OMG Tony, I can't believe this. I've been watching a ton of videos on the damage and cleanup of Helene. This video popped up in my stream. within 2 or 3 minutes I said, HEY, I remember Tony. Sure enough I was right. 10 years ago you did a video on an Oscar Schmidt OE 20 LP copy. I was so impressed with it I bought a gold top and a burst. Here you appear again showing this devastation. I'm happy to see you're still around and more importantly that Jeff and his family survived this horrific nightmare of a hurrican. T's&P's sent down your way from way west of Chicago. 🙏
I drove on Powerhouse RD out of Glen Alpine towards Lake James, the homes that were by the Catawba river are gone, leaving only the foundation. It broke heart to see it.
We've experienced this and as soon as you can manage to rip carpets out, wash out the mud and remove stuff you will have a chance to still have a home to live in, later you may also have to remove dry wall as mould will be your enemy, good luck and God Bless
This is just awful. I can't imagine what these people are going through. I remember when I was a child a tornado took the roof off our home and filled it with water. We lost everything, but being a child I really couldn't understand what my parents were going through. As an adult I can really feel the pain they must be feeling. My heart goes out to them and all I can do is wish them the best.
I hate this happened. Had a little flooding at my new place but none got inside and things are almost back to normal. I was worried because I am downhill off of 18. The wind was really bad. I hope and pray these people who lost everything get their insurance soon and the community comes together for them.
Praying for all of these families. My family and I were blessed here in Hickory but my son went with some of his school friends up to Boone to help with cleanup and he said there was no government help, it was Samaritan's purse and local churches helping out. This is beyond frustrating that our government is not doing anything to help these people. This is inexcusable that they can keep sending millions and billions to other countries but not help it's own citizens who pay taxes. I am praying for all of these people.
Do you know if Razors Ridge up above Morganton is ok? I’ve been checking online but haven’t seen anything other than the massive flooding in downtown Morganton (which is obviously pretty bad).
Who would have guessed it? Tony it did the same thing in 2004. They all should have known. And Burke County code enforcement and building inspectors need to be held accountable for not doing more to protect its people…..example “eagles landing”
One local official said about 1 out of 200 properties were covered by flood insurance. One half of one percent. I'm guessing videos of the other 199 owners would include this level if hope. Beyond heartbreaking 💔
There is a woman named Susan Swanson that does videos about cheap housing. She’s been posting rentals and videos about RV’s to try and help. This is so sad and unreal!😢
In assuming that house was worth at least 900k unless he paid cash for it I can't see how a bank would give a mortgage on a home that's not properly insurance for everything and anything
I know how had it was to find a rental in 2010. I couldn’t stay because the entire street is built over a sink hole. Morganton politics got in the way of suing the landlord. I’m glad to be out of Burke county despite it being settled by my ancestors way back. Check with the First Presbyterian Church to find Jane Tate. She’s involved with lots of community projects. I live in morganton and hildebran but the reason i live 2 cities because i'm 14 and my mom lives in morganton and my dad lives in hildebran so that meant last friday i saw the bridge on us-64/ us-18 i saw the bridge that's a minute southwest from hartland rd was high and i saw that parts of us-181 was closed and i saw the parking lot where town tavern is is all flooded and the parking lot of where mcdonalo KFC and dollar genra on us-70 was flooded and the of us-64 near where it's exit 103 was closed and we went to the denny's on e,it 103 to see if they had power because my mom is from fl and when she lived in fl during a hurricane denny's would always be open

I went through bad flood in houston tx area no insurance. Its hard. We had three small kids. Weve been praying everynight God send help!

That road is about a 30 second drive from my house 🏡 and from Hwy 126, it’s fine. I haven’t gone down that road.
