    Great lesson, Carl.
I've just re-taken up the mandolin after a hiatus of 50 years. I've amazed myself that I can still remember lots of jigs and reels, but thought I'd add a bit of surprise REM to my repertoire. Now sounding pretty good, thanks to you.

Always get chills from watching the intro to this. Extremely helpful, and got me well on my way to use all of that violin knowledge on a mandolin song I love!

Thanks for this lesson man! Awesome. I received my F-mandolin yesterday (Richwood RMF-220-WN. I am learning some chords now. The distance is small to put your fingers in a proper way. Is it me or is the first fret very hard to play? After fret 1 it is going OK. Thanks.

@@carlmatthewsmusic8324 Mine is an Ibanez but it looks like it may have come from the same factory as it looks the same. Mine too had an abysmal setup, the strings were a mile above the fingerboard. Luckily I too have a bit of a knack for string things instrumental and was able to machine down the bridge to get it easy to play without buzzing. Luckily the neck already had just a wee bit of up curve so string height correction was all that was needed.
