Yes you have heard the melody in Bonetrousle, but not from this specific song. You're probably thinking about his actual introduction theme, "Nyeh Heh Heh," which (much like every song in this soundtrack) uses a specific leitmotif, the "Papyrus" leitmotif. Bonetrousle is basically an extended version of Nyeh Heh Heh. Also if you want more context to stuff about the soundtrack you don't understand, I suggest looking for a video that explains Undertale as a story. The songs really tie into the overarching plot.
The moment I heard "Your Best Nightmare" I KNEW you were gonna be confused without the context of the battle lmao Also I'm tearing up at "It's Raining Somewhere" because of the context 😭
@@Soda_Fizzy Your best nightmare is a very chaotic boss fight that feels very out if place, and a really emotional scene plays during it's raining somewhere else
@@Soda_Fizzy well your best nightmare is a crazy fight that's just all over the place and it's just.... something else. It's raining somewhere has an emotional scene
What's interesting about some of the boss songs is that when you are playing the game so many other sounds are playing as well (attacking, etc.) that I've associated those sounds as part of the song. It'd be cool to see you react to a compilation of the boss fights or something.
Your Best Nightmare was interesting to hear an outsider perspective on, because it's such a bizarre sounding song. It sounds so chaotic because that's exactly what the battle is- absolute pure chaos. It's my favourite fight in the game, though it also terrified me when I first played it.
@@vendettiavr personally no soundtrack will ever beat Shadow of the Colossus. Although I might be biased since it and Okami are tied for my favorite games of all time.
Your best Nightmare is interesting. First of all, it's title references Your Best Friend, the character theme for Flowey. It's also unique because unlike the other songs it's NOT designed to loop, strictly, because the boss is quite...different. Instead, the song is split into various phases of th fight. Also it's split in half, with the final part of the battle using a seperte song title Finale, hence why this one feels incomplete. Bonetrousle is straight up remix of Papyrus' character theme.
Happy to see you continuing to react to this incredible OST! Some more suggestions are: - Ghost Fight - Here we Are - Finale (sequel to Your Best Nightmare) - Enemy Approaching - Waterfall - Metal Crusher - sans.
You should check out "Can you even call this a hotel i didn't even receive a mint on my pillow or anything" next. And yes, that's the whole name of the song 💀
'Your Best Nightmare' is heavily based on the rythm of the fight itself. those static segments mark when thr boss's attacks change dramatically. The fight alternates between a hectic overwhelming onslaught of sensory overload and much calmer (but still tense) puzzle-like segments. it's such a fantastic use of music to get across the feeling of a fight
I would recommend listening to Deltarune’s OST, another game made by Toby. Toby also did the soundtrack for Deltarune, but I believe he also had some help for this one. Tracks I would recommend are: Rude Buster Field of Hopes And Dreams Don’t Forget Big Shot The World Revolving Knock You Down!! Lost Girl VS Susie You Can Always Come Home
@@nathanielw4204 Sure... look at this dude not adding "Attack of the Killer Queen"... how disrespectful... (jk, but I think it's my favorite or one of them for now)
@@gwinnellheald8592 Ohhh, how could I forget about that one!!! It's been a while without listening to the OST, but that one is the actual best, forget what I said about the queen one XD
I know you don't do playthroughs, but I would reaaaallllyyy recommend playing all of Undertale. You are by far my favorite music reaction channel, your commentary is insightful and you do a lot of it.
If you want more emotional songs I would absolutely recommend ASGORE and Bergentruckung, they’re technically two separate songs but the later is basically just the opening of the former
Im agreeing with everyone whos saying Deltarune OST must be next! but i have question, have you heard the Arcane OST? Its gorgeous, the last song will most definitely make you melt in your chair
You definitely need to listen to the OMORI soundtrack. This game is a masterpiece and has one of the best soundtracks out there, in my opinion. I recommend listening to ''world's end valentine' 'bready steady go' 'my time' (this one is by bo en) 'final duet' 'lost library' but If I'm being honest ALL the soundtracks are literally AMAZING
If you want to listen to more, I suggest Metal Crusher if you want something wacky, ASGORE if you want some serious boss fight vibes, Bird That Carries You Over a Disproportionately Small Gap if you want something good that sounds hilarious, Spooktune and Spookwave if you want something haunting, Spear Of Justice is something great if you want boss vibes, Thundersnail sounds funny but it vibes, Quiet Water if you want that sad but relaxing feeling, and if you want something funny Dogsong is for you. Sorry this is so long
@@gothfoxgirlAO3 oof my bad. It was I who had the themes mixed up. oh, and the first theme doesn't play in the hallway. it happens when he enter the fight UI before Asgore stops us from showing mercy.
