i see a lot of people in the comments talking about rude workers at sephora and I agree. Literally the first and only time I went into a sephora (i never wear makeup btw) I just went with my sister because she needed a purple shampoo. She wanted a specific shampoo and I asked an employee if they had the brand and I have really dirty blonde hair almost brunette, idk if that had anything to do with it but she looked at me like I was stupid for like 5 extremely uncomfortable seconds, she literally said nothing and then my sister walks up and asks about the shampoo and she helped her immediately. Idk maybe u gotta look a certain way to get respect at sephora or maybe sephora just happens to hire a lot of rude people😂🤷♀️

The excuse they gave me that led to me loosing 55$ was that I was accommoded before so now they aren't accommodating me anymore. I got irate so mad 😡 Sephora is bad business
@@emilya5587 it’s easier to blame others than yourself. Nobody forced those employees to act rude. Nobody forced those employees to work there. You made the choice, you will clean up the act. Bc there will be them ghetto mfers who ain’t afraid to slap you across that counter. Ian been to Sephora in a while, but I don’t tolerate disrespect. especially from no Minimum wage ass worker.
Sephora got too big for their customers. I was a member when it was 3 free samples in every bag, no questions asked. Want a new fragrance but are not 100%, they would bottle you a sample right there. No offense to the "makeup influencers" but they have made it worse. Nearly everyone looks like a clown and customizable palates are gone now and your options are single shades or the palates that are used at face painting parties.
OMG I remember the 3 free samples!! Haven't seen that in YEARS. They also don't do the fragrance samples either, and the last time I went for fragrance (over like 7 years ago) the employee stated outright I could only ask for 3 fragrance samples only. I only needed two, but there used to be no limit.
Or we ran out of samples we are allowed to give out at the counter lol. A lot of samples are kept with the product (in the drawers). HIGHLY recommend asking for a foundation sample before buying. We had SO MANY foundation samples collecting dust, since you can't really hand those out like moisturizer saples
We don’t have some samples that you may be asking for. If we run out than it’s gone until next shipment. In my area we can’t give tester samples only foundations that a pump too btw cuz of COVID. ( also you really don’t want the samples of testers we honestly don’t know how long they’ve been there. Especially brands that aren’t popular. And we can’t change them if there not empty cuz of the “policies”)
They do not always have them, some area are unlucky and get very little of them so they run out extremely fast. My friend works in one like this, they get at most 5 samples or each every couple months. And videos like this brings a lot of Karen to them screaming that they learned in a video store had big quantities of them.
It is true. We aren't supplied with pre-made samples anymore. The covid shutdown put a screeching halt to that. Almost 2 years later the world hasn't caught up with supply and demand. It's not like we aren't willing to give them out, it is the fact that we don't have any to give.
I work at Sephora in Kohls as we have not got any that I am aware of (yet anyways!) But I love making anyone samples if they want some! I do understand the pre-made is much more hygienic though . It would be so nice if they would give us some
As a girl that works at Sephora, can I ask why? I always get sad reading comments bc I genuinely try my best to be positive and helpful with clients. I try and keep in mind price, so I try to show cheaper alternatives too but I’ve had some instances where they seemed offended I wasn’t showing them the higher end…like no😅 I’m just not allowed to ask the budget and don’t wanna shove expensive products down everyone’s throat I’m literally sorry lol
The closest Sephora to me is actually amazing, I went there with my friend and they helped us the whole time and gave us a little tour, free food it was heaven there, they gave everyone free samples once they left if they did not buy anything which we got because we were looking around since we have never been there
I worked at Ulta. It's really sad how shady the beauty industry is. I was always super nice to everyone because that's who I am. I'm not a snobby girl like the other employees. I got bullied and harassed to the point where false information got relayed back to the store manager saying I didn't do my work, left early, treated customers bad and a bunch of other stuff. I had some employees that stuck up for me because none of that was true. I was good with the customers, I would foundation match perfect and customers would personally ask for me to help them but I decided to leave. It wasn't worth it. It was obvious the store manager loved the drama too. Its sad a 19 year old is more mature than these wanna be 25-30 year old influencers.
