Some of the comments on here are disgraceful and have been made, I suspect, by people masquerading as Brummies. I’ve introduced people from Australia, Canada, South Africa and elsewhere to Birmingham and all have loved the city. Why? Because they came with enthusiasm and open minds, rather than to sneer and look for things to dislike. As the video shows, Brum has many treasures, some more hidden than others. There are places not shown in this video, including the Town Hall, Centenary Square, St Paul’s Square, Ikon Gallery, the Barber Institute, Cannon Hill Park and the Botanical Gardens. The German Christmas Markets are rightly renowned. The city has some fabulous pubs and the gastro scene is buzzing. However, Brum’s greatest treasure is probably its people, who are warm, funny and down-to-earth; the perfect antidote to London’s bolshiness. Brum is not perfect. The skyline is still quite brutalist, the ring roads are still chock-a-block with traffic and the city has some run-down areas. This is changing though. The city plays host to the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and some of the less pristine areas of the city centre are undergoing a renaissance. Skyscrapers are rising, warehouses are being converted and the metro system is being extended, with new lines planned. One of these lines will take you to the Black Country Living Museum, setting for some of Peaky Blinders‘ most atmospheric scenes. So yes, ignore the trolls and the snipes of the London media. Birmingham is a proper city with plenty to offer. Come and see for yourselves.
Londoners are also going out at all fronts to stop HS2. The largest investment project in Europe which would allow the UK great northern cities of Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds etc to flourish. Londoners trying to keep all the investment to themselves.

In about a week I will land on Birmingham airport and have like 3 hours until I have to take a bus to Manchester. Can someone recommend me what should I manage to see in that time?
Wheres your bus from? Follow the signs to the monorail over to Birmingham international train station, here you can take a 15 minute train to the city centre. If youre into shopping go to Bullring and Selfidges, if not Pigeon park is very close (officially known as St Pauls Church) which is lovely, and around the corner from Victoria Square. Keep on walking and you will go to Centenary Square where the library is, its free to go to the top. If you're leaving from Digbeth coach station its a 20 something minute walk to there, but again through the Bullring. If from Curzon then its 2 seconds away from New Street station where you got off. Also next to the Mailbox which is good for shopping.
@@capybara2450 Thank You very much, this is very useful. I am not sure about the place where buses go to Manchester from. I dont need shopping so I will try to see some historical architecture, like the Church park, Victoria Square and the Library view you mentioned.

After London and the Liverpool docks, Birmingham was the most bombed city during WW2. Hence why it needed to rebuild quickly after the war finished. It had to, out of necessity, build with little consideration to form and function and in the process created swathes of concrete buildings etc to try to rebuild itself. Got the reputation of being a concrete jungle. However if people care to actually look around it still has remarkable buildings old and new and probably is now the best city in the UK in successfully merging the past with the present.

can i get the name of your music?
Lovely city. Been there and I usually struggle to choose between Birmingham and Manchester which is better. Please do videos of Leeds, Liverpool, Cardiff, Bristol, Newcastle, Belfast and Brighton
Hi De U! Thanks very much for your suggestions. We have videos of some of those cities, and plan to cover more and more great UK destinations. Here's a few to tide you over until we do. Enjoy :)

@@Expedia ok. I've seen that of Manchester. Will surely watch those of Liverpool and Belfast. You're truly doing a great job on this channel. Never regretted watching any video here as they are all data well spent. And your theme songs are really soothing and sensational.
I suggest you begin visiting African cities not just the capital but other cities in some of the countries. And also try to include preview of these videos in other travel channels. I really want to see your subscribers in the millions already as you've more than earned it.
Some Nigerian cities you could do (this could include drone shots) are Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, Kaduna, Calabar, Enugu. Benin city, Uyo, Jos, Maiduguri, Zaria, Sokoto.
Some of the above cities are relatively new like Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo and parts of Lagos metropolis. Others such as Calabar, Kano and Ibadan have a lot of rich Nigerian history tucked in them. lot of history. While at Calabar, take a helicopter ride to Obudu cattle ranch in the same state and see some truly amazing hills with breathtaking driveways around them and the resort at the top of the hill.
I Amm Comingg Sooooooon❤ LONDON LOVE U
Your watchin the wrong video
This is birmingham
Wow
There is God and there are the peaky blinders
Might be a God, but sorry you wont find Peaky blinders in Brum. nothing filmed in Birmingham, was filmed in Liverpool and the Black Country Museum in Dudley
In about a week I will land on Birmingham airport and have like 3 hours until I have to take a bus to Manchester. Can someone recommend me what should I manage to see in that time?
Dušan Bálint lapworth museum at university of Birmingham!
1917 has good reviews
@@BusanDalint The canals aren't too far away so i'd give them a look too. Look for gas street basin. It's lovely to walk them on a day with good weather

This video is explained that how England is much more than beautiful any other United Kingdom nations.
Does Expedia use sliders to shoot their videos? Most of their videos move from left to right smoothly.
You guy’s should have mentioned Black sabbath
Quiero conocer Biriminham😍
After London and the Liverpool docks, Birmingham was the most bombed city during WW2. Hence why it needed to rebuild quickly after the war finished. It had to, out of necessity, build with little consideration to form and function and in the process created swathes of concrete buildings etc to try to rebuild itself. Got the reputation of being a concrete jungle. However if people care to actually look around it still has remarkable buildings old and new and probably is now the best city in the UK in successfully merging the past with the present.
The city is a shithole and also Coventry got bombed more than Birmingham
@@shintaromidorima3703 God you are naive, whats your problem with Brum little troll

No I don't think so but Cardiff is an amazing city they have done London, Edinburgh and Belfast so the other UK capitals but not the Welsh capital
Alright where is Garrison?
They keep their places clean.. But in my nation its mostly polluted everywhere 😞😪
Trust me, I’ve lived in Birmingham for over 15 years- it’s incredibly polluted and grim
I live in Birmingham, it’s charming, friendly and mostly clean. The majority of the trash is from tourists. So, never trust anyone that says “trust me” 😵💫🤦♀️
WM Tours is showing Birmingham no everyone. Exclusively in Spanish! ¡Solo en Español!

They forgot to mention Noddy Holder and Ozzy Osbourne.
Noddy Holder comes from Walsall.
There are loads of local musicians. Duran Duran, Dexys Midnight Runners, UB40 and yet you managed to name two and hit one wrong!
