This makes me feel old seeing you say this I remember when I first watched squirrel and ets2 with Cardiff to Rostock disaster. Seems like yesterday but must have been 2015?
There was one of the "18 wheels of steel " series game, that allowed you to take an "overweight load" for more money, and you could make you're route in such a way to avoid all weigh stops and fines..but it would be longer. With the new route avoidance options it would be easy for them to make this also, and it would be a fun extra.
Squirrel they do have progressive fines in the US and they are dependent on what state you are in. Normally a speeding ticket of only 5-10 mph over would be 25-50$ while a ticket for going 35+ over the speed limit would be several hundred.
I believe the illegal trailer thing is if you have an owned trailer and you drive into a state where it isnt legal, not that it will give you an illegal job. Also the scania 143 has been updated on ets2
Most US states have incremental fines based on how much over up to a point. In most places, a camera cop is a flat rate fines regardless of how fast you’re going. Get flashed going fast enough and you just might get a visit from officer friendly.
People always wanted to get out of the truck for refuelling and stuff....If they will never do it, I do think it would be cool if they made them cutscene events and fast forwarded time accordingly. Just a little film of your character getting out and using the pumps and going inside to pay, skippable of course. Same for resting at hotels. And resting anywhere else you're driver gets out and uses any amenities. Not ideal for those who want to actually get out and do those things but I like the idea. That illegal job idea is nice. They could just call it illegal cargo, and the chance they notice it's illegal could vary depending on other things...like you could pay extra to "hide" the cargo which increases the chances of not getting caught but doesn't eliminate it but without the hiding method you can still get away with it but it is less likely. Perhaps they could add to it with when carrying illegal stuff, the police know a truck somewhere is carrying...so you may get asked to pull over and then the inspection begins. If caught, they take it away from you in a cutscene and a hefty fine....I don't think they will ever add jail time, maybe a mod could come along and give you a prison splash screen.
in SCS 18 wheels of steel you got asked if you could take an overweight load(s) or even a load where you did not have the unlock for it - like hazarded load
Wish you could get truck repairs done at your own purchased garages, and also make it cheaper to be done there rather than at a truck stop garage somewhere on the map.
I think the way trailer inspections work now is you pick a Job, then the navigation will give you the shortest route (by default). That route might take you through a state that doesn't allow for your current trailer combo. And you get fined. It also ties into trailer ownership and you having to be careful or outright avoid a certain state due to you buying trailer X or trailer Y. It's rudimentary now but it definitely can be improved upon. Question is will they do it? 🤔
We do have incremental fines in the US. Most cops won't even respond to 5mph over or less. Anything 20mph or over is considered felony speeding. Fine prices vary by state.
In ATS you can drive along and have a relaxed time. I watch tv or you on Twitch... In ETS2, if you try and do other stuff, you are going to be continually crashing, speeding, whatever... Both are great sims, just depends on what you are loking for that day.
I'm an old, disabled trucker. I drove for CR England and then Andrus. I love seeing that CRE truck in the game. My dad drove for Yellow Freight for 31 years. He would have loved seeing those too. I doubt if I'll be able to afford the game and I know I'll never get the driving gear (unless someone donates their old gear. ;) ;) )so I would really appreciate you letting us drive vicariously through you. LOL Keep 'em comin'.
Hey Squirrel, I think with the illegal trailer fines etc that can only be done if you use you own trailer, not one from a company on the freight market as it won't let you take trailer configs that are illegal in the destination state. In regards to the inspections I got a warning once because my tires were at 25% wear after several long haul jobs, I think if the wear and tear had been higher or I had different damage on my truck or trailer I would have got a fine at the weigh station.
Squirrel, if you haven't been to St. George, Utah you need to get a haul to there, they have what's known as a diverging Diamond. You'll have to Google it to see exactly how it works but be ready its a bit strange
I think something that SCS could look into implimenting would be a menu option at rest points of say goto sleep until a specific time, or do the standard daily rest period, as shouldn't be too hard to impliment. great to see this series back though Paul.
