Karan, I appreciate your multi-faceted personality. You clearly are a very accomplished professional....but you also talk about being a good person (the advice about calming your mind) and show how one has to be curious about the outside world too! This was super-enteraining!
This video shows the magnificence of the African wildlife. Sooo beautiful. Watching all of you share your adventure reminded me of the humanity we all share regardless of what country we are from, what language we speak, or what color our skin is. We are all part of the human family!
12:14 its called Thatch in English. Made up from layers of straw bundles. Held down with the mesh. Alot of old houses in the UK have this for the roof. Really natural material for making a roof.
I know there are downsides to your chosen profession- hard work, boredom, stress, risks, etc. But gosh, you also sure make it look fun and interesting at times too! Well done, enjoy every minute!
I can relate to that when you said keep your mind occupied and do something constructive on the ship. Some get up early for duty after sleeping early after duty and do some meditation and yoga and have a warm shower and coffee before duty. For an outsider the room would look great on the video which it is for sure but while on duty for months together everything gets so monotonous with some crew would be ready to sign off after months and would be ticking off days on the calender waiting to get down while some crew would have just started their sign on duty. Actually when crew sign on it takes a few weeks to get totally adjusted after holidays at home but after about three weeks roughly the days begin to go faster. Just my opinion.
Your content, editing, and presentation are incredible ~ very much appreciated! I really resonate with feeling you're escaping the ship; even work you love can overtake your life if you can't escape for some fun occasionally ~ feel like I'm an escapee now as finally retired. Sharing your knowledge and getting to learn a whole different way of life while educating us is a lot of fun for this landlocked guy. Being a computer geek, I'd be very interested in you explaining more deeply the functions, displays, and use of ecdis and other electronics and perhaps an in-depth review how you plot course and make decisions. Thanks for all your great work!
I remember tying up at that berth when it was being built back in the 1980,s we were on a reffer ship laid up was in Durban for around 3 weeks before sailing all the way to Seattle to load.good to watch thank you
Came back home completely stressed and found this! It's just like a stress buster for me. Thankyou so much for your vlogs ❤️ Your passion for your profession inspires me a lot. It acts as a driving force for me to work even harder for my goal.
One of those rare shore leave days indeed. Rare because a visit to a game reserve is unthinkable in these days of short port stays. You can treasure this 'boys day out' as possibly one the best in your career at sea. You may never get an opportunity as such again. Getting to see wildlife up close like this is a lifetime experience. Use your rank to your advantage, sacrifice sleep and hop off the ship for a few hours in any port where the possibility exists. Once you become a Chief Mate, shore leave will almost be impossible. (At least, that's the way it is on tankers of any type). All in all, a good quick spread of Durban and its suburbs.
Hi Karan , My son and I love your videos and he was so excited that you visited our town, we live 10mins from the Zoo , we are so glad you enjoyed the African experience
You have captured Nature at its best ...the sunset shot was very beautiful, A drone shot would have added more ...The Majestic Lion with its mane looked awesome The animal world itself was so beautiful, the Zebra, the Giraffe, the Antelope, the Ostrich and even the Cactus looked healthy and awesome ."God's Creation even in the tiniest form is something that shows his Power .!! Karanvir, You are heading to be another Good Film maker...Loved it 👌👌👍
WOW!! How exciting! Looks like a great shore leave. All of you guys looked like you were having a fun time. How awesome. Love your VLOGs. Keep up the great work. All the best to you from San Diego, California.
Thanks again for the fond memories !! Loads of friends and relatives in Maritzburg and always did shopping at Pavilion too !! ..esp Mug and Bean ! Much appreciated .
Yet another really well put together of your life at sea. The music tracks also add fantastically for our viewing. Keep it up,love your work, cheers. Keith in Oz.
Absolutely amazing job putting this one together! The footage you captured of the animals was top notch in my opinion. You are getting really good at the editing thing too. As always thanks for bringing us along with you brother.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your time in my home town, would have loved to meet you at the mall if I knew you would be there. Keep up the great work on the videos
That was a fantastic. In Africa game drives best time to reach the game park is 6:00Am so by 6:30 am your inside the park. I leave in Africa in a country called Kenya.
I certainly remember short shore leave "emotions" they certainly let you return really refreshed and ready to get on with the job. Things have certainly changed, we had two bars on my ships, one for the officers and one for the crew, we used to have up to twelve passengers and on board Doctor (generally retired, who was payed with free passage) Good luck.
thank you for another interesting movie ... I have never been to Durban but now I know what a car safari is - greetings from Poland ... see you next time...feet of water under the keel :)
heyi dear, happy to see u on shore leave.. Felt mesmerized to see new scenic views in your camera (Apart from cranes & ports) infact i m amazed to see the lions & other wild animals so close to you in the shots, i mean is it safe during the journey to see all these creatures from so close ? great music behind. God bless you dear
Great video. A wonderful wildlife and an incomparable nature. Thanks for sharing Karan. 👏Great video. A wonderful wildlife and an incomparable nature. 👏🙏😍
A beautiful day full of experiences, it's great that you were able to leave the ship for a while and enjoy some time off. Thank you Karan for allowing us to share your trip to see the animals with you. Great vlog.
That is the life ! Now that covid is fading into memory, there will be many more excellent shore leaves coming up. Although it will be hard to beat the tour of the African game reserve -- that must have been amazing.
I really enjoy your videos. Although I stay inland, I am very interested in ships. Keep up the good work. Glad you enjoyed your shore leave. Durban and the whole KZN province is a very popular holiday destination in South Africa.
i just watched your vlogs just you killed it and these are like stress busters to me i am feeling like fresh after seeing this vlog really appreciable such kind of bgm and cinematic shots finally that line freedom is like oxygen to soul ...
Must be good to get off. That first place you went to though those Lions looked bored and helpless. Trapped in a caged environment. The second place looked better at least. Not a fan of shopping malls or lots of people so would probably have skipped the last bit too. Should have done the sky dive when I was younger. The old bones may break now. Merchant Marine is a different way of life. I think I would have liked it apart from the sea sickness.
Karan, I appreciate your multi-faceted personality. You clearly are a very accomplished professional....but you also talk about being a good person (the advice about calming your mind) and show how one has to be curious about the outside world too! This was super-enteraining!
