Kate Bush did a cool live rendition of "The Wedding List" during the Prince's Trust concert in 1982. For the occasion, the musicians were Phil Collins on drums, Mick Karn on fretless bass, Pete Townshend and Midge Ure on guitars and backing vocals, Gary Brooker on piano, Dave Formula on synth and Peter Hope- Evans on harmonica. You can see that on RUclips.
Glad to see that you like this album. I am sure it will be a traveling companion for years to come!😉

In some ways she's doing a female version of David Byrne on songs like this. I can also totally see how this influenced someone like PJ Harvey.

My summary of this album, which is high on my list of favourite Kate Bush albums is: "This is when Kate began to spread her musical wings."

Now that you've heard this you have to see the fantastic film "La mariée était en noir" which inspired this song. When hearing this for the first time I thought - why do I recognize this story and then I read about Kate's Truffaut-inspiration. There's also a short video for this.

Not bad for a 20/21 year old (when it was recorded). Again all Kate Bush written and co-produced by her. Probably my third favourite Kate Bush album behind The Dreaming and Hounds of Love.

I always thought the guitar in this track sounded like it went through a Leslie speaker. My favorite is still to come, “Breathing”.

Hi Justin and thanks for this and I am glad that you are still enjoying this album. it sits very high on my personal list of Kate Bush albums. You are now rounding the bend towards the climactic conclusion of this album, with 'Breathing.' And now might be a good time to raise a couple of things.
The first is that you will very soon encounter 'The Infant Kiss.' For me this is her 'creepiest' song (despite some stiff competition from some of her other songs), and it is also possibly/potentially her most controversial song depending on whether or not the listener takes the time to familiarize themselves with the background to the song. Without the background, a first listen, hearing it only on a surface level, is very likely to give the impression that it is about possibly the very worst taboo. But one benefit of knowing the background is that it makes it very clear that it is not about that at all. it almost comes as something of a relief to learn that after all 'The Infant Kiss' is ONLY about something as inconsequential as demon possession - a demon possessed boy that the entity seeks to destroy and through whom that entity seeks to destroy everyone involved, including the boy's governess whose character is voiced by Kate. Inspired the movie 'The Innocents' which in turn was inspired by the 19th century horror story 'Turn of the Screw' the song is very, very dark but is done by way of a very delicate piano ballad which somehow only adds to the darkness of the scene.
The second thing is the 'Night Scented Stock' which is an instrumental piece that runs at just under 1 minute in length. The best way to listen to it is to listen to 'The Infant Kiss' - 'Night Scented Stock, - 'Army Dreamers' in one listen. But that might be unsuitable for a reaction first listen video, and might not allow you to do justice to your thoughts on those two other, full songs. But listening to 'The Infant Kiss' and 'Night Scented Stock, as one block and then listening to 'Night Scented Stock' and 'Army Dreamers' as one block works very well and it allows 'Night Scented Stock' to give its particular colour to those songs - adding to the creepiness of the first and clearing the pallet before the heartbreak of the second.
Anyway 'The Wedding List' is, on most days of the week, possibly/probably my favourite track on this album. To me it is her most post punk/new wave song and I have always felt that at times her voice sounds a bit like Siouxsie Sioux. And while I will always place Kate well ahead of her, I do think that having a song where she sounds a bit the wonderful Siouxsie is no bad thing. As others have said there is alive version of this on the Internet and yes, the band for the evening was insane. It is well worth watching for her performance, especially as she has to deal with a wardrobe malfunction during the song.
I have no clue what you will make of 'Violin' it is as mad as the Mad Hatter at a Mad Hatter convention - but her vocal is just utterly sensational.

Holy cow! It must be due to living in an English-speaking country for the past 21 years that I suddenly understand this rather macabre song's lyrics very clearly! I did get the gist of them when my 1st language still had been German, though.
I can't believe I've not heard this song in such a long time! 😅

    The lyrics you couldn't hear
    After she shot the guy
    She committed suicide
    Later when they analysed
They found a little one inside
It must have been Rudi's child.