I own two trailers, a refrigerated dryvan and a tarped flatbed. The key thing if you do that Squirrel is get the dryvan, I have found that while the large cargo gets a high dollar their higher expense the best bread and butter jobs are the crate ones from Walmart and such, they get about 14K + and take little to nothing in expenses and with a good aerodynamic truck you will pay bennies in fuel costs.
I used to haul those combines(harvester he is hauling in this video), I have a video from inside the cab of a CLAAS Lexion I moved for a photo shoot for my previous employer. They are remarkably easy to haul, secure, but a lot of fun to unload.
Oh. Oh. Another installment from Squirrel in ATS Trucking Dairies after 3 years. There's some light shining on 2020 after all. Well, I see what you mean about the conversation points. Makes it clear why you don’t take very long distance deliveries.
Good to have Trucking Diaries back, it's been a long time but I understand & respect the difficulties with generating an entertaining monologue on a regular basis. As for the changes/additions the incremental fine system is a welcome addition, I would also like to see some form of a demerit point system too, this would be more relevant once you have a lot of cash coming in. Flout too many rules and you get taken off the road for a period, requiring you to rely on your hired drivers for income. I'd also agree with the idea of taking overweight loads or double/triple trailers through areas they're not allowed, running the risk of fines, also if urgent deliveries paid an extra bonus for arriving early.
The AI is an interesting problem. I live in Idaho and I've done my fair share of traveling. On the highways the slower traffic generally stays to the right and the left lane is meant for over taking. Also like you said when other cars are trying to merge the cars already on the highway don't nessecarily need to move over but people still do to help prevent accidents. It would be cool to see SCS actually implement something like this. Thank you for the videos I've watched them since the early days of Spintires and still enjoy watching
Yes. Speeding fines here in the US are indeed incremental, and usually goes by increments of 5. That's why if you get pulled over for speeding and are decent to the cop, they'll almost always knock you down a level or two (they caught you going 15 over but only write the ticket for 5 over or 10 over). This reduces both the cost and the points on your license.
We are getting 2 new maps (ID and CO) and 1 new lorry (Mack Anthem) from SCS. Squirrel the last Trucking Diaries that was Episode #48 was up on 2017.Mar.3. Did you see the 2018 Gold Coast games I was there for my play.
good you are back with a new episode of this. Hope more will come. Same goes for your ETS2 series. Been binge watching both series since i found they were there.
The US does incremental fines and they vary state to state. Like in Missouri, where I live, 6-10 over is $83, 11-15 is $108, 16-19 is $133, and 20-25 is $208. Anything over that is reckless driving. Also, that varies astronomically depending on who pulled you over, where they pulled you over, and why.
Great to see American Trucking Diaries again. Watching the beginning videos of Diaries this past December got me started on ATS (then ETS). I watched your earlier ATS Diaries videos to actually learn how to play the game as I had not played any PC game before. So now I don’t know whether to curse or thank you as I am hooked. Thank you and stay safe and healthy.
Glad to see the return of Trucking Diaries. I understood at the time why u stopped as u ran out of roads and places to visit. But with Utah recently released and Idaho and Colorado to come it looks like there is going to be loads of journeys/deliveries to do and discover. Have also started a new profile recently so will be following the series again.
Welcome back! I was thinking that you might have done several episodes every time a DLC dropped, but this is great too, as long as you don't can the series. I live for Trucking Diaries N.A. We can get out of our trucks anyway with the console.
I’ve been waiting and asking for years, I believe, for this series to return because I love it so much. I’ve also watched the series 3 times over because I enjoy the topics you discuss and the commentary. I’m so happy it is back and hopefully you can take a run up to Oregon, my home state.
I love trucking diaries. Also scs posted on there blog that the Mack Anthem will released on the 28th of April. I hope that scs add tornadoes in the future maybe with working air raid sirens. ..
You were talking about the faults in the AI driving. After a delivery I parked my truck at the side of the road in the middle of a town. A bit like as if I had popped into a café. I then 'flew' around the city having a look at what was there. Anyway when I got back to the truck, there was on car wanting to park on my spot, beeping its horn, behind it there was a line of cars, trucks and buses patiently waiting behind this one car. Not one of them thought about overtaking. Also the police cars were just doing circuits. It was so much The Truman Show..
