ISP when you get to the field marshal achievement, I’d recommend doing it and the By Merit Alone achievement at the same time if you don’t have it. Saves a lot of grinding, can easily get it by killing wave after wave of Japanese naval invasions
I got the sun tzu reborn back in the day by grinding out mao as a general and then promoting him, and I don't really want to do that all over again for a unit commander if I'm being honest

HoI 4 Focus: Add 1 land fort on territory you don't own
Also Hoi 4 focus: 70 days
Before NSB, Poland had a focus that gives 1 (one) level of infrastructure to 1 (one) state. For 70 days.
well they had to convince the japanese to allow them to build it
The new soviet focustree is huge, and you still have two focus that gives you some useless forts around Moscow and somewhere else. Both of them 70 days. Its pain.

The best way to get the Sun Tzu achievement is to just grind a general to level 9 and then promote them to field marshal. Obviously a career officer or a really high level general is best. I don't think i've ever had a level 9 field marshal without doing this.

I did a very similar playthrough a while ago. Japan just gave me most of China in the peace deal. Japanese are friends, not food❤

I just expect that whenever ISP says "in hearts of iron 4" I just expect him to say "A to Z" right after. I can only imagine the trauma he must experience because of this.
By far, the worst part about Iron Man mode is that you can't save manually.
Imagine getting halfway through a month of intense micro, then you have to get off.
As a grown ass man, saying "wait, I can't save my game" doesn't fly when the wife starts throwing dinner at you.

Xibei San Ma with border conflict spam is actually very good because you got a ton of neighbours also you can cut off the Japanese from having a land connection with China by doing a border war for beijing

You should definitely check a mod that recently came out called Ultimate Greece rework. It pretty much gives Greece the focus tree that it should have had when the DLC for that nation came out.
I’ve watched every isp video for the past 7 or so years and I feel like he’s just making videos to make videos and we’re just watching to watch.

I can't be the only one that actually prefers non-historical focus paths. Every successful campaign I've ever had was on non-historical with the exception of one, and somehow even on that one I managed to get Poland to accept my demands, and Britain to sign off on Both Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. So it was "historical".
l think one achievement l have is The Watcher- to obtain it binge on ISP vids on an unhealthy basis.

Ironman On, Historical AI off is what I always do in HOI4, iSorrowproductions, I think the game is much more fun that way

Allied AI needs a huge rework. Played as the Soviet's and survived until 1945 when I quit. England and America had 30 divisions each on tiny pacific islands and garrisoned every tile in North Africa with 5 divisions per tile. Never D-Day'd
Honestly, I only play in Ironman when a new update comes out and prevents me from playing mods (read: Kaiserreich).

Welp, for some bizarre reason if I play w/o it, I can accomplish pretty much anything. HOWEVER, when I start achievement hunting, my brain loses all ability to play this game. This sucks big time.

I never played Ironman until the last DLC came out ~ 5,000 or so hours into it. This is because I play with mods almost exclusively, and when the DLC came out they obviously all break. So I figured why not?

I guess you didn't get the lvl 9 field marshall, well, I did it recently with Mao china, I just declared war on everyone in 1936 and surrounded my capital with forts, it still took till 1957, yes 57, to get the general to lvl 9 and promote it to field marshall
