@@chandrakas Yeah, I know. I meant specifically BotC, not the other social deduction games. Because BotC isn't just social deduction, it's also mechanical deduction. My only wish, if and when they do this again, is that they let everybody go off to different rooms or areas in the office to talk, just like in the Minecraft version of the game. Might have been too hard to set up, but it would have been cool.
There is actually a traveler that forces people to stay in the same room, but they also allow whispering to your neighbor, and can swap position of 2 players thrice per day. The whispers could be done using the Clocktower app, so that the viewers could see whispers live.
that very final round was not good for Ose. kill Briony -> she's the saint, townies lose kill Briony -> she's the minion, townies lose kill Briony -> she's the vortox, townies win kill Duncan -> he's the mayor, townies lose kill Duncan -> he's the minion, townies lose kill Duncan -> he's the vortox, townies win no execution -> Duncan's the mayor, townies win no execution -> Duncan's the vortox, townies lose no execution -> Duncan's actually neither, townies lose the odds were always against her
The odds are very often against good in the final three. But the odds in general even out when you consider that they had a bunch of executions before final three which are all chances to execute the demon. Sometimes the information can give a 50/50 in final three, but generally the odds are worse than that from a purely numbers approach. There is of course social reads as well.
@@lordnacl5277 Nah, when you're sitting BETWEEN the people, then it should have been pretty obvious if Tom was pointing to one side of Lewis or the other. I have no idea how he got that wrong.
just some storytelling advice, a lot of STs ask the slayer for a weapon of choice as a stall for time to check for every reason why a slayer shot might or might not kill. additionally, saying you didn’t get the demon after an execution especially on this script is probably not the best idea because there’s a scarlet woman and legion, meaning that there are plenty of reasons a demon would be executed but the game would still continue.
I'm watching their first day in clocktower and wanting to shout to Tom "shoot into the 4 between the chef and empath!" You'd prove immediately it's legion or the chef number is wrong. Fingers crossed he fires that crossbow soon.

I've not watched this vod through yet, and people might not see this comment anyway in a vod that may be privated. But legion may register as minions, so Sulli's snith bluff fully works in a legion game and could still have given legion bluffs
legion may also register as minions, but they’re also just demons meaning they get bluffs anyway. they’re also allowed to get bluffs separate from each other since they’re each individual demons. Sully’s argument was the snitch giving evil players bluffs when they all already get bluffs is not really helping evil which is what outsiders are supposed to do.
@@blunderstruck1 But the snitch can mean each Legion gets 6 different bluffs. This game had 5 legion, so 6 bluffs would mean enough for all. In larger games, having only three bluffs for all legion (especially if the same) can be hard. Therefore Snitch very much still helps evil. if anything, the thing making Snitch redundant in the Legion game was that there were no private whispers. Therefore, players just had to claim out loud in order, so Legion had ample opportunity to not double claim - the only risk being with Tom's Slayer as both the Empath and Chef claimed very early.

Might be wrong, but didn't the town have no chance to win on the final day of the last game? Because Duncan was a Vortox, meaning that if there were no votes then he'd win, and Briony was the Scarlet Woman, meaning that if Duncan got voted out, then she'd just become the Demon and kill Osie. Logically speaking the game should've ended when they woke up because there was no world where the town could win, right?
I had that question myself but upon looking into the Scarlet Woman, apparently she only works when there are 5+ townsfolk remaining. So at that stage, killing Duncan would have ended the game in a win for the good team. Once the townsfolk hit 4 left, the Scarlet Woman pretty much loses her abilities and is just there to spread chaos and misinformation.
Whats with the new girl and the sunglasses? She was hiding when Lewis took them, and she had the same ones on in the poker stream. I think the entire outfit is the same as poker. So I thought maybe she doesn't show her face which would be very rude of Lewis to do. But then I found her IG and Twitter with plenty of pictures of her whole face.
When a Lord of Typhon is the demon type, technically the minions are not picked until after the roles are given out, since they are required to neighbor the demon. This means the minions in Typhon games have a built in bluff, and that's what happened here just in reversed order since roles where decided in advance it seems
@@ztatum611 Yeah, normally in a real-life game, the roles are assigned via picking tokens out of a bag which is passed around the circle (the player looks at their token, then hands it to the Storyteller who places it in their Grimoire for their own reference). If a Lord of Typhon game, no Minion tokens are passed out at first, since you don't know who the Minions will be until you know the Demon (because with the big moo-moo cow the Minions must neighbour said cow with the cow in the middle, or as near as possible if they have three Minions - cow adds an extra Minion to the base count as well so there could be as many as four in a large enough game). So everyone takes a token and thinks they are good, then the players neighbouring the Demon are woken and shown the Minion tokens that they now are. Which means their original roles now serve as a built-in bluff because those are no longer in play.