I have re watched both playlists again 16 times each and I cant wait for ets.2 series again because I've had to start a new profile and need tips. Thank you for everything you have done for the simulation community
Oh wow, the gravel roads you drove there reminde me of some of the country roads we have around here. The probably wont run into that sort of things too often, but its the kind of thing that happens when the road wasn't designed with trucks in mind. A lot of those farming communities have been around since before cars were on the roads and then the interstate law. I'm glade you got a new video out in this series.
I did a job from Las Vegas, NV with rocky mountain doubles to Coos Bay ,OR and it initially wanted me to go through Truckee but I had to reroute myself and go thru Klamath Fall, OR to avoid the weight station in Truckee cause the trailer is illegal in CA.
The W900 SCS model is not legal in California! :O omg! xD Also, giving the AI drivers their own trailers works very well, just make sure you get the trailers that get alot of work. Flatbeds, box trailers, cooled ones... you know... not a food trailer or logging trailer that might not see any work at all. I always have trailers for my boys n girls... and they bring home the bacon real good! :D
I think their best option for more content to the game would be the management system. Add in more business sim aspects to our Garages and drivers. Allow them to take heavy loads and allow us to assign them to specific jobs and rolls so long as we assign the properly equipped truck to them. I would also like to see them add in the multi-drop option for jobs, which has been an often requested feature. I also would like to see them try to tackle a way for us to engage in convoys with our hired drivers, so we would not only be able to see them on the road, but run special convoy jobs with them.
what would be nice is if they added hitch hikers to the game u could stop and pickup like in rig'n'roll. i remember watching smoky and the bandit years ago. they picked up a load of beer to take to another state where that beer was illegal. police chasing them trying to catch them and stop them delivering the beer and they stopped to pick up a hitch hiker lol.
The game ought to notice indicators and NPCs react to it "appropriately". Since this would be a signal to the AI already to enable this for the players' indication, it can ALSO be used by the AI to signal likewise. An AI coming on a slip road to join a highway will signal to come on and this would be no different to a player signalling, causing AI in a segment of the highway that is prior to that junction to move over (signalling their intent, and conveying that to any AI on the outer lane). Problem is that OOP requires that you either have your object heirachy enable this from the off or you redesign it. You CAN just dig a hole to allow that signal to propagate outside the object heirachy, but if you do that, this is how an OO program starts to fail. You can't test each object, you now have objects that have no relationship to each other interfering with each other, carrying on the object state they each have inherited and you can find that something isn't set that something else in another object RELIES on being set, which could previously always be asserted as true because the base object would have set it up before it allowed the other object to be created. By digging through the object branches, you break that assertion and you can get a situation where they are not asserting correct instantiation themselves.
Thank you So Much for Bringing Trucking Diaries back. This is how I found your Channel way back in 2013 i believe and i have Been Watching you On RUclips, and Twitch, Just Wanted to Say Thank you for al the Content you Made and All the thousand of Hours of Streams you Do on Here and Twitch Hope you and Your Family Are well During these Corona Virus Times Have a Wonderfull Day
I know this probably isn`t the place for it but my wishlist for both ats and ets2 are: THE ABILITY TO MAKE CUSTOM LIVERIES IN GAME, similer to forza or the crew2, which you could apply to your entire fleet A full rework of the built in music player (with the introduction of fmod, this one really needs to happen), with the ability to set a custom directory for music with the ability to read the contents of sub folders, as well as support for mp3s WITH ID3 tags, as well as a couple of the other common sound formats (m4a, wav, ogg) Reworked freight market and economy Another rework of the ai, notably improved merging (cars moving over and less slowing down on onramps) Multi drop jobs Older generation trucks sold at used truck dealers dotted around the map, for a lower price, with a random configuration and state of disrepair Older trucks being inherently more expensive to run + random brake downs affecting engine, transmission, electrics, etc with the chance of brake down increasing progressively based on distance driven since last service as well as odometer distance (this would both encourage buying new, keeping on top