Honestly, I just think you should listen to “Long Elevator” and “Ooo” because they’re such good songs. They’re just so tragic, even though they’re so short. They’re just so beautiful.
Actually, that one song (the second one) is the only one that's not looping. You have to stay alive till the end, if you die it starts agin when it ended. You also can't take a break during the fight.
I FORGOT TO MENTION! For the 5th anniversary of Undertale, they had an orchestra play the OST of Undertale! I also Recommend giving it a listen as well!
Man, this music is so entwined with memories of this game. It's so good. It brings back such vivid memories, not only of the game and the dialogue but of the fandom projects that sprung up around it
Ok, there's reasons as to why "Another Medium" sounds spacey... It's entirely an homage to Toby's work on the Homestuck discography, and Homestuck is a trans-timeline, trans-dimensional webcomic story you probably _also_ should look into at some point.
Desperately need you to react to the live orchestra they did for undertales 5th anniversary!! It just adds a lovely new dimension to the whole soundtrack and really just allows you to feel the whole intention of the game from start to finish! 🙏💜
Fun fact about Your Best Nightmare It has an entirely unused part left in the files Because the song is split up into different loops people found a loop that never got used in the files
You should listen to the Deltarune soundtrack too, my suggestions for specific song are: -Feild of Hopes and Dreams. -A Cyber's World. -The World Revolving. -NOW'S YOU CHANCE TO BE A. -BIGSHOT.
Love hearing your takes on these songs! I know you have a little gaming channel where you played a bit of Undertale a while back, but if you ever just wanted to make some content out of left field and do a playthrough of Undertale in the year 2022 Im sure a LOT of us would be so down to watch lol. It is really neat seeing someone with no context react to the music though. Gives a cool perspective. It's Raining Somewhere Else is forever in like my top 5 tracks from the OST. And I think a variation of Bonetrousle plays when you meet him, there's like an early version of the motif I can't remember the name of, then Bonetrousle plays again later I think? Been a while lol
10:10 It kind of does play when he's introduced. Nyeh heh heh is the theme used when he's on screen and Bonetrousle is his boss music. Bonetrousle shares the same melody but has new sections and different arrangement and stuff like that. I'm not a musician so i might have messed up the terminology.
If you want us to drown you in feels, then I've got some songs for you. I might have listed some of these before (or you might have heard one or two and I just forgot) but I'm don't want to miss any feels-filled songs. 34: Memory 61: Oh! One True Love! 69: For The Fans 81: An Ending 86: Don't Give Up 90: His Theme 92: Reunited 97: But The Earth Refused To Die
I kinda thought "Your best nightmare" and "finale" were in the same track so i was kind of disappointed when it didn't show up. I'm also excited to see you listen to some Deltarune songs
Your Best Nightmare is actually a reference to an earlier song named Your Best Friend, both are to do with the same character and it's a callback to it🙂👍🍊
(original comment by Sushi Roll, I just feel that you really should see it cause I feel the same) Since you've listened to "Your Best Nightmare," I highly suggest that you listen to its follow-up, "Finale." It's by far my favorite song in the entire soundtrack.
