    Undoubtedly attractive cinematography but I always feel there's something melancholy about Jonathan's films.

    By 'eck, Jonathan, that was stunning (please excuse my Devonian attempt at your lingo!). What a beautiful bit of country and superb (as always with you), filming. My only criticism: never see a flatcoat picking up. Shall I bring one next season? She regutarly bests labradors at North Moloton!!

    • @JonathanMMcGee
      @JonathanMMcGee  7 лет назад +1

      I think there is a slightly different mentality with regards to eye and ear protection. Those new to the sport and possibility the younger generations are really cautious and rightly so. Those who've been shooting for years don't seem to bothered. Jonathan

    Walk with the dogs and SXS only. Standing and waiting for men to chase birds toward a firing squad isn't hunting. Alcohol + guns...now there's a smart combination! The Brits may consider this "brilliant"; I find it silly. However, they used to make some good guns though they seemed to require more regular "service" than many others. Perhaps that was due to softer steels that didn't wear as well as more modern alloys. Here I see what look like Italian and Turkish guns. However only a small number were visible.

    • @rogerbeckner6419
      @rogerbeckner6419 4 года назад

      I too like walking with the dogs, and I use a Zastava M70 16ga. SXS from Yugoslavia. This is a whole different style of hunting. It's something that I wouldn't do, but to each their own.
      A well made Purdy, for example will cost you as much as a Jaguar. And as you saw, you HAD to have a matched pair of them. In this sport it is about being seen and having the right gear. You would not be allowed on a hunt there with an autoloader. Or your clothing you use in a Nebraska Pheasant hunt. It used to be SXS guns only. They just recently let the O/U pass.
      A cheap Merkel SXS goes for $4000 and you have to buy two. You will also need to bring about 500 shells with you to the hunt.
      Not a sport for the faint of wallet.
      But I always wanted to go on a driven Grouse hunt. Not for the all-out killing, but for the shooting. I would only take one gun and pick my shots. Only kill what I could ship home for friends and family. The Tweed Set may turn their nose up at me for not shooting my limit, but as I have grown older I have found it is about the hunt and the memories, and not the kill count.

    How unsportsman like, similar to shooting fish in a barrel. Pheasant shooting to me means walking several miles with a dog for a chance at shooting one or two. Why not just go clay shooting and then to the grocery store?

    What's the point using 2 over and under guns, instead of using a semiauto ? Beauty of hunting? This is not hunting, this is only shooting pheasants... Some of them having the guy that switched the guns, telling and showing the game. Rich lazy people, who likes to shoot with guns.... Someone release the birds from a side of the hill, someone's waits on the other side to shoot all of them... Big hunters! A real hunter takes his dog, goes into the wild, and hunts wild animals, not cage birds..
