In this video, you will learn how to create a 3d scanned model, by only using your Smartphone, and you can use this 3d model in any renderer, be it Lumion, D5 Render, Unreal Engine, or Corona Render.
And no, you don’t have to use an iPhone for this! It works both on Android and iOS.
We are going to use a technique called Photogrammetry. To put it simple, it is a photography mapping technique for objects, and in our case, it allows us to take several photos of an object and translate that into a 3d model.
The most popular company doing this is Quixel, with their Megascans. From small plants to massive cliffs, since it’s a photograph from the real world, the results are super detailed realistic 3d models and textures.
We are going to use an app called PolyCam, which you can download from the AppStore on iOS or the PlayStore on Android.

Are you ready to start making your own 3d scanned models in couple of minutes? 😀
Thanks Nuno for explaining both Lumion and d5 render!

Great Content. Thank you for sharing. have a nice day!💗👍
Wow perfect. Thank you🎉
I did this and created a fairly detailed image from 67 images of my Canon camera using my phone to take the pictures. But when I bring it in it's showing a strange top and bottom like a floor and ceiling that I don't want! How do I clean up the image so that it's just a rotating 3D model of my Canon camera?
Gracias Nuno!!! saludos
You're welcome!
Nuno sos el numero 1 👏 👏
Glad you liked the video! :)
Hi, what can you say about the precision of the measures? Is the scanned model quite similar to the real model? I required a precision of a least 1mm and the objects that I'm thinking to scanned have length from 10mm to 450mm
Wooow, That's Amazing 👏.
Thanks! 😃
Helpful review. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! 👍
Wow, thank you so much! I need to 3d scan myself to recreate a Terminator VFX effect going through the jail bars! It was the missing piece for me :)

Question: If I choose to create a 3D model with the premium version and want to host the model on my website. Must I stay subscribed to the service or can I cancel at a later time and retain my models online?
Could use some help i am,stuck, never used poly yet it for a model engine part. So i can cnc it in half and then, make the back half. Thanks.
Thank you! In which 3D softwear did you clean the scaning? Can the cleaning be done in UE?
No. Blender
Does it work for any kind of printer? I mean with FDM is it advisable!
Can you print the image on a 3d printer?
Can I do that to make a Car texture for a car game??
Thank you very much for this tutorial video. It was very nice. Can we use this program in big objects? For example, can we get modeling for a seat? I can create a studio environment for this program
Read this quote I found online: "This guide uses the photogrammetry mode of Polycam, as opposed to LiDAR. Apple originally included a LiDAR sensor on the iPad Pro in 2020, and has since included the sensor on their iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max phones, as well as the upcoming iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. LiDAR works by quickly creating a 3D model using pulsed light to measure distances and capture geometry. LiDAR technology can quickly capture room-sized areas and other large objects, but photogrammetry is ideal for capturing small objects with lots of color and texture detail." You need LiDAR, they make LiDAR attachments for Android.
Can it be used on buildings?
I wonder if it's possible in human and animals, it is very useful and time saving..thank you for this tuts.maestro.
Yes, you can see the library on PolyCam site from other users, and there's some scans of people too.
What if I want to design a part that fits in to an empty space of an object. How can that be done. Please explain.
Hi Nuno - what app do you use to clean up the scanned image before sending it to 3D print?
It resembles blender
I don't have the pro version of how I expected in obj ...
Please help me..
Nice i try but export not free now :(
hi, thank you for the useful video :) as im really new to 3D scanning, i want to know whether it is possible to change the scale after scanning the object !
Glad it was helpful! You mean inside Lumion or D5 Render? Yes, it is possible.
@@NunoSilva3d Thanks for the quick response =) let me learn more from your videos ! Have great day
Tried to make a 3D on my product but its not perfect, do i need a good lighting?
wow
Thank you! :)
I tried using the app several times and unfortunately, every one of my renderings looks like the item is melted. The pictures looks good, but the 3d rendering does not. I've tried it in auto and in manual, using 80-120 pictures. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi..I'm new to polycam. Your tutorial really helped me a lot to understand what is what. If want to make a building will polycam help?
Glad my video helped! Well, a whole building is quite complicated, since you have go to around the building with your phone, and you couldn't possibly cover all the floors, I guess.
2:00 this rotating tabletop doesn't work with mine at all. It just keeps showing the result as a flat object, so I have to manually rotate my camera around the object.
Can this app map an interior of a house?
whenever i try to 3d scan something it just comes up with an error and eats up one of my scans..
the music is super nostalgic though..
help me pls I'm on android and I cant find the app on the app store😭
Can someone please help me? When I press the photo button, the photos won‘t Register. I tried everything but it just doesn‘t work😅please help me.
You need a Subscription for you to use it fully function.
Thanks, is this app free ?
It’s written uploading failed, I tried already 3 times
Te amo 🫶🏻🥺
Thank you for watching! :)
If i was to do this for food places, 3D scan all items on menu, how much do you think I could charge for this? Along with a QR code for customers to scan. Lets say 10/20 items? Let me know could potentially have a new side hustle!
Aaaand you just gave your idea away
hello buddy ! what 3d model app you use ?
isn't working for me Nuno..
What is not working?
Ive tried like 3 times on my huawei y9s 6gb ram.. The model is all distorted and looks like a piece of dough twisted and mashed up the wall that you wouldn't know what the hell it is... Tried the same with a Samsung galaxy a21, same thing happened, changed also all the settings and it's not working at all. Please help.

Don't invest in anytNice tutorialng until you know what you're doing. Just your PC is fine for now.
Not that much satisfied, the results is like the product is burned 😢
This app doesn't know how to focus.
Its really sad to see the app is paid!
@@ThisIsLiamyes

Yeah, I can’t believe the creator took time to make it and now wants to be paid for us to use it. 😡
is there a free alternative for the 3rd world people like myself? or maybe pc software that does photogrammetry and we could pirate the software? ty nuno. love yr channel.
