- In today's video we go ahead and film a super in depth EASY tutorial on how to install an ECS Tuning Intercooler on our 2016 Audi s3 or any of the MQB platform A3/S3's. Fitted a Revo intercooler to my facelift S3 it is a tricky job, allow a full day if you are not a mechanic or experienced car tinkerer, fitted a new Forge solid charge pipe at the same time which was slightly easier with the intercooler etc out of the way.

man this was so much easier on my 2012 A4, still gonna go for it on my 2019 A3 but there are so many extra steps

Thanks Bro! I really appreciate these videos, this one saved my a-s installing my new CTS direct fit intercooler on my 18' S3. I ended up taking the entire day, and had to go back and redo a few steps. I also almost mounted the front assembly on unevenly , I caught it at the last second. lol I noticed the hood wasn't flush and the headlight was sticking out too much on one side. I had to really go over everything a second time. lol I was super paranoid working around the refrigerant lines since my 18' S3 has the newer more "environmentally friendly" refrigerant "1234YF". That stuff is STUPID expensive and I didnt want to go the dealer for a recharge. It finally worked out and down here in SC in the Summer, I noticed a tremendous difference. My S3 pulls noticeably harder and effortlessly especially at highway speeds. I was amazed with the results really. Next up Im gonna refer to your other video and do my CTS downpipe and go stage 2 with my 034 tune. I am really falling in love with this platform all over again.
I Would be lost without your vids completely new to the modding thing but got my down pipe and intake in on my 2017 s3 you guys are heroes to the s3 confusion love the vids 💪🏿 keep it going !

man, these cars are the most difficult I've ever owned to do an intercooler swap. my civic type r took me 30 minutes, just had to take off the bumper lol
I had no idea they put the FMIC behind the A/C condensor. Interesting engineering decision there.

Do you think it’s possible to replace the condenser with just removing the bumper and collision bar and the white clips.? I need to replace the condenser but I cannot find any good video for this. If possible it’s favorable to not remove all the things for the radiator or intercooler.

Did you have any issues with the hood not being flush anymore after the install? I might if messed up 😂
Actually we did but it wasn’t bad, but the way to fix that is to adjust the way the front assembly mounts onto the body. It’s 4 bolts on each side that can be adjusted to raise the whole front end or down depending on which way you need to go

On my mk5 gti I made the mistake of stripping off the two airbag plugs on the rad support when I was changing the support. I gotta fix that lol

crazy question bro. if i wanted rs3 headlight conversion, could i install those ? i know I would have to get the fenders rs3 bumper, hood,, possibly sidekirts and maybe rear bumper because im sure its all links together. but do you think all that stuff is pluf and play?
I'm not 100% sure I'm assuming it'll have to be coded. Not sure if it'll be plug and play. I know the headlights for the rs3 are a different style for 2016+ with the facelift

After doing this job the front of my car is looking a little off / Misaligned. Any suggestions on how to get everything lined back up. Could it have been due to removing my crash bar and not lining it back up correctly, or would putting the crash bar on a little bit unaligned even effect to rest of front.
The crash bar may have something to do with it yeah. Its gonna suck but I'd remove everything and see if you can see the outline from the original bolts/washers etc and try and finesse it to align it a little better if possible

Hey there, so to change the radiator yeah it’s basically the same steps yeah. Maybe a few different steps but for the most part should be very similar

How long did it take you to install and did you upgrade intercooler pipeing
About 3-4 hours and I had the intercooler piping from EQT already so yes I upgraded it prior!

@@RatchetWrenchesdo you need thr upgraded piping to install it ? I’ve got the piping on order and I’m installing the upgraded intercooler for a customer tommorow, he brought his own parts but there was no piping and he spent 800 on the intercooler
I had him order piping but it’s 2 weeks out Snd it’s in the shop tommorow for other stuff

That condenser is a huge restriction for the intercooler, it needs to go 😂