The best part of it’s raining somewhere else is how it reflects sans (who your talking to) because the main melody is actually a remise of sans’s theme where it’s usually really goofy and silly like sans but this song uses that same melody to portray sans in a different light to show more about him as a character
You really should have listened to "Finale" right after "Your Best Nightmare", unfortunatelly the experience is gonna feel out of place and incomplete when you listen to it now without "Your Best Nightmare" right before it but still, it is incredible
While we're on the topic of video game music here's some other ost's I really like that you could give a chance: -Pretty much the entire Hollow Knight soundtrack, especially the the boss themes. They're all played with more classical instruments and brilliantly written by the absolute genius that is Christopher Larkin and they make my brain explode lol. I like all of them but if recommend - Grimm - Mantis Lords - Hornet - Cuphead's soundtrack is also made with traditional instruments in the style of 1930's Cartoon music they're all really boppy and composed super well. My favorites are - Die house - Inkwell isle one - Floral Fury - Railroad wrath - Clip joint clamity - one hell of a time Omori's music mostly is very different from the last two, it has some very upbeat and fun boss themes but also bad ass and or scary ones like - sweet paralysis - flouring with you - chaos assembly - worlds end valentine But also beautiful emotional ost's like - DUET - OMORI
the omori+alter combination has to be one of the best things I've ever heard in a videogame. It's so overwhelmingly poweful, if pure guilt and trauma had a voice, that would be it.
What I find funny is the fact that you mentioned the "looping" aspect of these songs with Your Best Nightmare, which I'm pretty sure is one of only a few songs on the soundtrack that doesn't loop!
Your Best Nigthmare needs context to be fully understood, its extremely tied to the theme of the situation where the song is played, which yes, its a boss fight, its a song composed to serve as a theme for a completely insane psychopath, so if it sounds chaotic and unnerving thats 100% intended 😂
I would love to see you react to some songs from CENTAURWORLD. It looks crazy on the surface but the music is absolutely amazing and surprisingly deep!! Plus there are two seasons of songs so if the videos were to do well, you'd have plenty of content to cover for future episodes. I suggest: "Rider's Lullaby" (this one is brought back time and time again in little bits and pieces in other songs. It's the core of the show) "Centaurworld" "Taurnado" "The Nowhere King" (Huge tonal shift!) "Who is she?" "Who is she? Reprise"
Once again asking you to review PianoPrinceofAnime's remix for "His Theme". It's such an emotional piece, I guarantee you'll enjoy lots about it. Please man you're killing me over here
Glad we finally got you to listen to It's Raining Somewhere Else, and now we just need "An Ending", because if you want something emotional sounding, that one will do it
i really recommend just taking a look at a screenshot for the boss fight "Your Best Nightmare" plays for (search omega flowey), you'll really understand just _why_ it sounds like the way it does (I also recommend listening to "Finale" if you ever make another one of these!)
0:15 Once you know the context, you will be the one roasting. 0:46 we want a 72nd video 1:22 it is a techy song, so yea, we feal ya there 3:05 The worst part about the song is that they end. But if they didn't, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the other 100 songs in the OST. (There are 101 songs) 3:45 YOU NEED TO PLAY THE GAME TO SEE THIS FOR YOURSELF!!! ONLY A PERSON WHO HAS BEATEN UNDERTALE CAN VIEW THE TRUTH BEHIND THIS SONG!!!! 3:58 This gets the newbies every time. PLAY THE GAME!!! And don't forget to post your reaction. 4:43 As a wise Deltarune man has once said, "CHAOS CHAOS"! 7:14 There are 2 things I want to bring out here. Good job for choosing "Raining Somewhere Else" as your mood song. But YOU SINNER!!! YOU DIDN'T LISTEN TO "Finale" AFTER "Your Worst Nightmare"!!! AAAGGHHH! (jk) 9:15 Now you understand us musicians 9:45 YESS!!! YESS!! THE VIDEO IS NOW COMPLETE WITH THE TRUE HERO!!!! NYEH HEH HEH!!!! 10:10 Sort of, sort of not. This version is his boss theme. You need to listen to a "Nyeh heh heh" and "Bonetrousle" combined songs to get a true feel for it. 10:17 For how long did I not know this? 10:37 Because he's the Great Papyrus! Final comments: Listen to, Reunited, Ruins, Bring It In Guys, Hopes and Dreams, and World Revolving from the Deltarune chapter 1 track (Also made by Toby Fox) I don't expect you to read all of this, love your videos, do more, thanks.
