we can't stay away from them because that's punishing them and isn't forgiveness. It's really frustrating, like are we not allowed to have some standards about how we want to be treated? To tell them they are wrong? Because telling them they are wrong is just asking for a fight, which makes it look like we're not forgiving because we're demanding they change, etc etc. It's very toxic and manipulative and there is no way out because we're being told "no no you can't just leave them because that's not reconciliation, that's punishment!" Gaa! Litterally, all we want to do is stay away from a nasty personality, why is that wrong?
@41:36 mark when Mr Baucham says “... that’s why there is an emphasis on the 70x7”: There is a reason why Jesus said that to Peter. It is a reference to the verse in Daniel: “ Seventy sevens are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.” Daniel 9:24 ESV At the end of the Seventy sevens or 490 years (of which 483 of the years have been completed). The L-RD will our an end to transgressions as stated in the Daniel passage stated above.. which will be the end of the age (when we finish those last seven years) So essentially what Jesus was saying to Peter is “ I want you to forgive until the end of the age when I will end all transgressions (which is Seventy sevens that Daniel prophesied)” The Word of G-D is so BEAUTIFUL and complete with every word written and spoken!
@@SlaveofChrist_ I was talking about the total of 70 weeks to put an end to transgression and how it relates to what Yeshua said to Peter. You want to bring in eschatology. So let’s cut to the chase, what is your point?
I need to ask for prayer for my two grandsons. Jasiah and Tino that then come to forgive there mother’s for what then say then have done to them. 🙏🙏 than you very much
Dear Voddie, I very much want a church home where I receive the kind of conviction and instruction that I receive with each one of your sermons. I have found no such place and the place that my son and his family worship seems to be light years away from ever attaining the kind of fire and fervor for Christ that you exhibit. I thank God that I have you to feed me and educate me in the Bible until such time that I can find a church body that can give me that same thing. I pray the Lord's blessings upon you your family and every Church to whom you bring the message. Love in Christ.....
oh my goodness!!! this man, right here!!!!! is this the 2nd John the Baptist?? maybe not! but he sure does preach the truth like Christ himself would. thank God for men like this!!!! false teachers will be held accountable. this man will recieve his reward. praise be to God

