You gotta love how most FromSoft bosses are either too insane to say anything meaningful or call you a monster if you kill them, meanwhile this chad just goes "Shit you're actually pretty good, go get that crown champ"
While an asshole such as godrick is acting all big and mighty in the first cutscene
No because he is here to test you in the first place, whether you are good enough to become an elden lord
He is not the only one tho. Malenia also praises your skill, and morgott kind of does reluctantly.
Because Godfrey was also a Tarnished
Bro isshin literally kneels down and let’s you kill him. Owl also praises you too
from a barbarian king with a stand to a street fighter character, this boss never fail to amaze me
200% Unga

Godfrey is the character I wish I could play
You can make your character buff as well, use Godfrey's Axe and his set. I wish his crown would have the beard, though.
His Ash of War is great for Rune farming in the Moghwyn Palace if you don't have that Wave of Gold Ash of War if you wanna feel like a God among lesser beings.
Bro is way taller than 9 feet, but I'm not sure how tall the tarnished is supposed to be
@@bigb0ss583 The player character's height in previous Souls games has traditionally been 5'7 and it might be the same for Elden Ring. There's a reason why FromSoft does this. Zullie the Witch made a pretty good video about this topic. I'd recommend you watch it.
His class? Broly
His phase change is so symbolic.
He realises his pride of Lord ain't gonna help him against you, and thus returns the fierce warrior he once was.
He reminds me of Hercules.
more like gaiseric
jesus... this game is so fucking good fuck the bad review retarded kids who said bullshit on it i fucking love this game and boss design ♥
More like a reversed Ludwig
His phase change is so symbolic. He goes from a fun and fair fight to retarded spam fest like every other boss in this fucking game.
that second phase intro was so fucking cringey
I just now realized that Morgott's corpse leaves a grace trail.
We can assume that Godfrey was guided by his son's corpse just like we, the players, are guided by the sites of grace.
After all, Godfrey is still a tarnished.
1:38 When he says his name and the music starts... Damn it is probably the most glorious feeling I've ever had in my gaming career. Unlike many other bosses this gigachad actually respects us and I can't help but respect him too.
I've been waiting to see someone comment on the music, it's wicked.
All these game boys talking high about a fictional character that they defeated in a video game sitting in their couch without anything lol..... go to the gym godfreys.... it's just a game grown the fu

Yes but radagons intro was cooler
Godfrey may just be FromSoft's answer to the community's wish. To fight a boss at his prime.
We already had that with Isshin the Sword Saint and Malenia, Goddess of Rot.
@@assman7218 True but Isshin is a different case and Malenia is optional
Godfrey stands out because he's in the same league as Gehrman and Gwyn, and he's actually alive instead of brought back
@@boid9761 why isshin is a different case? Isshin is a lord, a living legend , legendary sword man even called sword saint and we fight him at his prime while he also have access to different weapons and techniques such as spear, gun and lighting. Not only sword. Plus he even got a buff because he was immortal. He has given his all. Everything he got. Plus he also has badass and honorable death. He is badass from the begining to The very end.
Isshin represented everything good with Dex. I call him the Peak of Dexterity the same way Hourah Loux is Peak Strength. What makes Isshin different is that he's pulled out of the afterlife while Godfrey still lives.
@@boid9761 I can't see how he is different from Isshin and Malenia. You wrote this was the first time From Software answered the call of fighting a boss at their prime, never that they needed to be alive, being non optional and a strength build.
Even if Malenia is an optional boss she still reaches her peak when fighting with you, becoming the second goddess and one of the most difficult boss battles you can have in Elden Ring.
Isshin may have died but you're able to fight against a living legend, the most powerful swordsman in Sekiro.
I also forgot Owl (father) at Hirata Estate. He is stated to be in his prime if you visit his memory and is far more dangerous than his previous boss fight.
Hoarah Loux did the impossible: he made an unarmed build viable.
00:33 What I love of the cutscene is that his grace is pointing directly at us.
We are as much of a boss to him as he is to us.
In this battle between The first and the last tarnish, Whoever wins advances to the throne.
I love the fact that Godfrey loved Morgott. At least one person on Morgott’s life beside his twin brother acknowledged and loved him
Godfrey is probably one of the few bosses in the game (other than Tree Sentinel off the top of my head, lol) who still has an air of earned nobility around him. It's typical FromSoftware to shroud bosses in tragedy, qua Radahn, but Godfrey really feels like a Lord, and he at least in the fight seems like he's almost still clinging to how things were before the start of the game. Other bosses seem ragged, old, and broken. It really throws me for a loop, and it's awesome.
He was a bit disconnected with the goings on in the Lands Between. When he left, things we're fine. Godwyn soul hadn't been obliterated, Malenia wasn't even a thought in anyone's mind, and World War Elden Ring hadn't ruined the land.
So , Jojo in first phase, and senator Armstrong in second. I already love this boss.
naw, kratos come get yo man,he in the wrong game
"Senator Armstrong" lmao

