@@GPOutdoors I use a little copper anti-seize on the bolts and it works great! My previous mower had instructions to use it so I use it on the Kubota. The bolts always come right out.

One of the great feelings of gratitude - having a piece of equipment fully serviced and ready to face the season. We all cringe a bit when it’s maintenance day, but it does have its own rewards. Still waiting for that iso-tunes email... smile. Enjoy your day in paradise. Cheers.
LOL! Good morning Paul. Yup, so true - but I agree. Feels great when you finish putting away all the tools and grease , and sit back. Hope you are enjoying the long weekend - Good luck in the contest!
Good day eh!!! Maintenance is job #1 at GP Outdoors!!! Nice job Gord. Your mower is all ready to go and it should be worry free for the season now!!! Thanks for the tips and take care
Good morning Jean! Yup, it is a must-have for sure. The girls were pretty excited to see them - they were a little late this year. I hope you are keeping well. Getting warmer and it feels so nice in the mornings to see the sunrise. You must be keeping busy - wish you all the best!
Good tip to grind the back of the blade instead of the front to balance the blades. I’m going to remember that. Thank you for another informative video.
Gp Get a 60 grit sanding disc for your grinder to sharpen mower blades Does the job in minutes and you don’t have to worry about messing up the angle or taking off too much material
Thanks for sharing with us Gord, you and Guy made short order of the blade sharpening and you serviced it right also. Loved the intro to the video, nature at it’s finest. Stay safe up there and keep having fun. Fred 🙏🏻🙏🏻👋👋👍👍👏🏻👏🏻
Morning Fred! The girls were pretty excited that the babies finally emerged. We started thinking perhaps an Osprey or something had got to the nest. Keep well!
Glad you pointed out supporting the loader while working under it, many new owners don't think about that. I made cylinder supports out of angle iron. Just cut them to the length of the exposed cylinder rod when fully raised. I hold them on the rod with magnets (for my BX they are 14" long. When I'm done - the same magnets attach them to my ROPS for storage!
Good video GP. It is also a good idea to remove grass clinging to the deck when doing maintenance. A pressure washer helps with that a lot. If you feel so inclined after that, hit the bare metal with some paint too.
I like using the sandpaper style grinder wheels. With the fine grit it gives a smooth edge. I seen where people are using a high quality ceramic coating for the belly of the deck and seams to make it easy to clean.
That’s a great idea Are use the same turtle wax spray on ceramic that I use on my cars on all of my metal and plastic equipment and it does a great job
Seems like LandPride put some decent thought into the serviceability of that mower. Didn't look like it was too hard to access the maintenance points at all. Good video!
On my old finish mower (not Land Pride) the blade bolts were left hand threaded for safety, ie. Use forward on the impact gun to remove them and reverse to tighten. I assume that Land Pride uses convential bolt threads. Great servicing tips.
Thanks Gord, it may be worth reminding your viewers that they should check before attempting to remove blades ( on any mower) since they might be tightening the blade bolt with an impact gun while mistakenly believing they are removing the bolt. Many of your channel followers are new to tractor implements. So when will you be like Mike Morgan and quit your day job? 😀
Great video, GP! I use my tail gate as a work surface all the time too! Good job measuring the angle of the grounded blade surface. I had never thought of doing that. You are all set for your short growing. season! Cheers!
Morning Michael. Yes, not much time for cutting before it gets scorched till September. Hey, how do you like your belly mower? One of our subscribers was asking for some honest feedback on the belly mower. Maybe you could pop out a video about it at some point. Take care!
@@GPOutdoors I could do a video on my belly mower. . My tractor is in the shop right now, the connections for the swift tach loader were leaking. I get on that when I get it back. I miss my orange friend!
Nice pmcs. Few things... 1) Good job completely greasing the implement and pto shaft. One thing to double check after you pull the telescope pto apart make sure the universal joints/yokes are phased correctly. Some pto shafts can only go together one way and some can go 3 or 4 ways. This can allow yokes to get out of phase and will lead to vibration. 2) I’m glad you supported your loader but also remember there is a weak link still...the straps. Always place some sort of block or stand directly under the deck itself. 3) Balancing blades...to lighten heavy end grind on the very end of the blade. The perpendicular. It will take minimal material removed being this is the furthest distance from center. Is this attachment quick hitch compatible?