I don't have a sephora in my part of the uk but I always find beauty stores need to stop with thinking they own the samples it's ridiculous. Only time I've ever been offered samples is when I spent loads of money at a chanel or lancome counter and I'm talk one little perfume sample. Weirdly enough when my partner buys me stuff for Christmas from the same places he gets so much samples for me without asking 🤔🙄
Usually I hate shopping in stores like Sephora or Ulta because my anxiety spikes but last time I was in Sephora, I had such a pleasant time. I was dressed up and ready with makeup and hair done because it helps ease some anxiety when I know I “got ready for the day”. I went in with the intention of shopping for gifts for my cousin’s birthday and I had several workers ask if I needed help and they were all so kind to me. I left with a bunch of stuff in hand, no buyers remorse, no anxiety or secondhand embarrassment, and no tears 🥹 Usually I have an awful time by myself, but this was the exception! I will remember to ask for samples next time as well!!
Yeah funny enough I’ve been to two Sephoras near me and the employees I have met so far have been so nice and kind. One of the girls helped me use an eyebrow product! I think it really has to do with location and the management there 💀💀
I had 3 little samples of different creams that came in little envelopes packs (like ketchup) I walked with them in hand in front of an employee and she snatched them off my hand and said “ those aren’t for you!! “ she didn’t have to scream or snatch them like that. I said oh sorry they were labeled samples. She replied “ only if you spend $150 on the brand ! Like dayummmm the heck was I supposed to know
I've never been to Sephora and after reading all these comments I probably won't lol. I usually go to Ulta and everyone I've come across there has been very friendly and helpful. I've yet to feel judged my just walking in 😂
1 thing I will never do after leaving Sephora...is go back to Sephora. They killed any liking or passion I had for Makeup. I worked there for 3 years in Soho and Meatpacking.
I recently left, and I'm so disappointed it didn't work out. It was for the best, but I really wish management cared about the employees that put in the effort. I think about when people say all Sephora workers are rude. I swear, its cause the nice ones don't last very long. I think about the people that left during the period that I left, due to the same issues I was facing. They would've been the beauty advisor that I would want help from. All that being said, I learned the hard way to know your value with these corporations.
@@bugvision2312 yes Sephora became too big for their britches. Too corporate and therefore there is NO CARE for the customer. They don't care at least in my experience. I'm glad you left the hellfire
The experience I have at the sephora I go to in melbourne australia is lovely especially the last time I went. The individuals who work there are always so helpful and accommodating.
I think a lot of people forget Sephora is an LVMH company. Sephora collection by default ends up getting made a lot of the time in a lot of the same facilities that make things like Makeup Forever and Dior.
The employees at my local Sephora ( I live in Canada) are some of the nicest I've ever met. I even ended up having a 10 min conversation with one as she helped me find a foundation shade match.
A new Sephora opened up near me and I've been there a few times and the ladies there are really helpful. I don't know much about makeup/don't wear a whole lot so if I'm looking for a new product I'll ask for recommendations or help choosing which color suits me. Although I do feel intimidated everytime I go in.
I feel sorry for y’all. The Sephora I go to has the sweetest employees ever! They recognize every customer and are sooo excited when someone they have helped before walks through the door. My grandma has gone with me to that Sephora two times, and now whenever we go alone the employees always ask one about the other. The younger employees love my grandmother and are always looking to help her when she’s shopping. One employee calls me curly, because she LOVES my curly hair, and another hugs me whenever she sees me. I don’t know these people personally, and I only go in maybe once every couple of months to either look around or buy a very small amount of products, but they are still amazing!!!
I was an assistant store manager at a Sephora, and it breaks my heart to read these comments talking about “how rude all the associates are” or “I’ll just stick to ulta”. I guess our store was just built different. We really would pride ourselves on that great hospitality driven service. Going above and beyond, even if it was just for a demo and a sample and nothing else. After being in retail for as long as I have, you know it’s not always about making a sale…but rather planting that seed and investing in your community. In the long run, it will have much better results with a far better payoff because guests will come back to you, knowing they were treated well. It’s perfectly okay and should be encouraged to sample out products and give guests the chance to take and try before they buy. All of that to say, if you feel you are being treated poorly within a store then please reach out to a manager and ask for help. Let them know their employees couldn’t be found or wouldn’t make a sample etc. That goes a long way in training and developing associates that aren’t helping customers. If that issue still persists, contact corporate about your local location and let them know. That will definitely get the message across because that’s manager and assistant manager DOES NOT want that email to come across their computer!