0:35 I love the fact that the guidance of grace is pointing Godfrey towards the player
wow yeah! its greater will telling godfrey that his place isnt at the erdtree(at least not yet) but to destroy our tarnish
The Elden Ring story boss fights are all so cool. The way he jumps towards you in the second face for the grab is so simple yet scary!
Once I learned his moveset, this became the most fun boss fight in the game for me. Jumping over his ground slams is satisfying.
Took a bit to notice. But there’s some Grace lines coming out of Godfrey when he lays Morgott, and they’re pointing to YOU. Hoarah Loux’s greatest obstacle is you.
All those combos he did in his second form are worthy of a play-by-play commentator from the NBA. "Ope, he's doing the cross-arm dash an OH MY GOODNESS THE TARNISHED GOT HURLED ACROSS THE FIELD!"
"Godfrey is on his knee, what is he going to d- OH MY GOD IS THAT HOARAH LOUX WITH A STEEL CHAIR?!"
"The tarnished is on the defense now, and here comes Hoarah charging, OH MY GOD THE TARNISHED IS TOSSED INTO THE AIR WITH A BODY SLAM FOLLOW UP! IS HE STILL ABLE TO FIGHT?!"
"When grandpa started throwing hands, that's when we all realized he wasn't full of shit. grandpa was trying to warn us, he was hardcore. he could've fucking killed god if he wanted. in fact god specifically made him a lord because he was terrified of what might happen if grandpa ever got mad. All this time we thought grandpa was just some goofy old man with dreams of a bygone era, but no, grandpa was being NICE! he was being generous and sparing our lives. the moment that old fuck started throwing hands, we realized we never wanted to throw hands back. entire nations trembled before that old bastard's raw unadulterated power. this dude could eat lions for breakfast!! I have dedicated my entire life to being able to throw hands with grandpa as a precaution because the thought of him ever being angry gives me nightmares."