of maintenance, and replacing/doing a major overhaul of your truck every so often to keep things rolling). This should also apply to employee`s trucks, which would not only add an extra layer of fleet management by making you think about the best way to refresh your entire fleet in a way tbat would be as cost effective as possible, but it would reduce the amount of bank you`d have by forcing you to waste more and more money the more you expand your fleet In terms of what comes next, after iberia comes out, I would like them to focus on updating the ingame features and mechanics of both games, add more secondary roads and interesting routes to the existing maps (notably in ets2), and focus on expanding ATS more quickly. As for a next game, I`d like them to give the concept behind 18 wheels of steel extreme trucker 1 and 2 another shot, only with the ability to buy trucks of varying sizes in both rigid and semi configuration (rather than predetermined jobs in predetermined trucks), and a large open world map (in a possibly made up location) with different areas of the map providing different scenery and challanges, and expansions either adding more areas or building on and expanding existing areas. The truck selection would be a mix of american and european trucks. So basicly kind of like snowrunner with less of a focus on mud and deep snow, and more of a focus on hauling loads of varying size and weight across dirt paths, down winding cliffside roads, through dense forests, across deserts (where your engine could overheat if you`re not careful), and up snowy mountains with black ice all over the place and the threat of a severe blizzard forming in the distance
I wish I knew exactly where this was, but off Highway 93 there is a gas station. behind the gas station there is an airport , and on the apron are 3 massive ducks and 3 tugboats bobbing up and down. I have a screen shot of it.
I do love the series!!! Even the long video was nice to watch! Glade to see ATS making a comeback on the channel. I have started a new ATS profile a short time ago. Loving the new northern states and their loads for hauling.
29:14 I said thing Mr. Squirrel imagine on (ATS) when can get out of truck buy gas or food @ service station . Yes some of my loads now don't have go to weight station but 2 years ago first start playing (ATS) had go their alot.
This series started during my first year of college. I have now graduated and it’s good to see you still upload once in a while.
Nice. What course did you took?
This started when I was in my sophomore year of hs. Now I'm almost in my sophomore year of college.
Hahahaha
This makes me feel old seeing you say this I remember when I first watched squirrel and ets2 with Cardiff to Rostock disaster. Seems like yesterday but must have been 2015?
@@thomasyoung5147 yesss recently I've been having thoughts like "wow this was this long ago!!"
Two things i would like to see them do is, 1. Allow you to park and rest anywhere and 2. Allow you to choose how long you rest for.
Agree, I would like see more trucks! There are so many out there not in the game.
There was one of the "18 wheels of steel " series game, that allowed you to take an "overweight load" for more money, and you could make you're route in such a way to avoid all weigh stops and fines..but it would be longer. With the new route avoidance options it would be easy for them to make this also, and it would be a fun extra.
Me: plays American Truck Sim for first time in 2 years earlier today.
Squirrel: uploads video on American Truck Sim later on.
Me: *a sign*
Queer?
If caught, they take it away from you in a cutscene and a hefty fine....I don't think they will ever add jail time, maybe a mod could come along and give you a prison splash screen.
in SCS 18 wheels of steel you got asked if you could take an overweight load(s) or even a load where you did not have the unlock for it - like hazarded load
cutscene would be a poor one. i think they should just let you walk out . like in the garage for the new update and fuel it yourself .
Channel LuckySpock - Left 4 Dead 2 could work, but what’s the real point in it?
Wish you could get truck repairs done at your own purchased garages, and also make it cheaper to be done there rather than at a truck stop garage somewhere on the map.
Wow wait up, trucking diaries! It's been a long while now, great to see you revisit this stuff again I've missed it.
I only recently discovered the game, binge watching all 50 vids in this series has been a blast. 8)
Keep “shooting the breeze.” I’ve been playing ETS2 and ATS for six weeks now, and enjoy myself greatly riding along with you.
Trucking diaries are online again. Yay. Love watching your videos Squirrel. Just keep them coming...…..
They can also work on bugs and they can make the traffic AI better
In ATS you can drive along and have a relaxed time. I watch tv or you on Twitch... In ETS2, if you try and do other stuff, you are going to be continually crashing, speeding, whatever... Both are great sims, just depends on what you are loking for that day.
