Thank you Mike, it was a great pleasure meeting you and really appreciate your trusting our recipe for feeding your bees during this critical time of year. Great explanation about the benefit of fondant vs dry sugar and utilization of emergency food stores during winter. Looking forward to spring soon and hope your hives remain strong!🐝
Awesome to hear you go to God thru prayer....so many people talk about going to church...not many mention praying. I had a queen quit laying spring last year, felt the Lord was telling me to pray over her,, got her out , held her and prayed over her , and next inspection she was laying! All glory be to Jesus!!!
Amen!! His cares for our lives, all of it. Things we think are small and insignificant are still in His sight, especially his creation. Thanks for the comment as well as the previous comment!
Morning Mike, good plan with the fondant they can process the fondant quicker then sugar bricks I believe. Pray over Everything, Prayers and Faith are the Best Tools we have.😁
“He is a stellar Saran Wrap guy. He knows how to do plastic wrap buddy! Ooh…” Love it Mike. Another classic video! I am debating ordering and doing another round of Hive Alive🤔
great video mike...good info...Inverted sugar like in fondant or stans soft sugar bricks involves certain ingredients which involves a chemical reaction in a cooking process that breaks down sucrose called hydrolysis …inverts the sugar into glucose & fructose - the bees do this themselves before consuming/storing and so by inverting it for them, you save them the effort. the bees thank you!!
Retirement is great! I retired 2 years ago in July when I turned 62 I decided if you wait until you feel like you can afford to retire you may never make it to retirement. It has taken a little adjustment but I wouldn’t change a thing.
22:49 This is the colony I was interested in seeing. Looking forward to the update with them to see if they really are queenless. Thanks for the update!
Enjoyed the video!!! Just cruising around the yard and through the woods chatting about bees. As for retirement, if you have any questions just let me know. I'll help push you in the right direction!! 😉Take care Mike!!
Hey Mike. Hope you guys are making it with the weather your having. The good side of the cold weather and snow should help with the hive beetles this summer. God bless
Hey Mike, I’m checking the weight on boxes every couple of weeks now, and have put some HA fondant on a few. Glad all is well there. God bless Brother!
This winter, I've lost 2 hives that had suger board on them. Best i can figure they where small and it was to cold for them to move to the food. Great video Mike.
Mike, have you ever tried putting a small colony above a strong colony with a double screen? I did that this year and during a warm spell I checked them and a three frame colony turned into a six frame colony! It worked for me! God Bless!
Yes, I’ve done that, but only in the spring and one time for reasons of short term storage. Never thought of it for that weak colony I mentioned.. What a great idea John. If it’s still alive when I look I might have to explore that idea. Thanks for the tip!!
Randy, give them a call and ask for Cory. Be sure you let him know the email link is not working. He will get you the info you need on the veil. It was a brand new product that debuted at the Expo, so chances are they didn’t update the site. Of course that shouldn’t have disabled the email link, but they want to know if there are problems.
I may be misinformed on this , but I've always heard granulated sugar (table sugar) is strictly sucrose. ( closest thing to nectar)That glucose & fructose sweetners where not good for them? Just what I've been told, just my two cents:) Jesus bless you for taking time to make these videos.
Yes, it’s all sucrose, but nectar is glucose and fructose. So if we’re simply living sugar into water, it is truly the only thing close to nectar. But inverted sugar is even closer. Jesus saved my life. I have to give Him glory. God’s blessings to you as well.!!
Fondants made with heating and cooling are inverted sugar. Inverted sugar can also be bought at specialty sources. Inverted sugar is glucose and fructose, and that’s what nectar is made up of. Stan Gore on the Facebook page, ‘Texas Friendly Beekeepers’ is able to buy it somewhere. He can direct you to the source.
At around the 17 min mark you say they put apple cider vinegar in their sugar cakes. Then you say the bees still have to convert the sugars but doesnt the ACV invert the sugar like the bees need?

00:13:25 I have been removing the leftovers and squeezing it together and laying on frames. 😊
Watching with my bees from Ascension Parish! 👋🐝
Thanks Mike! ❤❤❤
😊. Thanks for the video 😊
Retirement is great
Hey Mike!! Good to see ya!
4:04 Amen!! Love that!
6:06 😂
That’s pretty cool though! I can’t wait to see how you like it. Sometimes viewing through the screen with sun shining on it is very difficult!
13:18 Im so glad I’m not that only one who changes their mind mid inspection. Thank you for being real in your videos.

Matt’s fondant looks pretty good, may give it a try with the Hive Alive added to it as well. That for the little clip about it Mike. God bless
Love it, well fed ,til nature kicks in😊
Praying for your bees definitely works. I'm not sure if any of mine would make it if not.

Put candy boards on our bees today. Inverted sugar and pollen sub mix.

What is inverted sugar again, can it be processed, or where do you find a source of inverted sugar????

I cut the corners or any fondant not eaten and put it in parchment paper and feed back to a needy hive. Waste not want not.

No, not that I know of. I’ve never read that it does. Folks use it as a preservative and a gut health additive as far as I’ve ever known.
