Kian, I am in final year of medicine in Ireland and about to start working as a doctor in a few weeks. My partner died of cancer very quickly at the age of 21 a few years ago. No one ever told her ‘you are dying’, no one said those words. And we of course couldn’t think that. It was such a disservice to all of us, we didn’t know how little time she had left. And I can absolutely confirm that as the partner of someone dying of cancer it is the most painful thing I’ve ever been through. I still find being around cancer patients tough - especially their partners. I have cried many times about these kinds of situations. A great vlog as always. Also my favourite organ is the kidney. 💕
As a middle schoolgirl, I gotta thank you for motivating me. I want to be a general surgeon only bc I saw such an interesting vlog on ur channel about general surgery, then I got obsessed. Thank u for being such an inspiration for me :)
I would love if you could explain what a med student’s role is in clinical rotations! Like what responsibilities do you have, do you do anything independently, do you tell another doctor the orders and diagnosis you think is correct before you tell the patient, etc?
I appreciate the sincerity and enthusiasm that you have towards your profession. Your undeterred hard work inspires me. You are really fortunate to be a doctor.
I am about to have my second year exams and I just realized how most of my year has been behind a desk studying 😂🥲I could so relate to the part she said “I am living the dream “ cause it’s H for hectic out here 🥲🫠
Thank you for being so real and showing the rollercoaster ride that is the medical profession. It is really inspiring to see you learn and also show the hard times that you encounter with patient care. I also like that you show your productive study days and the days where you choose self care because it is so important! Many youtubers will make it seem like they are productive machines that never take time for themselves and it's a bit disheartening because I cannot focus for long periods of time and sometimes it makes others feel that if they aren't THAT productive then they aren't productive at all, which isn't true. I appreciate your videos so much and can't wait to be a med student one day (currently in last semester of undergrad)! Sending you lots of hugs 💕
Ahh, that story breaks my heart and something that I'm trying my best to prep for when the time comes. You got this Kian! Almost done year 3! WOOOO!!!!
It’s called internal medicine cuz it pertains to the internal organs (& specifically internal disease). Name originally served the purpose of differentiating specialist physicians from old timey GP’s in the late 1800’s, since a lot of general docs back then weren’t very scientific or evidence based in their practice.
@@Haider-lt3vf Yes I agree with you, all organs are interconnected and not one particularly is more important than the other. But what is the reason behind the continuation of our whole species? I don't think fetuses are held in the heart...although I understand your point that with no heart, life would be impossible. But I guess that's why a "favorite" organ is like a favorite food; everyone has a different opinion and preference but in the end of the day we need all macronutrients (proteins, grains, carbs, etc) just like we absolutely need all our organs except for like the spleen, the gallbladder, or one kidney which are not complete essentials.
From an evolutionary perspective and looking at the bigger picture, there is a very particular reason humans continue to exist. Heart, lungs, intestines, bladder etc. are the reason one individual exists. Reproductive organs are the reason the whole species continues to exist.
Your sadness shows compassion and I hope you remember how much of a good quality that is to have and never lose it throughout your career ❤️ My favorite organ is the kidney - such a little multitasker and if treated right is a resilient pair 😌
Incoming MSI! I’m so excited for my IM rotation but also so nervous 😅 It was so helpful to know that not everyone is perfect and you can mess up a little bit just to comeback the next day! My favorite organ is the stomach! 🍕🌮🌭
Kian!! I first want to say that it has been a joy watching you blossom in your vlogs over the years!! Your confidence in your vlogging shines through. Second, from what I can see, you’re doing great 😊 I love how you admit to great days and rough days - sometimes we need those naps and unproductive days. You keep an amazing balance! And third, which vaccine did you get? You mentioned the next one in July...?? Please continue to vlog!! As an ER nurse, it’s nice to relate to other healthcare personnel 🤗 and if you can, would you be willing to share any acid-base notes? That’s still one of my weaknesses 😅
I love IM and want to do a fellowship in Infectious Diseases or Immunology one day so thank you for this vlog! My favorite organ is probably the heart...it's so interesting.
Greetings Kian !!! Seriously, another amazing video once again....pls do some more study with me videos which are so motivating !!!! Btw, my favorite organ is the brain !!!!
as per google "The term internal medicine comes from the German term innere medizin, popularized in Germany in the late 19th century to describe physicians who combined the science of the laboratory with the care of patients"
i want to be a doc, i'm actually hopefully if i'm accepted going to med school in my country ( france) , but i skipped the cancer and death part. i really cannot with this subject. one of my fear, is to not be able to save everyone. and i really couldn't watch that part ! NB: med school in France is so different than med school in Canada, you have a little theorical part. us HAVE 6 years, of general knowledge ( we are encyclopedies) , then we choose our "speciality" and thus become a resident for three to 5-6 years. bt during the first 6 years we have "rotations" as well. i think the canadian med school system is clever... much love Kian ! i hope you'll succeed ! let us know which "speciality" you chose. XX
Hey Kian, I'm new to your channel Ur videos r really informative and my fav organ is HEART...❤💜 P.S - "Sometimes the heart is a wild creature..that's y our ribs r cage"
I know that with medicine we really pride ourselves in feeling like we are over achievers but why does nobody talk about the aimless hours of isolation and always feeling inadequate and that you can’t continue with your life
Why do you love kidney so much? Is it because of any event you have experienced? And I am new hereee😄 which country do you live in? US or UK? I love kidney . Favorite organ is the uterus cause without it, no other organ would exist!💓💓
one question which came first: the chicken or the egg? Or the uterus came first or the heart that pump blood to the uterus XD