It doesn't wreck it so much as change how you play. There's a traveller called the matron which prevents people leaving the town square like this (only part of their ability). I think for the format it makes sense.
yeah I really like the matron but even that facilitates private chats to an extent, not being able to share bluffs and strategies between the evil team really under powers them especially with these numbers
SPOILERS Even though he made a mistake, Lewis should have just killed Ravs instead of switching to Laurie. Switching the kill almost makes it so slayer activated twice.
I thought he'd just say that Laurie doesn't die, which still makes it look like he screwed up and that Ravs is the Demon, but doesn't implicate Laurie - since Legion can register as Minions, just have Laurie register as a Minion for the purpose of the Slayer. So the shot isn't wasted, because Ravs was indeed a Demon, but also it doesn't screw things up and confirm a Legion (because yes, the game didn't end, but Ravs might've been a different Demon with a Scarlet Woman - I think there were enough players remaining for that to have triggered if available).
Yea, in the minecraft videos where he makes mistakes often as well, and in this instance, it really doesn't feel like lewis has the experience as a storyteller to be running these more complex scripts. He kinda screws up too often to be enjoyable to watch sometimes. Even when hes not making mistakes, he often says things that feel like he shouldn't be, that kind of ruin things. In one minecraft episode he gave someone their information and then said "thats game-winning information right there". Like even if that information is false, the storyteller really shpuldnt be saying stuff like that. @AmeenaWordweaver
@@jackgeneser5285 Yeah, I get what you mean. But on the other hand, the only way to get better at it is to keep doing it. They commented on the Slayer mistake in the following stream with Ben Burns, and he and Zylus were saying it's okay to make mistakes sometimes - Ben added that "the Matt Mercer effect is real", ie people see someone doing something professionally online and think it's really easy and that if they do the same thing (play the asame game, in this case), it'll be just like that. But it isn't, because those people aren't Matt Mercer. Lewis screwing up occasionally in Clocktower shows that yeah, you can make mistakes sometimes, but the game carries on and everyone ultimately has fun, and they know what not to do next time.
@@AmeenaWordweaver I don't think Legion can register as Minion at the expense of registering as Demon. I think Legion ALWAYS registers as Demon, so dies to a Slayer shot, and ALSO register as Minion, and so receive Snitch info, or are seen by an Investigator, for example. The ability specifically says "You register as a Minion too"
So, I’m pretty unfamiliar with BotC in general, but shouldn't the Legion Demon break the game? The knowledge that the majority of players are evil means they can just come out with their roles; there’s nothing the good team can do to stop them. They basically hold the game hostage; either the good guys vote themselves out, or it's a stalemate. Why does this not work?
The legion can only execute someone if they convince a town player to vote as well, if only legion vote then it fails and thus all the town know that the people who voted are all legion - thus they have to be careful not to be too obviously a hive mind and rely on townsfolk being tricked - also one of them dies every night instead of a good player unless they are have lost loads of legion so they don’t outnumber town too much by the end of the game
In a legion game the story teller chooses who dies at night, and should usually be picking a legion player. If the evil team immediately outs that its a legion game then the good side will eventually hit a point where they have enough votes to make a majority call to execute a legion player each day. Since legion requires at least one good vote for an execution to occur, they will never be able to execute a good player, or stop an execution on a legion player
RT always throws by making bold claims, if he just let tom slide tom wouldn't have been pushed to use his ability and they wouldn't have figured it out
that’s how it is in the official icon as well, I think it’s part of legion’s whole shtick of the evil/abnormal trying to convince everyone it’s a non-legion game by appearing normal. could also be a reference to more evils than expected compared to a standard game with more fingers than expected lol
I wish the recluse was more like the ttt glitch, causing the evil minion to not know their master, and the demon to know their minion is 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 people
@@squegeemcgee2403 Probably means a version where the audience doesn't know the roles, so they have to figure it out alongside the players. That's sometimes done with these types of things, but hard to do well in stream format.
@@slyceth Yeah but that's not ideal for most viewers. It's hard to do both at the same time. Most people probably want to see the role as it's a complicated game many don't know well. In theory they could have a moment of 'close your eyes if you don't want to know the roles', but unless you know the game well, you kind of need that constant reminder about each person's role and its ability.
-The goblin game shouldn't have ended, he declared that he was the goblin BEFORE he got nominated, meaning that the goblin win should have been invalidated.- I misunderstood how it worked.
He did continue to declare he was a goblin while being nominated, there's nothing that says the goblin is ONLY allowed to declare during nomination and at no other time
I was really looking forward to this, expecially knowing the NRB boys were in it. But this was a mess in such a small place, it would have been better in minecraft or the way NRB have played it in the past. Hope you do this again but either online or with multiple rooms for players to group off into in.