There were two thieves dying on crosses next to Jesus. One repented and received forgiveness. One did not repent and did not receive forgiveness. Forgiveness requires Repentance.
for God to forgive man, yes.. repentance is required. For man to forgive other man, no, repentance is not required, you simply do it. we are commanded to.
I can forgive, but stay away from abusive behavior. If the person doesn’t want to get help and work together, there has to be distance between them. I have no hate or resentment, I wish them well, but there has to be boundaries.
I don’t know how to.I’m trying I Don’t want to carry this on my heart. I need to forgive my husband he has been continuously either cheating ,drinking , smoking. This last betrayal was the worst. I want to forgive him so I can leave this relationship. I cannot carry this burden when I leave. I been listening to scripture & praying. please tell me what I’m doing wrong.I want peace with all this pain.I’m trying and don’t know how to get it!
I am confused by the iPAD anology. If I forgive them for breaking it, yet accept a replacement from them if they're financially able, how is that unforgiveness. It's like someone damaging my vehicle and denying their offer to fix it by cash, or through their insurance. I can forgive and still expect/receive accountability and responsibility. However this is an excellent message. I just got a little confused.
Forgiveness wasn’t freely offered by Joseph and it kills me when I hear his or any story of the Bible told as a morality tale for the sake of making a confused point. God’s Word says that Joseph treated his brothers harshly and put Simeon in jail for a year when they first appeared before him in Egypt. He told his other brothers they would starve if they didn’t bring Benjamin back with them the next time, as they would get no more grain. He spoke harshly to them, calling them spies. It wasn’t until his brothers returned after a year and showed remorse and repentance that Joseph’s heart was moved to reveal himself and seek reconciliation. It would have been a horrible sin to not offer forgiveness to repentant persons and Joseph’s forgiveness was not cheap. He tested his brothers to see if they had a change of heart by the way they treated Benjamin in his presence. Once Joseph saw this change, he stood ready to forgive and reconcile. Sometimes God separates His people from persons due to others unrepentant evil. My family is not saved and shows no signs of repentance and salvation; on the other hand, they are slanderers and continue in their evil ways. I pray for their salvation since repentance is of The Lord but I stay away from them all. It hurt massively to be cut off from them but God says to remove yourself from the evildoer and based on what my family practices, I can’t be around them. However, if they ever call or communicate repentance and Godly sorrow for their sins, I stand ready to forgive. Here, we see a confusion between love, which we are to provide to all people and practice freely by praying for the ungodly and forgiveness which even God gives only to the repentant.
I also believe counseling is very important to the injured person. In addition, what happens when the other person does not want restoration? I guess and long as we know we have forgiven then, that's all we can do. I would love some feedback. God Blessings.
Look on Sermon Audio for a guy named Dr. Greg Mazek. He did a wonderful sermon called "Forgiving the Unrepentant". It's a great follow up to Voddie's sermon on forgiveness.
Luke 17:3 clearly states, ". . and If he repents, forgive him..." That verse is not a "myth" it's biblical. A lot of ministers avoid this part of the verse that requires the person to repent (Luke 17:4 KJV) "And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him."From this verse we see, God requires the person to repent before forgiveness for a reason. Some people are too proud to repent, but they're supposed to do it, and then we forgive. Both sides have a responsibility according to this scripture.
As a species, if humans were able to feel unconditional love towards all other humans, it would not be possible to worship an image of a judge-mental god.
There are some people who think that we are to forgive people arbitrarily without the offenders taking accountability for the wrongful actions. Nowhere does the Bible suggest that. Sometimes, they quote Jesus saying, "Father forgive them, they don't know what they do." This doesn't mean that the Father forgave them. To prove my point, in Revelation 1:7, it says, ""Look, he is coming with the clouds," and "every eye will see him, even those who pierced him"; and all peoples on earth "will mourn because of him." So shall it be! Amen." This is an indication that the ones who pierced Him, will be subjected to eternal judgment, and they were not forgiven. God does not expect us to forgive without another person taking accountability. Without accountability, there is no true forgiveness. Before forgiveness can be actualized, it must be met with accountability. Without accountability, the wound is still opened; the wound has not been mended, and it cannot heal. Without accountability, the sin is still remembered, the offense still hurt, and the person can’t forget. For the wound to heal and the sin to be forgotten, one must take accountability. “I sorry. I am wrong for wronging you, please forgive me.” Only then, will the person begin to heal. Forgiveness is not one-sided; forgiveness must be two-sided. One must be “wanting” to be forgiven, and the other one must be “willing” to forgive. We should not forgive without the offender taking accountability for his or her wrong. We rob the brother or sister of the opportunity to confess, change, and to repent. This is so redemptive when someone takes accountability. This also gives the offender to get right with the person and to his God. The Bible says, "If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them” (Luke 17:3). Accountability stops the offender from sinning against himself and from offending someone else. Accountability gives the offender the opportunity to make a wrong, right. It brings about spiritual accountability through confession; it brings about change through correction, and it brings about reconciliation through repentance. This is God’s model of forgiveness. David says, "acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin” (Psalms 32:5). In this scripture, we should see the collaboration of the one “wanting” to be forgiving, in this case: David, and the one who is “willing” to forgive, in this case the Lord. Thus, there is repentance and reconciliation of both parties, and most of all, there is a change life. Even God does not forgive us with taking accountability for our wrongdoing. The Bible says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Here is another one. "If my people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:13). In this above passage, God will not forgive them, if they don't "turn from their wicked ways." .
I hated my dad. When I got saved and read in 1st John that if we say we
love God but hate our brother, we are a liar and the truth is not in
us. So, I started "acting" in love towards my dad. I specifically

Right I love and hate it all at the same time!

God gave me forgiveness and love. I thank Him everyday.
I've heard this now 4 times never gets old.