You may be listening to these too far apart to really notice, but another thing that makes Toby just on another level is how many motifs echo throughout the soundtrack. Whether you do a reaction to it or not, I recommend watching a video of someone doing the Flowey boss fight (where Your Best Nightmare plays) because it will make the erratic music make even more sense. As for song recommendations: CORE Shop Hotel Spider Dance An Ending - for if you really want that slow, moody, makes you wanna cry song
6:24 The problem with Your Best Nightmare is that you absolutely gotta listen to the OST right after, FINALE, for it to make sense, they are literally not separated in the game, once Your Best Nightmare is done and you have been through all the six human souls phases (which were all the "different" parts you heard with the different styles) and the boss is disarmed, you can finally take him down and it takes such an epic tone you would have loved it 7:19 Yeah, you shoulda listen to FINALE right after but it's fine, you couldn't have known. This one is SUCHHHH A DIFFERENT vibe.
You need to listen to the Deltarune soundtrack now! Its the game Toby Fox made after Undertale, if you listen to the most popular songs of Deltarune theyre all bangers
I’ve been watching your other Undertale OST videos and loving them, but honestly was not expecting you to start off this one with Another Medium! All time favorite song that gets overlooked a LOT, so thank you so much for reacting to it! You just made my day haha XD
You should listen to Over The Garden Wall. It was a Cartoon Network show that I think still airs every year around fall, it’s got a really good soundtrack. I recommend into the unknown, old black train, the highway man, and the beast is out there as the first four you try
if you do another episode I would totally recommend Shop, Temmie Village, Snowy, Oh One True Love, and Almalgam. I'm absolutely adoring this series and would love to see you listen to some of these :)
you were very right about the songs being their to set the tone so right to the point that silence is one of the most terrifying sounds also the time you mentioned the song looping is one of the few songs that doesn't actually loop
The Deltarune soundtrack is something you need to react to. Alternatively, there's also the fan music like "Tangled", "Overwrite", and "Occisor" from Underverse and "An Enigmatic Encounter" from Undertale: Last Breath
YESSSSS you listened to "Another Medium"!! I think I like it a lot because it's got a nice base plus all the notes on top of it, when I first played Undertale and got to the point that this song plays at, it made me think of bomberman 64 (which also has a pretty neat soundtrack iirc) and I think it just felt nostalgic to me
If you want to listen to more of Toby Fox's amazing music, I recommend checking out the Deltarune soundtrack, too! BIG SHOT especially is incredible and definitely a personal fave, as well as Rude Buster and Smart Race
Bone trouble and Nye Heh Heh! Share the same riff, as do all characters with their music that plays, they all have a riff that you can hear either in their theme music or in the location they’re in. For example Flowey’s riff from Your Best Friend is repeated multiple times in every one of his forms, and is also the same song “But Nobody Came” where it’s simply slowed down 200%
So song contexts: The first song takes place late game. It’s the main theme for The core i believe. The core is one of the last area’s you visit, and has a completely different vibe from all the other area’s you’ve seen. As it was completely mechanical. Your best nightmare is the final/2nd to final boss depending on the route you take. It’s the boss of Flowey, and a completely chaotic battle. During this fight he has the power of 6 different human souls. Each having their own theme song. They have separate attacks and their themes play during these attacks. The static tells the player when a soul is gonna attack. The parts with “offtone notes” you talked about are these soul’s themes. It’s raining somewhere else is a song that plays late game as well. I believe it plays when you and a character named Sans have a small talk in the local restaurant. Though i might be mistaken there. Also, no, Bonetrousle doesn’t play when you meet Papyrus. Bonetrousle is his boss fight theme, but he does have a different theme just called “Nyeh Heh Heh!” which is kind of a simpler version of Bonetrousle. That’s the song that plays when meeting Papyrus
@@LiMe251 yeah, it’s been a while since i played the game. I was debating on rather or not it was Hotland’s theme or The Core’s theme. Seems i got it wrong in the end.
If you want more emotional type stuff, I'd recommend For the Fans. But I'd also like to recommend Ghost Fight and CORE cause they're just so good. And finally I think you should do Bring it in Guys! It takes parts of each of the main characters and area themes, gives them some changes and additions to keep them fresh and puts them all together like a medley in the order you'd hear those themes in the game mostly, it's not exactly in order but it's close
I really advise you to play the game . The emotions always hit harder with context. I think most of these are on the pacifist route. My all time favorites are fallen down ,home, death by glamour, dummy and Megalovania (even tho its on genocide)
If you were to do another video, I think you should take a listen to "Bergentrükung" followed by "Asgore" immediately after without pausing. Basically consider them to be one song, it's like that so they can loop "Asgore" for the rest of the fight. Its got a lot of leitmotiffs. It's about the King and how he's really a nice guy but has to fight you.