Wow, I appreciate my Sephora ladies so much now. My ladies have always been SO nice and helpful! Didn't know so many people had issues with the Sephora reps

Otherwise I've noticed that I end up getting similar colors to the ones I'm wearing. They're very unhelpful to people who don't look like they spent an hour on their makeup before leaving the house

I had one nice employee experience out of all 14 years of shopping in Sephora. Lol she was a lovely teenager, who was stuck working with a bunch of mean girls, but she gave me a lovely experience and I know she’ll make it in life with that attitude unlike the snobs who will remain stuck in miserable retail for life, no surprise. I work in sephora expect mine is located inside a jcpenney (which is about to no longer be a thing due to khols) but would love to say this only happens If you are in a free standing sephora which means one that is by itself not located in another store. In my store we still don't do samples and we don't even apply the make up on the person anymore due to the pandemic.
i’ve always felt that the vibes were off at sephora, no matter which location i went to. that’s why i much prefer going to ulta. even if i got followed around once bc they thought i was gonna steal something. 💀 that’s just how much i don’t fuck with sephora and everyone else’s stories about how sephora employees were rude just confirms that the vibes ARE off.

There’s one Sephora near me that only hires people who hate customer service and makeup. I hate going there but they almost always have whatever I’m looking for in stock because I think most people are like me and drive across town (a whole 10 minutes) to shop at the Sephora with the nice, helpful staff. If I can, I order online or go to Ulta because they’re more friendly!
I have always done all of these because it’s so hard to find things that actually work for you, didn’t know about the pre done samples though Also I’ve dealt with rude people people at Sephora and últa because of the way I look I’m assuming, I’m brown and don’t wear makeup cause hard to find one for my skin type and I get allergies to some, and have lot of scarring and texture on my skin and skin conditions But last time I went to Sephora at JCPenney this lady was so nice and helpful and even complimented and we talked about a show as she helped me start out on my makeup journey
My Sephora used to have a lot of rude employees. I got matched for foundation many shades too dark. This past year or two though, they’ve been really helpful! A employee helped me get matched for foundation and was actually helpful and swatched a few different options. I might use some of these tips next time I go if it isn’t too busy
I currently work at a Sephora and it’s actually really hard to hear and read some of the things that people are saying while generalizing “Sephora employees” It’s pretty hurtful tbh I worked at Ulta before moving to Sephora so I’m aware of the differences between the two companies, on the note alone of which company cares more about their employees and genuinely values them, Sephora tops the list so far.
I think, with the ones behind the registers, yes. But ask for fountation, lip samples! We kept a lot of prepackaged samples in the drawers and they just collected dust. The samples that are kept behind the registers are typically moisturizers, face wash, mask, etc.
In my area we usually give them to beauty insiders and I give many to customers that are polite. If a customer is rude I’m less likely to give anything. But usually I always give some sort of sample
The sephora by my house is really nice and the staff are really helpful but they are usually really busy because it's located in the mall. I usually have to wait for someone to get matched for foundation but they use a phone with an attachment to do it now which is really good. I wished I had asked for general samples because I ordered online and never received the free samples because they ran out during the sale.
actually now that I think about it most sephoras had not nice workers. they weren't rude but my most recent trip, the lady asked if I had an account, I said no because I had forgotten, so she asked me to type in my phone number to sign up and apparently I did have an account. she was like "you do have an account" like laughing but in a snarky way💀

Sephora is bad business, buyer beware of their thieving
Ugh i used to work at sephora and they trained us so well in order to avoid making micro aggressive comments. I’m sorry that lady was rude. She could have worded it much better. Like “would you be interested in more than 3 products today?” Or just she could have simply kept making suggestions until you were finished shopping or no longer needed her help. I can’t stand unprofessional associates 🙄 i don’t claim them!! Lol
@@Reenah79 lol nobody forces people to buy the products! I personally shop at ulta because i don’t find that products need to cost an arm and a leg. Other people can make the same decision. Sephora has it’s own demographic.