I'm an old, disabled trucker. I drove for CR England and then Andrus. I love seeing that CRE truck in the game. My dad drove for Yellow Freight for 31 years. He would have loved seeing those too. LOL Keep 'em comin'.
You need to drive the most northern east west road in the game, up in Washington. It’s a nice scenic drive with some interesting talking points.
Nice video! But you might invest in gear indicator.. You could easily gear up.. MIght try keeping it at 1000 rpm on cruise control
Hey Squirrel, I think with the illegal trailer fines etc that can only be done if you use you own trailer, not one from a company on the freight market as it won't let you take trailer configs that are illegal in the destination state. Squirrel, if you haven't been to St. George, Utah you need to get a haul to there, they have what's known as a diverging Diamond. You'll have to Google it to see exactly how it works but be ready its a bit strange

For your reference you already traded the 143 in on a newer model in ets2 trucking diaries so no need to worry about the mod being broken.
Yep, he did upgrade it to the RJL R5 series. Not sure if that mod is still updated (as I haven't played in a while and often use RJL trucks) tho.
It's always nice to see trucking diaries. It keeps me up to date on things happening with ATS.

Could you please continue "this may contain nuts" ?
We are getting 2 new maps (ID and CO) and 1 new lorry (Mack Anthem) from SCS.
Squirrel the last Trucking Diaries that was Episode #48 was up on 2017.Mar.3.
Did you see the 2018 Gold Coast games I was there for my play.
good you are back with a new episode of this. Hope more will come. Same goes for your ETS2 series. Been binge watching both series since i found they were there.
That livery would look great on a restored Mack for non-heavy jobs.
Keep it up. Because of you I'm back on In months. I'm now trying to learn everything over again.

I’m just glad your back! I watch all of your ETS2, ATS and My Summer Car videos and love every single one of them.
Keep doing what you’re doing!
Get my summer car to return 😊
Remembered watching the first episode. Has grown throughout the years slowly but surely. Looking forward for more...watching from Jamaica
Squirrel is one of the main reasons why I started to make content on RUclips, I love seeing his interactions with fans and the amazing content
Happy to see this series back Squirrel. 👍 Be well!
Three years oh my lord that is insane
MACK next week!
Glad to see the return of Trucking Diaries. I understood at the time why u stopped as u ran out of roads and places to visit. But with Utah recently released and Idaho and Colorado to come it looks like there is going to be loads of journeys/deliveries to do and discover. I remember this was the series that got me to buy ATS I'm so glad you made another episode!!
I'm so glad that you have made another episode of trucking diaries NA, please do more trucking diaries
Yay more American Truck sim! Also Australian Truck sim would be nice too with those long trains
DogDude if you are interested there is amod on steam for Aussie trailers that includes road trians B-double and tripples.
Hi Squirrel thanks for bringing back Trucking Diaries US. I enjoyed watching it. Now I'm waiting on Trucking Diaries EU. Happy Trucking...
Holy crap and i just watched a bunch of these last week! Its been YEARS!
So glad to see more ATS! Thanks.
Welcome back! I was thinking that you might have done several episodes every time a DLC dropped, but this is great too, as long as you don't can the series. I live for Trucking Diaries N.A. We can get out of our trucks anyway with the console.
I absolutely love trucking diaries keep it going
Hi Paul, glad to see this series back

oh how I have missed these! even more so since the virus took over. I am a local professional driver but these vids let me relive my OTR days.
I drove for 7 years. This game might help heal my nightmares. Seriously.
So good to see you back in trucking diaries US 👍👍👍👍
I love trucking diaries. Also scs posted on there blog that the Mack Anthem will released on the 28th of April. I hope that scs add tornadoes in the future maybe with working air raid sirens.

Waiting for the oportunity to drive a Mack.... is such a monster truck
The closest thing would be driving booze through a dry county. Smokey & the Bandit style.
hell yeah!!!

in truckin Diaries EU you are in a base game scania, so no need to worry about getting a new truck
I really enjoying watching trucking diaries
It nice to see this series is back! You will like the food tanker or bulk food tank keep up the good work Sir
what would be nice is if they added hitch hikers to the game u could stop and pickup like in rig'n'roll.
i remember watching smoky and the bandit years ago. they picked up a load of beer to take to another state where that beer was illegal. police chasing them trying to catch them and stop them delivering the beer and they stopped to pick up a hitch hiker lol.