Love how he says how he is "relaxed" when he hears Your Best Nightmare, the theme for Flowy the Souless Monstrocity Flower Bossfight at the end of one of the varoius routes you can take in the game
When youre done with undertale, try reacting to delta rune music. Its another game made by toby fox and it has undertale characters but its not undertale. I have no other way of explaining that
I absolutely love the undertale soundtrack. If you want to do a pt 4 I totally recommend spear of justice, the song that might play when you fight sans, determination, and temmie village. All of them have interesting sounds and I listen to them on repeat
If you listen to "Your Best Nightmare", then you also have to listen to "Finale", they're different phases of the same boss, "Your best Nightmare" is when the boss has by far the upper hand and you are struggling to even survive, it's frantic, horrifying even, but Finale is when you turn the tables and finally have a shot at winning, it's triumphant and heroic. I also recommended "Fallen Down(Reprise)".
Since you’re reacting to the Undertale soundtrack, would you mind another video game soundtrack? The Hollow Knight soundtrack is amazing. A few pieces to start with would be Mantis Lords, The Grimm Troupe, and Sealed Vessel.
PLEASE continue playing undertale, I would love to see your reaction to seeing how the soundtrack actually fits in and supports the game (Also, I suggest CORE/Hopes and Dreams
so glad i got to do undertale for a video again 🥳 lemme know what y'all wanna see next! also... how are you? i wanna know what's new in your life 💙

For me, it's tied with the Shadow of the Colosis soundtrack
I love both it and the OMORI OST! Of course, Deltarune also has amazing music.
Same, 100%
@@robynio i love the omori soundtrack! definitely even more synth there tho
@@vendettiavr personally no soundtrack will ever beat Shadow of the Colossus. Although I might be biased since it and Okami are tied for my favorite games of all time.
You should definitely check out the Deltarune soundtrack as well!
Its so incredible!
Plus its made by the same people!
Also OMORI, the soundtrack is gorgeous
Definitely on my list for the near future!
@@pelmeshka7417 Omori has an amazing soundtrack!
@@MathewMcKenna Huzzah!
Would definitely recommend 'wanna be a' and then 'big shot'
Don't watch those two songs out of order!
Some more suggestions are:
- Ghost Fight
- Here we Are
- Finale (sequel to Your Best Nightmare)
- Enemy Approaching
- Waterfall
- Metal Crusher
- sans.
sans. is just an amazing piece
He should listen to amalgam as well
And "Spear of Justice" :)
Don't forget Bergentrückung
@@UsedUsername10 amalgam is a boppy song but I think it's a bit out of context idk about you but it doesn't rly fit. But it's a decent song
You should check out "Can you even call this a hotel i didn't even receive a mint on my pillow or anything" next.
And yes, that's the whole name of the song 💀
best song 💀
Or “Bird that flys over a disproportionately small gap”
@@skywatcher8893 you mean 'Bird That Carries You Over A Disproportionately Small Gap'?
@@Greggorto Ofc. I knew something sounded off lol.
VOUCH
'Your Best Nightmare' is heavily based on the rythm of the fight itself. those static segments mark when thr boss's attacks change dramatically. The fight alternates between a hectic overwhelming onslaught of sensory overload and much calmer (but still tense) puzzle-like segments. it's such a fantastic use of music to get across the feeling of a fight
I would recommend listening to Deltarune’s OST, another game made by Toby. Toby also did the soundtrack for Deltarune, but I believe he also had some help for this one.
Tracks I would recommend are:
Rude Buster
Field of Hopes And Dreams
Don’t Forget
Big Shot
The World Revolving
Knock You Down!!
Lost Girl
VS Susie
You Can Always Come Home
Can't forget chaos king, attack of the killer queen, and lancer
@@nathanielw4204 Sure... look at this dude not adding "Attack of the Killer Queen"... how disrespectful... (jk, but I think it's my favorite or one of them for now)
Yess! Gotta listen to 'a cybers world' too!!
