I can think of a good reason for Universal control on iphone: file sharing. Iphone camera is wayyy more mobile than ipad and depending on which Ipad, the camera quality could be much better on iphone. in my experience airdrop hasnt been as reliable as I had hoped. could be a great work around. And same utility for Iphone to mac or macbook if you are editing on that and not your ipad.

This functionality exists on logitech peripherals. It works the same way and it's cross platform. You can seamlesly move your mouse between linux/windows/macos/ios and android devices. They also have keyboards that do the same.
It's not the same experience, you can't move files from one device to another, for example. And it's not as seamlessly as the Apple universal control. You don't even need to install any third party app to be able to use universal control. You can't do the same with logitech.

Coursor seamlesly goez from one screen to the other, you CAN copy files and so on. Yes you need to install logitech software on devices you want to use your peripherals with, but it also allows you to move files across different OS and not just apple eco system. And all this functiobality were available like 5 years ago on all platforms to whoever needed it.
Love that you play halo on your right monitor. I have a similar setup with Dell monitors and a centered iPad. Left monitor high PPI for design, right monitor 1ms response for halo gaming!
I've been using the public beta and Universal Control on my M1 Mac mini, and it's been great! I do have an issue with mouse scroll wheels, like you said…best to use Apple peripherals for now (though my Keychron keyboard's actually been pretty solid). I also have an Intel MBP, so it's been wild to go across and drag files between a MBP, iPad Pro, and Mac mini in various display configurations. Wow!

Giggity! Just found your page. I just went to Mac from 30 years of PC as a reseller because my eyesight has gotten worse. My software on the Mac is included with zoom features that I would have had to get a special program for had I gotten a PC. So right now, I have my 27" iMac running with Windows Remote Desktop (my quoting system requires PC) with very little lag. I quickly move over a 2nd window to my iPad Pro 12.9" holding down the green circle and selecting "iPad Pro". My iPhone/iPad Pro/Imac has been a cohesive workflow that no android or PC has ever given to me.
Not many people have made good videos about new setup opportunities when it comes to Universal Control, GREAT VIDEO I have been looking forward to the complete change in how I use my back book and iPad Pro when this comes out, and I’m so excited to see videos like this one! I am very excited for the official public release!
One of the things I used in the past, Sharemouse, was awesome to control my surface tablet and Mac Mini but it used Wi-Fi and had some considerable lag. It looks like universal control uses Bluetooth instead, and there hasn’t been any noticeable lag for me. Granted, you can’t use it to control a windows device.

Not gonna lie, I love Apple Pay and continuity and that's it. I love how I can switch between my Mac mini, MacBook Pro and iPad with the trackpad and keyboard. Haven't found out how to switch windows between the two or three seamlessly. I guess it can't be done. I guess I'm ok with that. I'll just use my Mac and MacBook Pro as my workstation. Respect!! I'll continue to use both but, Android as my mine phone OS and my iPhone as my secondary.

I’m a little confused on the purpose of the 2 docks. Is the Brydge Dock mostly for cable management and to drive dual monitor? What’s the purpose of the secondary dock? On your gaming screen, how do you have both the Xbox and Mac plugged in - Does it have 2 HDMI inputs? I have a similar setup that I’m trying to see if I can simplify. I have a really crappy 3 to 1 HDMI switch that switches via an IR remote between PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch on 1 27” monitor. Wondering if one (or both these docks) could make that more seamless. Can’t wait to be able to control my Mac via my iPad 12.9 keyboard!
This just makes me even more excited to get my on Mac book! I already use my iPad as a second monitor and this just takes it to a whole new level! 😆. But I did find it a bit disappointing that you can’t drag window tabs to and from your iPad/ Mac book or or PC.

Would UC allow me to use apple pencil on iPad to access Macbook screen (basically iPad as a touch bar) and interact with the Mac applications? Say for example I'm sharing my screen on my Macbook during the live demo with my customers and I want to use the pencil to quickly select and screenshot a part of my screen and make a simple sketch or diagram on this screenshot (and of course my customers should be able to see all this). Would I be able to do this?
I have used it. I moved my iPad into another room and noticed the mouse cursor was still in the screen. Clearly I couldn’t use the mouse from the mac and once I started using the ipad the mouse cursor went away. Lesson learned. Make sure you move the cursor off the ipad if moving to another room for some reason.
I have the iPad Air 4 and a MacBook Pro 13" M1, this is EXTREMELY unreliable for me, it does not work on most wifi, on my home wifi when I come home I have to reboot the iPad multiple times, usually need to disable "Cursor and Keyboard" before powering off, then back on and enable before it (sometimes) finally shows up. Does this work reliably for you?

My universal control between iPad pro and MacBook did not function. It was working the first time. 1. I m connecting to the same 5G wifi router 2. same Apple ID 3. both the latest update of the system 4. both are enabled handoff, universal control enabled. weirdly , my iPad only can extend my screen from the MacBook but it just won't work as universal control.

I see you can do it but is it one of those things where you don't really want to touch it in portrait for fear of it falling? I'm currently using a laptop stand to stand my 12.9" iPad Pro (2018) in portrait, but it takes up so much room on my desk and is just so unwieldy as compared to a sleek stand like that Satechi. But this laptop stand is the only thing I've found that inspires confidence with the iPad in portrait (and I prefer portrait orientation for the iPad). By the way, thanks for another great video.

I haven't been able to use sidecar and universal at the same time so I think the Luna Display system solution is more robust albeit $100 --you get the combination of Sidecar and Universal control to iPad or another Mac.

The MagicBoard for iPad doesn't support gestures yet, which means you can only drag and click but no swipe using the built-in trackpad.

The mx3 allow to copy from Apple to Windows, with that and UC, can you actually copy from iPad to windows?

It's not too bad actually. Definitely more stable than something like Twelve South's HoverBar Duo that's for sure.
