Really nice to see the cross-pollination between the different channels. Too much snobbery against other types of riding in cycling, roadies putting shit on tri etc, this is good to break it down. All bikes are good bikes. Making me want to get out on my MTB more.
On a more serious note, yes: I agree wholeheartedly with Mr Scrofulous. I personally tend to lean towards GMBN, but follow GCN quite a bit as well. Seeing videos with mixed crews always makes me wonder why this isn’t a regular thing. :)
I think actual snobbery is very rare. It's mostly tongue in cheek, throwing jokes at each other in good humor. I happily follow and love both channels.
@@2WheeledMohawk Yes, but how about Si trains and enters into an EWS race. I'm going to start sending him a message a day on Social Media to make this a reality. We should all do the same.

That smile on Si's face after clearing the jump for the first time... that my friends in mountain biking at its finest! Best jumping lesson ever, helps *a lot*, thank you!
13:00 nah, that's bollocks, Si! I've always had that "little by little" sort of approach to my skating (and mtb but i haven't done that as much) and it's cool to see the mtb community communicate that idea so strongly - there are times when you need to just hit it but you gotta know what the hell you're doing in the first place! No shame in taking it slow at all.
Im a roadie and bought my first mtb/full suspension enduro bike about 2 months ago and started jumping right away. I can now do about 1sec airtimes and biggest advice that i can give is that at Air you want to be a bit crouched. If you are fully straightened you will be wobbly at the air. I also like to set a bit of comprenssion (few clicks) to my fork so that i get some support to the take off. Just my 20cents!
I struggled for months to jump, and then finally figured out that I am pushing on the handle bars with my arms before takeoff, which would always send the bike skew in the air. Then I tried to ONLY use pressure on my legs before the jump to compress the suspension and get that extra pop. So my arms are almost floppy on the bars. Instantly my jumps were straight and I felt a lot more confident. So that's my 2 cents worth for anyone else that has the 'turning skew in the air' problem!
This video is exactly what I need. I am making the same errors as Si on the jumps and hope to have the same progression to success. Great tips, slo-mo and convo. I ride mostly street but have been learning to jump, bunny hop, wheelie, the fun stuff, cause as you said sometimes street biking can get stale.
Love GCN and GMBN. What’s it’s been, 3 years since Dan’s vid? Si already has skill as a former mtnbike racer turned roadie and has done Cx riding and races in the last while. Not really a big stretch for Si IMHO. The thing now, Si has Blake as a jumping instructor, now how cool is that? To ride or hang out with either presenter, would be a fantastic day.
Honestly couldn't give one iota about mountain biking, but Blake is such a top bloke and never come across as condescending. So massive respect for him taking the time and having the patience with Si.
This is why Si is my fave GCN presenter. Also, the reason you're having trouble lifting the rear tire and bending your legs is because you're accustomed to clipless pedals. Happened to me too. All it takes is a few more days and your brain will adjust.
Very nice guys. Was hoping this woulda been on GMBN too. Giving hope to previously not so much jumpers that it ain't too hard to start learning (respect to Si, nice progress man)!
i actually did something similar recently. i'm mostly a road biker and i have a 29 hardtail that i ride occassionally. recently this summer i've been hitting my local (crappy) pump track a lot and i've been working on my jumps on my free time. honestly it's been a blast and i still can't do some of the bigger tabletops but it's been really fun working my way up. i think the image that helped me the most is imaging myself standing on the ground, curling up and then unwinding and trying to jump as tall as possible, and doing the same motion on the pedals with my feet and arms helps me with preloading my jump and executing it.
I'm pretty new to mountain biking and have to say you guys give a lot of amazing advice I love your videos keep them up, hopefully you'll help me become a pro... Well "pro" ish...I am in my 30s starting this. But I have to say you guys give me a lot of confidence...
Did my eyes deceive me or did Si attempt a baby tale whip on that long, final run? Great fun to watch a couple of my favorite presenters together! I'd love to see guys from the various channels sharing epic rides.
Awesome video, love seeing something like this on GCN. One thing I didn’t like quite as much though: that reverb on the voices just sounds wrong. Not the sound you get when you talk in a forest... fast decay but kinda high in mix. Forests do the oppiside. I find it distracting because it’s stereo and the short, but loud reverb trails left and right take your attention away from the dry signal in the middle. I’d say: nothing wrong with just leaving it dry. :)
Im a pure roadie. My dad has a lapierre zesty mtb that i borrow every once in a blue moon so go dabble on the trails. My fitness level from road cycling makes it easy so me to just focus on technique and not being exhausted. But i never do anything too technical or any massive jumps. I treat mtb as a recovery ride in a way. The fitness demand isnt nearly as hard as cyling but mtb forces you to think alot more. I still get the enjoyment of being on 2 wheels but without the burn.
Si sure can take away LOADS for his cyclocross bunnyhops with this. 😁 I know some cx racers attacking more than just tabletops (on hardtails) during off-season training.
Both of my favourite presenters. The dream
Tomas Proudlove If only Jeremy was there then it would be Triple Crown😂🤙🏼