@@gwinnellheald8592 Ohhh, how could I forget about that one!!! It's been a while without listening to the OST, but that one is the actual best, forget what I said about the queen one XD
also have to include A town called Hometowm
I know you don't do playthroughs, but I would reaaaallllyyy recommend playing all of Undertale. You are by far my favorite music reaction channel, your commentary is insightful and you do a lot of it.
I second this
I need him to understand the context of these songs which adds so much to ost
Yes. This.
i honestly wish you keep reacting to Undertale musics until you've covered the whole soundtrack lol
yeaaaah
please don't make him listen to it so many times that he has to resort to "Long Elevator" 😭
@@AlexPies1 ghouliday 😈
@@AlexPies1 Wdym that's the best song man
Waiting for "Ooo"
If you want more emotional songs I would absolutely recommend ASGORE and Bergentruckung, they’re technically two separate songs but the later is basically just the opening of the former
Im agreeing with everyone whos saying Deltarune OST must be next! but i have question, have you heard the Arcane OST? Its gorgeous, the last song will most definitely make you melt in your chair
Vouch!!
Agreed
Yep!
You definitely need to listen to the OMORI soundtrack. This game is a masterpiece and has one of the best soundtracks out there, in my opinion.
I recommend listening to
''world's end valentine'
'bready steady go'
'my time' (this one is by bo en)
'final duet'
'lost library'
but If I'm being honest ALL the soundtracks are literally AMAZING
I would also recommend “Pyrefly Forest - Cat’s Cradle”
@@robynio omg I love pyrefly forest
A home for flower (tulip) is really good too
@@MyrtilleChan totally. It's my fav version of a home for flowers
Oh my god definitely
Your best Nightmare without context, if you can't connect it to Flowey's introduction song Your best Friend it kinda doesn't give the same effect
Dude, you need to react to the official Undertale orchestra, it's genuinely my favorite way to experience the soundtrack
VOUCH
True!!!
VOUCH (2)
If you want to listen to more, I suggest Metal Crusher if you want something wacky, ASGORE if you want some serious boss fight vibes, Bird That Carries You Over a Disproportionately Small Gap if you want something good that sounds hilarious, Spooktune and Spookwave if you want something haunting, Spear Of Justice is something great if you want boss vibes, Thundersnail sounds funny but it vibes, Quiet Water if you want that sad but relaxing feeling, and if you want something funny Dogsong is for you.
Sorry this is so long
yessssss metal crusher is a BOP
ASGORE isn't really boss fight music that's Berstrummig or something.
@@madladdie7069 I thought Bergentrukung was in the hallway before the fight...am I backwards with the themes? Cause that could be very possible.
@@gothfoxgirlAO3 oof my bad. It was I who had the themes mixed up.
oh, and the first theme doesn't play in the hallway. it happens when he enter the fight UI before Asgore stops us from showing mercy.
@@madladdie7069 ohhhhhh that's right! It's been a while since I got that far Haha. Always get stuck on Undyne tbh.
It does loop, but only if you manage to not hit ACT during the soul sections
He really should check Black or Umbral Ultimatum
Desperately need you to react to the live orchestra they did for undertales 5th anniversary!! It just adds a lovely new dimension to the whole soundtrack and really just allows you to feel the whole intention of the game from start to finish! 🙏💜
Its raining somewhere else never fails to make me feel like crying
Fun fact about Your Best Nightmare
It has an entirely unused part left in the files
Because the song is split up into different loops people found a loop that never got used in the files
You should listen to the Deltarune soundtrack too, my suggestions for specific song are:
-Feild of Hopes and Dreams.
-A Cyber's World.
-The World Revolving.
-NOW'S YOU CHANCE TO BE A.
-BIGSHOT.
Where's Chaos King?? And Attack of the Killer Queen?? And that Palace one?
@@N____er I would have suggested those too, but he only does four or five songs per video, so I just picked the top five he should listen to.