They're doing a stream right now (it's probably just finishing?) on twitch where it is done in minecraft. They did one stream in person, one in micecraft.
Streaming it live like this brought some compromises. NRB's in person is a high quality edited affair, and the Minecraft series is also multiple simultaneous perspectives. Keeping everyone in one room is much less of a headache to capture live without viewers missing too much
simon was in the first day for jingle cats and also he did his important videos stream. he joins in when he wants to - he has done content for a long time so let him take it easy. :)
Lewis screwed the Legion over twice. The first was killing the girl in the night. The second one was not letting Breeh die when he was VOTED FOR! Game 2 they are not letting people choose who to look at and assigning them answers. That is not how the game works. If you are going to play this game, play it correctly ffs.
Breeh was voted for, but only be Legion and so the execution HAD to fail. Lewis had no choice. Sophie? the girl really was the only sensible person to die first. A Demon was unlikely to pick most of the other Legion players due to what they were claiming, and in Legion games it isn't recommended to kill good players at night much as at a disadvantage in numbers. In the second game, there was the fortune teller who did choose players, but the Empath, Chef, Librarian, Investigator, all DO NOT get to choose anything, they just get shown things. Lewis did a lot wrong, but you are the one who doesn't seem to know the rules.

The ability specifically says "You register as a Minion too"
@@OnlyNobodyAtHome Ohh okay, fair. I thought they could entirely misregister and count as a Minion like the Recluse does or whatever.
was pyrion a bit pissed off at lewis by the end?
sounds like a record you play backwards
Who let the Lebanese boy back in?
RT always throws by making bold claims, if he just let tom slide tom wouldn't have been pushed to use his ability and they wouldn't have figured it out
why does the legion hand have six fingers?
that’s how it is in the official icon as well, I think it’s part of legion’s whole shtick of the evil/abnormal trying to convince everyone it’s a non-legion game by appearing normal. could also be a reference to more evils than expected compared to a standard game with more fingers than expected lol
Because they are Legion.
It's kinda like how ai art can't always get things perfect, legion are demons that try to fit in but there's something not quite right about them
I wish the recluse was more like the ttt glitch, causing the evil minion to not know their master, and the demon to know their minion is 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 people
Is there a spoiler free version?
Wdym? When does it spoil who wins
@@squegeemcgee2403 Probably means a version where the audience doesn't know the roles, so they have to figure it out alongside the players. That's sometimes done with these types of things, but hard to do well in stream format.
@squegeemcgee2403 i don't want to know the roles
@@gd1247 it's easy, just don't show the roles on screen
@@slyceth Yeah but that's not ideal for most viewers. It's hard to do both at the same time. Most people probably want to see the role as it's a complicated game many don't know well.
In theory they could have a moment of 'close your eyes if you don't want to know the roles', but unless you know the game well, you kind of need that constant reminder about each person's role and its ability.
But sadge theres no rust stream this year and reckon thats why pyrion looks sick of his life toward the end of this 😅
Of because Lewis was telling him off like a 10yr old 😂
This is my first time seeing almost all of the botc players irl and Osie looks like a really cool Baldur’s Gate 3 npc that I’d dreamily stare at

-The goblin game shouldn't have ended, he declared that he was the goblin BEFORE he got nominated, meaning that the goblin win should have been invalidated.- I misunderstood how it worked.
He did continue to declare he was a goblin while being nominated, there's nothing that says the goblin is ONLY allowed to declare during nomination and at no other time
@@fugyfruit My bad, I misunderstood how it worked.
@TMunro1996 Great, thanks for the heads up. Please tell me Sullivan, Laurie and Tom are in it :)
Streaming it live like this brought some compromises. NRB's in person is a high quality edited affair, and the Minecraft series is also multiple simultaneous perspectives.
Keeping everyone in one room is much less of a headache to capture live without viewers missing too much
@Dr.Death8520 I didn't mean how nrb do it in person but how they do it online.
Note for editor, in the second game you gave the washerwoman description for the chef, checking the asset you used is a good idea.
There was no editor, it was a live stream.
Showing the investigator the scarlet woman and the demon is just bad storytelling imo.
Feels like im the only person who doesnt like crossovers
Is Simon even part of this anymore?
simon was in the first day for jingle cats and also he did his important videos stream. he joins in when he wants to - he has done content for a long time so let him take it easy. :)
He was also in the Jaffa Factory stream. But I think he's more or less retired at this point which is fair enough!
@@boba69 and he's in another stream today!
(immediately before the greatest coffee show on youtube)