i see a lot of people in the comments talking about rude workers at sephora and I agree. Idk maybe u gotta look a certain way to get respect at sephora or maybe sephora just happens to hire a lot of rude people😂🤷♀️
If you read their term and services it says they can change rules and not refund you if they feel like it. I learned the hard way unfortunately
They have the right to F you over. Buyer beware
They're so rude for no reason i'm from the uk so i've only ever been to a sephora once and the whole time i was there one of the staff members followed me around the whole shop
@@kiyarajoseph7417 oh my gosh i’m sorry that happened to you. Idk what their problem is but if I ever want to buy makeup I’m just gonna go to a cvs😂 It will save me money and an uncomfortable shopping experience😂

She probably had no idea what you were talking about and just made an expression to hide it 🙄
Sephora is different now. Haven't been a Rouge member for 2 years b/c they can be so rude in some stores... Employees are costing Sephora big time!
Sephora as a company is terrible to their employees tbh so I mean if the company isn’t doing anything for the employees why are the employees going to go out of their way for the company
@@emilya5587 I get it but it's their job and can quit, also why should we have to catch attitude? Because trust, if I do, I can actually make their day a lot worse
Buyer beware🚨🚨🚨
They lost me as a customer and I used to spend thousands on them. Once the F-ed me over I make a complaint to the BBB and it got nowhere
If you read Sephora's terms and services they'll say they can change their mind to refund or reshipping for any reason.
The excuse they gave me that led to me loosing 55$ was that I was accommoded before so now they aren't accommodating me anymore. I got irate so mad 😡
Sephora is bad business
@@emilya5587 it’s easier to blame others than yourself. Nobody forced those employees to act rude. Nobody forced those employees to work there. You made the choice, you will clean up the act. Bc there will be them ghetto mfers who ain’t afraid to slap you across that counter. Ian been to Sephora in a while, but I don’t tolerate disrespect. especially from no Minimum wage ass worker.
@@sbg1911 but then again if the service is bad, and you know the service is going to be bad because of the dynamic of the company, why keep going?
They just deny having samples. I guess I live near a rude one
Yup! Has happened to me so many times. So insulting
😂🤌
Not even exaggerating, every single time I've gone I ask for pre made samples and they say they don't have any.
It is true. We aren't supplied with pre-made samples anymore. The covid shutdown put a screeching halt to that. Almost 2 years later the world hasn't caught up with supply and demand. It's not like we aren't willing to give them out, it is the fact that we don't have any to give.
Sephora is bad business, buyer beware
@@lorifrederick2367 this was definitely before covid.
I noticed that too. I find the employees at my local MAC store to be super friendly though.
I work at Sephora in Kohls as we have not got any that I am aware of (yet anyways!) But I love making anyone samples if they want some! I do understand the pre-made is much more hygienic though . It would be so nice if they would give us some
Sephora workers treat you like you’re broke. Sephora is traumatic for me.
Ikr. The location closest to be is extremely pretentious and there’s so much arrogance there. It’s such an ugly attitude.
*me
It’s so ironic because they’re literally working retail…how can they even judge
Ouch
Like dayummmm the heck was I supposed to know
Lol no those are the free one and there’s no way you would have to spend that much to get them. Apparently you have a rude Sephora also 😏
she just wanted them for herself💀
In other word it's a scam
I love your makeup look. It's so natural and understated. Looks awesome.
So glad you are sharing, would never have thought to ask for premade demos. Wow! Wow for all the tips🥰
It’s an ad
The employees at my local Sephora ( I live in Canada) are some of the nicest I've ever met. I even ended up having a 10 min conversation with one as she helped me find a foundation shade match.
A new Sephora opened up near me and I've been there a few times and the ladies there are really helpful. I don't know much about makeup/don't wear a whole lot so if I'm looking for a new product I'll ask for recommendations or help choosing which color suits me. Although I do feel intimidated everytime I go in.
Omg I’m definitely gonna do this next time
My anxiety: “HAHAHAHAHAHAA”
FRR
sephoras makeup AND SKINCARE are soooooooooooooooo slept on. they're incredible
I like how this tips are for benefiting the costumers not the employees so thank u!