You’re right about stuff sounding intentionally off!!! There’s definitely some use of quarter tones in Your Worst Nightmare, which is brilliant tbh
I believe it's called NYEH HEH HEH but I could be wrong. Hope this helps :)
10:10
It kind of does play when he's introduced.
34: Memory
61: Oh! One True Love!
69: For The Fans
81: An Ending
86: Don't Give Up
90: His Theme
92: Reunited
97: But The Earth Refused To Die
AN ENDING YES AGGGGGHHH
Note: He already listened to "His Theme", it was in his last vid.
4:40 "It cant just be this level the whole time"
I always love to see the reaction of people hearing Your best Nightmare for the first time
I kinda thought "Your best nightmare" and "finale" were in the same track so i was kind of disappointed when it didn't show up. I'm also excited to see you listen to some Deltarune songs
Your Best Nightmare is actually a reference to an earlier song named Your Best Friend, both are to do with the same character and it's a callback to it🙂👍🍊
(original comment by
Sushi Roll, I just feel that you really should see it cause I feel the same) Since you've listened to "Your Best Nightmare," I highly suggest that you listen to its follow-up, "Finale." It's by far my favorite song in the entire soundtrack.
I disagree in the sense that without context its easy to not even know finale are coonnected at all
It's Raining Somewhere Else is my favorite non-boss fight theme, it's such an amazing and atmospheric song.
While we're on the topic of video game music here's some other ost's I really like that you could give a chance:
-Pretty much the entire Hollow Knight soundtrack, especially the the boss themes. They're all played with more classical instruments and brilliantly written by the absolute genius that is Christopher Larkin and they make my brain explode lol. I like all of them but if recommend
- Grimm
- Mantis Lords
- Hornet
- Cuphead's soundtrack is also made with traditional instruments in the style of 1930's Cartoon music they're all really boppy and composed super well. My favorites are
- Die house
- Inkwell isle one
- Floral Fury
- Railroad wrath
- Clip joint clamity
- one hell of a time
Omori's music mostly is very different from the last two, it has some very upbeat and fun boss themes but also bad ass and or scary ones like
- sweet paralysis
- flouring with you
- chaos assembly
- worlds end valentine
But also beautiful emotional ost's like
- DUET
- OMORI
yes! the hollow knight soundtrack is absolutely amazing!
Agreed with all of these!!
the omori+alter combination has to be one of the best things I've ever heard in a videogame. It's so overwhelmingly poweful, if pure guilt and trauma had a voice, that would be it.
Agreed
For OMORI, my fav one is Bready Steady Go!
when youre done reacting to the soundtrack i would love to see you play through the actual game!!
What I find funny is the fact that you mentioned the "looping" aspect of these songs with Your Best Nightmare, which I'm pretty sure is one of only a few songs on the soundtrack that doesn't loop!
I wonder how you’d react to my anime versions of the OSTs? 😆
Two songs that I think you MUST listen to are Fallen Down (Reprise) and Ruins. Their both incredible songs and their very iconic!
0:52 MY FAVORITE SONG OMGOMG
Your Best Nigthmare needs context to be fully understood, its extremely tied to the theme of the situation where the song is played, which yes, its a boss fight, its a song composed to serve as a theme for a completely insane psychopath, so if it sounds chaotic and unnerving thats 100% intended 😂
1:20 I get the exact same feeling, and I can’t explain it. I’m glad someone else feels it
I would love to see you react to some songs from CENTAURWORLD. It looks crazy on the surface but the music is absolutely amazing and surprisingly deep!! Plus there are two seasons of songs so if the videos were to do well, you'd have plenty of content to cover for future episodes.
I suggest:
"Rider's Lullaby" (this one is brought back time and time again in little bits and pieces in other songs. It's the core of the show)
"Centaurworld"
"Taurnado"
"The Nowhere King" (Huge tonal shift!)
"Who is she?"
"Who is she? Reprise"
This! All of season 1 songs are amazing tbh
asgore, spear of justice, the song that might play when you fight sans, tem shop/dog song (it's the same song slightly remixed), waterfall
3:45 this is when the :) becomes =)
ID LOVE A NEXT PART!! These are amazing.
Allow me to suggest...
