Hey! It's a good idea using roti press with butter paper for making jawar masala roti. I will definitely use it to make makki di roti😀 as my family is an ardent fan of makki masala roti and this is our regular breakfast option for winters. Earlier I used it for poori making only. Though you are a Bengali ,you making a jowar (sorghum) masala roti is a super feat ,we gujjus consume jowar bajra and many other millet flours in our regular diet plan ,I do have a suggestion since millet flours have a huge fiber content ,hing (asafoetida) haldi,(turmeric) powders , carrom seeds (ajwain) , and some green leaves finely chopped would add a zing to the roti , one can think of coriander parsley, curry patta (limda)onion greens ,coriander stalks muli bhaji (radish leaves etc are some mineral rich add ons to the flour when you are mixing, grated onion carrots beet lauki or gourd and such veggies make a one plate full meal , using yoghurt water or paneer water (whey) ok r veggie stock or dahi as the fluid medium to knead your flour mix would add a tangy sour taste besides the protein content , sharing these tips as I regularly made various combinations as above for school tiffin boxes for my kids for years

We call this veggie packed jowar roti, thalipeeth in Maharashtra….we add jowar bajra besan rice mixed flour as well…if the grains are roasted n made flour out of it then it becomes easier to digest…we not fresh veggies then we even make it leftover veggies…if u dont have roasted garain atta then you can use any possible millet flour+ onion veggies ginger garlic paste lot of coriander/methi/palak and your gluten free thalipeeth is ready. I hope you will like it
Same roti you can make with rice and ragi flour, grate cucumber and also coconut makes it much softer as they relase water

We make madua roti but mix with wheat flour .

Also ...we make. madua halwa...ragi halwa with jagerry..somehow it tastes pretty bad with sugar..I guess our ancestors knew the correct combination

Cheryl thanks for the compliment but I think it's just the dress that makes you feel so !! As for portion control what I try to do is take a smaller portion on the plate than usual. Finish that first and only if I want more I take more. Slowly you won't even feel the need for a second helping !!
One suggestion Don't use Haltbar Milch they aren't healthy...