See how much you benefit from Sephora lmao 😅 dumb
Wow, I appreciate my Sephora ladies so much now. My ladies have always been SO nice and helpful! Didn't know so many people had issues with the Sephora reps
I asked for samples one time and the girl looked at me like I was crazy and told me they didn’t have any samples
That Sephora foundation sprayyyy girl is bomb!
the employees at the sephora in my area are sooo sweet, im so glad
i would always have people following me at sephora and they seemed so rude anytime i asked for help 😭 i just can’t deal with that anymore and go to ulta instead
I went to Sephora to find my wedding day foundation and the lady that helped me was SO NICE and even referred me to a different store with more options. I was surprised. 10/10
im so happy the sephora I went to, I was getting my first concealer and didnt know my shade match. The lady that helped me was so nice and helped me try on multiple shades to find my perfect match!
At my sephora they just dump the samples in your bag along with your purchase. It’s a nice surprise when you get home and go through it all.
Sephora collection eyeliners are AMAZING
12 year old me adored going to Sephora, everyone was so nice and easy to talk to- I’d have 3 people asking if I needed help in the span of 3 minutes (retail workers, always mention the name of who helped you at the register). But it baffles me to see all these people with bad experiences with People who’ve worked there.
some people are saying they’re rude but the store i go to is great. i went in with zero makeup, not having ever worn anything other than mascara (and stage makeup for ballet a few times a year) and they were all so friendly. they found stuff within my budget, the guy that helped me was so easy to relate to and we talked a lot. i guess it just depends on the people
I met a friendly Sephora employee yesterday! Yay!
Only one lmao 😅 they're all fakes and will scam you cause they have to listen to there boss who doesn't care. So you don't matter there
This is so refreshing. I was so ready for her to just rip them to shreds but, it was good, nice helpful advice and comments.
I’m so lucky to have good Sephoras because I’ve never had a bad experience. They’re always so nice to me and very helpful .
I would have loved to go to the Sephora this girl worked at! She seems like she would have been so nice and helpful 😊
She woulda f-ed you just like the others. They have no choice. As the employees say at Sephora, "Im just an employee so I can't do anything for you"

Dang these comments lol
Maybe cuz my Sephora is in Canada, they're all so sweet haha
I'm glad someone else had this experience besides me! I'm in the states and the only Sephora I've been to is one inside a JCPenney's but they've always been really pleasant. I've never had to ask for samples, they're practically shoving them at me at the register. I haven't been back since the start of the pandemic just because I feel conflicted about supporting a company that layed off all of it's part time employees on a group company call not because anyone was rude to me.
Same! I live in Canada and they’re so nice and helpful.
I'm in the US in Pennsylvania and the sephora I've visited is super friendly never had a bad experience 🤷♀️ and I agree with the other commenter that mine is basically throwing free samples at me they love giving free stuff whenever possible it seems
My Canadian Sephora location are rude and fake af 😭
Same.. worked at Sephora in Canada and it’s a whole other world here
Only very select locations demo the hair tools. People come into my store and ask all the time but we aren’t aloud to. We don’t get reimbursed for opening those $500+ products if we open the box and use the tool
Part 3??? Love this series
Wow! every time I’ve gone into Sephora they are always welcoming and sweet they always offer to give me samples when I don’t ask. I have not had a bad experience with them.
The Sephora at the mall near me is great, the employees are nice!! They have great products and it’s always nice coming in there because it’s so calm!! I have also never been at Ulta because there is none in my country
They’re stingy af with samples 🙄🙄🙄 They even got rid of all perfume samples
The Sephora matte liquid lipstick is freaking brilliant. I have a lip ring so it's hard to find lipstick that doesn't smudge with my ring in. It sits pretty nicely and they have green, I adore green.
If you’re in the uk, I think we only have the one Sephora?? And it’s probs in London ?? But places such as John Lewis, Space NK and H Beauty (Harrods) do many of the same brands and some regional specific too ! Every one I’ve been to everyone was always so lovely and happy to help with anything x

I don't get looked at if I'm not wearing makeup. I love doing fun and vibrant makeup but usually when I'm going to get makeup, I like to be bare faced so that I'm not thinking about the colors I'm wearing. Otherwise I've noticed that I end up getting similar colors to the ones I'm wearing. They're very unhelpful to people who don't look like they spent an hour on their makeup before leaving the house
The sephora brand is really nice. I've never been disappointed with anything from that area.