Did you hear about the Mack Anthem coming to the game?
Ohh really?
Yep it’s coming on April 28
@@zachbischoff1853 yes that's not long cant wait for that then!

SCS truck or a mod ????
@@kennethulriksen9628 I think scs will be putting it in themselves
By digging through the object branches, you break that assertion and you can get a situation where they are not asserting correct instantiation themselves.
what a great way to come back to the videos
On trucking dairys e u your were using a r gl scania. Great video.
Good to see it back
At first I wasn't even sure what this is, that's how long it has been. Glad to see this series again! :D
Glad to see you back!! With all of this quarantine playing a lot of games especially some of the older ones and the ones that get updates!
So happy to see this series back yeah
Another concept is to create a new game but based in Oceania( new Zealand and Australia
I'm just done playing for 3 hours, let's watch a video about it.
Thank you So Much for Bringing Trucking Diaries back. This is how I found your Channel way back in 2013 i believe and i have Been Watching you On RUclips, and Twitch, Just Wanted to Say Thank you for al the Content you Made and All the thousand of Hours of Streams you Do on Here and Twitch Hope you and Your Family Are well During these Corona Virus Times Have a Wonderfull Day
Good to have a new episode.
I would like to see more accidents and break downs like getting a flat.. more realistic stuff that truckers actually deal with.
Hey squirrel thanks for the videos bro makes lockdown a lot better 👍🏻
there is at the moment of writing this, 1 truck (mack) and 2 map dlc's coming for ats and 1 map dlc for ets2.
I am glad it's back.
I know this probably isn`t the place for it but my wishlist for both ats and ets2 are:
THE ABILITY TO MAKE CUSTOM LIVERIES IN GAME, similer to forza or the crew2, which you could apply to your entire fleet
A full rework of the built in music player (with the introduction of fmod, this one really needs to happen), with the ability to set a custom directory for music with the ability to read the contents of sub folders, as well as support for mp3s WITH ID3 tags, as well as a couple of the other common sound formats (m4a, wav, ogg)
Reworked freight market and economy
Another rework of the ai, notably improved merging (cars moving over and less slowing down on onramps)
Multi drop jobs
Older generation trucks sold at used truck dealers dotted around the map, for a lower price, with a random configuration and state of disrepair
Older trucks being inherently more expensive to run + random brake downs affecting engine, transmission, electrics, etc with the chance of brake down increasing progressively based on distance driven since last service as well as odometer distance (this would both encourage buying new, keeping on top of maintenance, and replacing/doing a major overhaul of your truck every so often to keep things rolling). This should also apply to employee`s trucks, which would not only add an extra layer of fleet management by making you think about the best way to refresh your entire fleet in a way tbat would be as cost effective as possible, but it would reduce the amount of bank you`d have by forcing you to waste more and more money the more you expand your fleet
In terms of what comes next, after iberia comes out, I would like them to focus on updating the ingame features and mechanics of both games, add more secondary roads and interesting routes to the existing maps (notably in ets2), and focus on expanding ATS more quickly.
So basicly kind of like snowrunner with less of a focus on mud and deep snow, and more of a focus on hauling loads of varying size and weight across dirt paths, down winding cliffside roads, through dense forests, across deserts (where your engine could overheat if you`re not careful), and up snowy mountains with black ice all over the place and the threat of a severe blizzard forming in the distance
yes the u.s. tickets are by speed certain speeds have different fines
Mack Anthem is on its way soon!
Good to see ats back on your channel Paul 👍 enjoyable video 😀 made a nice change .
YES!! The serie is BACK!!
I used to love this series. I still do
29:14 I said thing Mr. Squirrel imagine on (ATS) when can get out of truck buy gas or food @ service station . Yes some of my loads now don't have go to weight station but 2 years ago first start playing (ATS) had go their alot.
The Squirrel returns! Great upload as ever hope you keep it going. It was this channel that got me into ATS and ETS2