1. Spear of justice
2. Waterfall
3. Snowy
And just for a good laugh
4. Temmie Village
has he reacted to waterfall? that's my favorite undertale song and im surprised it hasnt been brought up yet
0:15 Once you know the context, you will be the one roasting.
0:46 we want a 72nd video
1:22 it is a techy song, so yea, we feal ya there
3:05 The worst part about the song is that they end. But if they didn't, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the other 100 songs in the OST. (There are 101 songs)
3:45 YOU NEED TO PLAY THE GAME TO SEE THIS FOR YOURSELF!!!
AAAGGHHH! (jk)
9:15 Now you understand us musicians
9:45 YESS!!!
Final comments:
Listen to, Reunited, Ruins, Bring It In Guys, Hopes and Dreams, and World Revolving from the Deltarune chapter 1 track (Also made by Toby Fox)
I don't expect you to read all of this, love your videos, do more, thanks.
Definetely would love to see more Undertale OST reactions, highly recommend "Bergentruckung" and "Hopes and Dreams"!
As for song recommendations:
CORE
Shop
Hotel
Spider Dance
An Ending - for if you really want that slow, moody, makes you wanna cry song
6:24 The problem with Your Best Nightmare is that you absolutely gotta listen to the OST right after, FINALE, for it to make sense, they are literally not separated in the game, once Your Best Nightmare is done and you have been through all the six human souls phases (which were all the "different" parts you heard with the different styles) and the boss is disarmed, you can finally take him down and it takes such an epic tone you would have loved it
7:19 Yeah, you shoulda listen to FINALE right after but it's fine, you couldn't have known.
Other UT songs you could potentially listen to:
Asgore
Finale
Core
Spear of Justice
You should listen to Over The Garden Wall. It was a Cartoon Network show that I think still airs every year around fall, it’s got a really good soundtrack. I recommend into the unknown, old black train, the highway man, and the beast is out there as the first four you try
YES I WOULD GO ABSOLUTELY FERAL OVER THAT
Oh my God it's so hard not to spoil what happens during these songs. You need to play UNDERTALE.
Ngl my favorite track from this game is the waterfall theme, the echo and sudden grand rise of it halfway through gives me so many chills
if you do another episode I would totally recommend Shop, Temmie Village, Snowy, Oh One True Love, and Almalgam. I'm absolutely adoring this series and would love to see you listen to some of these :)
you were very right about the songs being their to set the tone so right to the point that silence is one of the most terrifying sounds
also the time you mentioned the song looping is one of the few songs that doesn't actually loop
For example Flowey’s riff from Your Best Friend is repeated multiple times in every one of his forms, and is also the same song “But Nobody Came” where it’s simply slowed down 200%
Bonetrousle is the same melody as Papyrus' theme that you've heard, but the instrumentation is different and the melody goes longer.
some other awesome song that you should try and listen to at some point are 'CORE' 'Wrong Enemy!?' 'Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans'
Good, it should make you feel something in your soul, either determination, or extreme dread
Metal Crusher!
It’s such a good song, it’s probably my favorite in the OST because the beginning is just so chaotic
So song contexts:
The first song takes place late game.
No, the first one is the theme for hotland, the theme for the core is core
@@LiMe251 yeah, it’s been a while since i played the game. I was debating on rather or not it was Hotland’s theme or The Core’s theme. Seems i got it wrong in the end.
That “feel good” at 4:03 killed me🤣
If you want more emotional type stuff, I'd recommend For the Fans.
YEAHHHH "Its Raining Somewhere Else"!!! Im super glad u gave it a listen!! it gives me chills every time, its my favorite!! :DD
I really advise you to play the game . The emotions always hit harder with context. I think most of these are on the pacifist route. My all time favorites are fallen down ,home, death by glamour, dummy and Megalovania (even tho its on genocide)
I wanted to see his reaction listening to the song “finale”. It’s one of my favorite flowey songs and there’s all sorts of instruments played!!
I recommend listening to the Asgore Theme music it's pretty good :D
Yes
Thisss
"Well this HAS to be a boss song"
Yes. THE BOSS song
Still highly recommend fully playing Undertale for yourself.
PLEASE continue playing undertale, I would love to see your reaction to seeing how the soundtrack actually fits in and supports the game (Also, I suggest CORE/Hopes and Dreams