"Don't fuck with this ELDEN LORD"
From fighting a elden lord with a jojo stance to fighting a WWE viking that will pile drive you into the ground from the air, i can't help but love this guy.
Nice to see a melee actually take this guy down I’ve been trying to get him for the better part of a day and can’t beat him. So close to rage quitting over how tough he is.
Hoarfrost Stomp with a +7 Mimic was how I did it.
I got his 1st phase down so well I could do it without a hit. But the second phase was insane. Took me a while to get the hang of it eventually did it but with no potions left
I am using str build
Can confirm it’s about getting the hand of how many attacks you can make before you dodge
Mad respect for the appraisal that Godfrey gives after he's defeated. He acknowledges the player's skill and says they're worthy of being Elden Lord. He truly is a warrior at heart.
“Upon my name as Godfrey” **music starts** “the first elden lord” CHILLS MAN
I'm pretty sure this happens with everyone but when you watch these videos on these bosses you think it's simple enough but 30 or 50 sec. Later you get your shit kicked in more ways than one
Yeah, you can see them splice together the cutscene from the first time they meet the boss for the sake of the cool cutscene, and where it cuts to the run they succeeded in.
This boss fight is straight outta God of War. It feels like fighting Alrik & Hercules both at once. Epic af🤙🏼🔥🤙🏼🔥🤙🏼🔥
"finally killed Godfrey!"
-Hoarah Loux unlocked: *These Hands*
2:09 was perfectly in sycn with the music
While the grace you see in the cutscene pointing to the player could be interpreted as the greater will trying to direct Godfrey to stop you, i think it has another meaning. Godfrey had killed every worthy opponent in the lands between. Thats why he took all the tarnished to other lands to wage war, so he could find more worthy opponents. But now the lands between has one last worthy foe for him, you. Thats why he waits until the very last place he could find you before you finish off radagon. He knows this is when you'll be at your strongest. And when you beat him, he congratulates you. Saying you are worthy of becoming elden lord for defeating someone as strong as him.
U can see that he holds morgott in his arms and he turns into this "particles" (?)
But yes it looks exactly like that guiding grace...
Maybe it's morgotts last wish for his father to stop us? Like his own guidance?
I mean the game tells us that Godfrey lost his guiding grace because Marika took that from him.
In unpatched, this man has 2, that's right, TWO health bars that boast around 25,000 hp each. So you basically have to take his health bar all to way down and THEN fight him as Horah Loux with max health again.
Despite what his remembrance claimed someone did love Morgott.
I don't know if someone pointed this out already. But I just noticed that when Morgott's body vanishes, there's a guidance of grace, and it points toward the player
Bro is doing an all hit run

my favorite part about this boss fight is when he goes to phase 2 and then grabs me twice in a row and i die
This isn't a boss fight against a monster or a god, this is a fight against a being of pure unfiltered testosterone, and the spectral lion that was made for the express purpose of keeping him from ripping people in half with his bare hands

I love how at the start Godfrey is talking with his son and repressing all of his rage against you. When serosh roars you can feel him letting go without showing it. And then you the player just walk up behind him. You know he’s angry but again he is suppressing it to tell you that you’ve made it too far and you did too well and that the title of elden lord is so close.
The reason he didn’t get mad was because serosh is supposed to be the living embodiment of his rage

Probably as a warm-up to fighting the real deal.
I wonder if no damage taken can happen with this guy ? 🤔
Funny how i beat this guy in my second try but i am struggling with radagon and Elden beast
So many bosses, I almost had them in 1-2 tries, but when I died they became exponentially harder. It's as if the first time around they take some time to pick up the pace, but after than they seem to memorize your movement patterns and save them for subsequent fights.
Radagon the wolf guys?
@@elpsykoongro5379 no, radagon of the golden order. The wolf is just his pet
so is he actually Hoarah Loux or is he just adopting his style? Weren't these gods and the Tarnished different?
He is the first Tarnished
Tarnished are basically who lost powers of the Erdtree, or else they were previously same race as the Gods
Hoarah Loux is his actual name, Godfrey is the name granted to him when he became an Elden Lord.
His original name was/is Hoarah Loux, whe he finished his conquest he eventually god married to Queen Marika and changed his name to Godfrey, the Lion he carries on his back is actually something that suppresses his lust for battle.
He later got banished and became a tarnished himself. Him killing the beast on his back is symbolizing him returning to his true self.
Hoarah Loux is Godfrey, but Hoarah was a barbarian/monk. Obviously when he became elden lord he couldnt present himself as Hoarah Loux, the barbarian, so he became godfrey, a name suited for a lord
This is probably my favorite boss in the game, followed closely by Placidusax
Your choice same with me but i have Radahn & King Margitt too on list standing with them.
@@arik2216 Radahn, I felt, was too dependent on using summons to be really enjoyable. Since the nerf, I'd say they went too far in the opposite direction. Morgott I thought was fine, but nother spectacular. Also loved the Rykard fight