GP, I see it's already been mentioned to use anti-cease on the blade bolts. I've been doing this for over 30 years. Every two or three years I clean the bolt threads and apply fresh anti-cease. On my garden tractors I sharpen the blades once or twice a year. Same two sets of blades for 18 years on two tractors. Also after grinding blades with angle grinder I use a 80 grit sanding disc to finish.
I used wheel bearing (red) in the spindels of my mower (commercial lawn care business) those spindle can run hot, the red stuff does great. Also, use a flap disc to sharpen the blades instead of a grinding disc, nicer finish, smoother, and easier. Love the videos.
Was kinda surprised you didn't power wash the underside of the mower. One other thing that you took care of is getting all the old grass build up off the blade which can affect he balancing. Great video.
When checking the belt if you are without the tool use a fish scale and pull the prober amount of pounds and measure. I use that no my motorcycle and it is right on.
Absolutely perfect video for teaching me how to do this. While most of my mowers are new this year (Kubota Z421 mower and the Brush hog for my Kubota LX2610), I'll be returning next spring to perform this!!! I just need to know how to do this on my Brush hug which currently has the mulch blades on it.
If only my blades lasted a full season, but that's what I get for living on a sandhill. I do have a set of self-sharpening blades coming... I'm interested to see how they hold up to the sand. Cheers!
Greetings from eastern Ontario. Lots of great tips GP. If everyone performed their maintenance to your standards, their equipment would last a lot longer and have fewer breakdowns. Cheers.
Good morning L! Hope you have been enjoying our long weekend. Got lucky yesterday - very warm but windy - kept the black flies away all day. All the best!
Hey Gord, you might want to add some grease zerk covers to your equipment. Not only are they bright yellow (from lock'n'lube at least) so they help you find them, but they also help to keep dirt and debris out of the zerk.
I never thought I would encounter something worse than the old button style PTO attachments until I dealt with the first ring style one. It has been a hate-hate relationship ever since. Hah
Also not sure if they sell it in Canada... But try PB Blaster for penetrating oil... It makes WD-40 look like diesel fuel when you compare effectiveness.
To maintain the angle easier when grinding try putting the blade into the throat of the vice at an angle so the bevel is parallel and level with the floor thus you only have to concentrate on keeping the grinder level while grinding!
i gave up on sharpening the blades my corded impact wouldn't budge the bolts even after hitting with lube. got a file and did the best i could with them on the deck
Hey man, how do you know when to stop greasing for the end spools on top of the deck? I don’t see any come out which is when I usually stop greasing. Manual doesn’t specify.
Hey folly! I know what you mean. Sorry, I can't say for sure , but for me, I only pump in 2-3 squirts. But I grease regularly. So I figure I should be ok. Wish I could have been of better help.
Hello fellow GP followers...Spring is here! Saw 2 Canada geese families while kayaking on the river and I was going to move my stove wood in the shed and a robin nest on the cord with 3 blue eggs stopped that project.
Hi GP We had our geese show up with four goslings one day and then a coyote started showing up the next day so the geese and family haven't been back. ☹ Kroil is even better then WD40! Cheers from MA!
Two questions. First, do you have to sync the cutting blades, or do they have enough end clearance? Second, do you have a recommendation for bib overalls? I have an oversized orange heavy canvas jumpsuit that I used while RV traveling, but it is too hot to wear here in Las Vegas.
Hi Bruce. Great questions - no, I don't have to sync them because they do not overlap each other physically. I have only ever worn Carhardtt bibs - they have at least one light fabric option which might help. Mine are the standard R1 model and definitely get pretty hot in our summers here. Good luck and thanks for tuning in!
Hey Gordon. I have the same deck just slightly larger (model number 1672). One of us is wrong. Not sure which! But I was under the impression that when measuring the fluid level in the gearbox, you were just supposed to drop it in the hole and NOT screw in. I thought I read that in the manual but I'm sure I'm the one who is wrong here. Its a moot point really because if you top off your gear box, you do it like you said and fill to the overflow hole on the side (assuming its removed).
Great video GP. I like the tip of grinding the back of blade if it needs balancing. Did you need to check the PTO shaft length since it’s a repurposed attachment on a new tractor or did you use it on this tractor already? Jim

1/2" bolts have 3/4" bolt heads or nuts. 19mm is the metric equivalent of 3/4". Bolt size is the major diameter of the threads, not the head size.
A half inch bolt has a 3/4" / 19mm head. Like your videos!