One of many sephoras I’ve been to had the sweetest employees. I’m glad it’s the one closest to my home 😂
everyone is saying that saying that the sephora employees are rude, but at my sephora in the mall near me, they are phenomenal and so kind, idk but they are AMAZING
When the employees are rude it’s bc they will never get out of there.
Now I wanna go to Sephora just to experience everything everyone is saying 💀
I work in sephora expect mine is located inside a jcpenney (which is about to no longer be a thing due to khols) but would love to say this only happens If you are in a free standing sephora which means one that is by itself not located in another store. In my store we still don't do samples and we don't even apply the make up on the person anymore due to the pandemic.
the sephora workers always recommend me the wrong shades lol
So does ulta lol
i’ve always felt that the vibes were off at sephora, no matter which location i went to. that’s why i much prefer going to ulta. even if i got followed around once bc they thought i was gonna steal something. 💀 that’s just how much i don’t fuck with sephora and everyone else’s stories about how sephora employees were rude just confirms that the vibes ARE off.
You got the vibes real quick 🙂 that's lucky for you. I on the other hand got scammed by them. They wouldn't refund me products I never got. They are too big for their britches, too corporate. They don't care about the customer at all
You're a Smart gal 💯💯😊
Okay I've never gone to Sephora. And the comments basically saved me from the *mean girls* attitude 🤦🏽♀️ thanks 💙
I've had a few bad times in sephora in the state i lived but since I moved to a different state everyone of the sephora employees are so nice
heard pre-packed samples are made from returned products or products that are soon expiring, or made from testers that have a small quantity left in the bottle...
Sephora was both my favorite and least favorite job ever. I miss the job itself but I do not miss the fraternity type of environment that resulted in me going from FT to a one 2 hour shift randomly because I did not participate in drinks after work. I didn't want to gossip or anything and I paid for it with my schedule being toyed with.
I've only been to Sephora like once since I usually shop online, but I had a great experience
staff were extremely helpful (and funny lol)
don't let other people's bad experiences discourage you, it's not like they're all going to the same branch and dealing with the same people you are
Everyone is saying they are super rude but when I go they are the nicest people ever
The Sephora collection retractible waterproof brow pencil is my holy grail, it’s only $12 and it works just as well as other high end brow pencils
Omg yes! Love their brow pencils!
I’m wearing it rn
Agreed
And the shade is great
I’m getting that next time! Anastasia is far too expensive in my opinion
I have always done all of these because it’s so hard to find things that actually work for you, didn’t know about the pre done samples though
Also I’ve dealt with rude people people at Sephora and últa because of the way I look I’m assuming, I’m brown and don’t wear makeup cause hard to find one for my skin type and I get allergies to some, and have lot of scarring and texture on my skin and skin conditions
But last time I went to Sephora at JCPenney this lady was so nice and helpful and even complimented and we talked about a show as she helped me start out on my makeup journey
My Sephora used to have a lot of rude employees. I got matched for foundation many shades too dark. This past year or two though, they’ve been really helpful! A employee helped me get matched for foundation and was actually helpful and swatched a few different options. I might use some of these tips next time I go if it isn’t too busy
I currently work at a Sephora and it’s actually really hard to hear and read some of the things that people are saying while generalizing “Sephora employees” It’s pretty hurtful tbh
I worked at Ulta before moving to Sephora so I’m aware of the differences between the two companies, on the note alone of which company cares more about their employees and genuinely values them, Sephora tops the list so far.
Macy’s does the same thing with perfume samples however,we weren’t allowed to give the samples away if you didn’t buy any perfume
I didnt know you could ask for pre packaged samples! Do you have to buy something to get them?
I think, with the ones behind the registers, yes. But ask for fountation, lip samples! We kept a lot of prepackaged samples in the drawers and they just collected dust. The samples that are kept behind the registers are typically moisturizers, face wash, mask, etc.
In my area we usually give them to beauty insiders and I give many to customers that are polite. If a customer is rude I’m less likely to give anything. But usually I always give some sort of sample
@@lole4739 good to know! I am both polite and an insider, the world is mine 😈

The sephora by my house is really nice and the staff are really helpful but they are usually really busy because it's located in the mall. I wished I had asked for general samples because I ordered online and never received the free samples because they ran out during the sale.