I was thinking and praying about forgiveness today and this video came up. What came to my heart was "Vengeance is His". 🇺🇲🙏♥️
God bless, I forgive, God Bless
This is a generous gift from God to me. One that I didn't know I was in desperate need of.. ... 😭😭😭😭😭😭

YHWH BLESS!
Best Forgiveness message ever! God is so past finding out...His mercies ARE NEW EVERY MORNING! Thank you Pastor V!
I love this man of GOD!😭💕
Me too! 🙏💖
This message makes you see you and equips you to properly assess and realign. THANK YOU LORDand thank you Sir for the reaching!
This story of Joseph is one of my favorites..
Forgiveness is Yahs Liberty

Thank you Voddie. Your teachings are inspirational. God bless you and your family.
Thank you Lord for Your forgiveness Change our heart Lord through your Holy Spirt so we may Forgive others.
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Matthew 6:14-15 NIV
In other words, it's the juxtaposition between saying "they are forgiven" and "I don't want to be around them much because they keep hurting me."
But if you don't want to be around them, people say you're unforgiving!
"You can be forgiven as long as you change!"
So then, what can you do to forgive and reconcile when the other person just keeps harming you?
Absolutely agree.
Amen, great sermon Mr. Baucham.! Prayers for my siblings & I to learn to reconcile cuz I forgave all. Praise God
"....the poisonous venom of unforgivenous.".
A dangerous thing.
Thank you, God.
Thank you, Rev Bauchum.
A message that is vital.

@41:36 mark when Mr Baucham says “... that’s why there is an emphasis on the 70x7”: There is a reason why Jesus said that to Peter. It is a reference to the verse in Daniel:
“ Seventy sevens are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.”
Daniel 9:24 ESV
At the end of the Seventy sevens or 490 years (of which 483 of the years have been completed). The L-RD will our an end to transgressions as stated in the Daniel passage stated above.. which will be the end of the age (when we finish those last seven years)
So essentially what Jesus was saying to Peter is “ I want you to forgive until the end of the age when I will end all transgressions (which is Seventy sevens that Daniel prophesied)”
The Word of G-D is so BEAUTIFUL and complete with every word written and spoken!
Atarah Chomah What timespan did the 483 yrs take place
@@SlaveofChrist_ I was talking about the total of 70 weeks to put an end to transgression and how it relates to what Yeshua said to Peter.
You want to bring in eschatology. So let’s cut to the chase, what is your point?

Dear Voddie, I very much want a church home where I receive the kind of conviction and instruction that I receive with each one of your sermons. I have found no such place and the place that my son and his family worship seems to be light years away from ever attaining the kind of fire and fervor for Christ that you exhibit. I thank God that I have you to feed me and educate me in the Bible until such time that I can find a church body that can give me that same thing. I pray the Lord's blessings upon you your family and every Church to whom you bring the message. Love in Christ.....
Powerful teaching and conviction, amen!!
Thank you Jesus for this teacher . This was pivotal to my understanding how to love my fellow man. Amen 🙏.

I can easily forgive ppl that do me wrong but not when they hurt people I love . It's much harder
I needed to hear this here Glory to God
There were two thieves dying on crosses next to Jesus. One repented and received forgiveness. One did not repent and did not receive forgiveness. Forgiveness requires Repentance.
for God to forgive man, yes.. repentance is required. For man to forgive other man, no, repentance is not required, you simply do it. we are commanded to.
I can forgive, but stay away from abusive behavior. If the person doesn’t want to get help and work together, there has to be distance between them. I have no hate or resentment, I wish them well, but there has to be boundaries.
Great ,,love Brother Voddie
Oops Voddie
Amazing and Powerfully true.
If you can't say Amen say Ouch
Amen !!
Well this cut me to the core #thankyouGod
This guys mic hits the floor every 2 seconds
I also believe counseling is very important to the injured person. In addition, what happens when the other person does not want restoration? I guess and long as we know we have forgiven then, that's all we can do. I would love some feedback. God Blessings.
Look on Sermon Audio for a guy named Dr. Greg Mazek. He did a wonderful sermon called "Forgiving the Unrepentant". It's a great follow up to Voddie's sermon on forgiveness.
@@erikgallagher3395 Thanks for that!
God bless you ❤
Voddie Baucham, you really challenged me 🙆
Luke 17:3 clearly states, ". . and If he repents, forgive him..." That verse is not a "myth" it's biblical. Both sides have a responsibility according to this scripture.
powerful message of truth and grace.
why is the most important part of every message left out ?
The closing prayer is VERY IMPORTANT for the listener. 😢
❤
Wow
👍
What version of the Bible, does Voddie preach from? Not NIV, but, which Version?
