This is exactly what I've been trying to explain to dom fans... a true top player can pick up any character and perform. Mena is a top player and is proving it with Zangief

Hmm... I wonder why Mena didn't play much Zangief last patch? I pretty much remember him using exclusively Luke and Blanka. It's almost character selection matters at the highest level...
@@democaf7192 True, someone else did mention the patch... but tbf no one has performed with Blanka in tournaments like Mena does
@@thomasromano9239 ProblemX got second at Dreamhack with Blanka and was one of the most stacked tournaments ever.
@@thomasromano9239 most people agree that Blanka is very strong in this game. Problem X has also performed very well since he switched to Blanka. Certain characters are just more competively viable in this game its just how it works. I don't think we would see Mena have the same results if he switched to a character like Honda or Manon
It genuinely surprises me how annoying MenaRD makes any character he plays to play against. It urks me to no end, but not in a bad way. He plays with your mind, in the beginning you can see him buffering spd and then hitting you with a low forward. Same with his Luke and especially blanka, he plays like a hobo in crack and it works.
That’s what I like about top players. The skill expression is distinct
Lol I couldn't have put it any better myself. It's like he's trolling you but it's so lethal.
He does this "buffering" motion a few times but never buffers into anything. When he "buffers" it he is too far to hit spd on anything but a whiffed move that makes guile move foward or like a drive rush. He also likes to buffer down back down back or down forward down forward which doesnt as easily roll into an actual SPD like back down forward would. I think what we might actually be seeing is him tapping his directions on a hitbox which makes inputs look like this. You can be somewhat more precise and quick and consistent with hitbox which is why people are using it.
Always feeling funny to see how Zangief able to breaks those hard cement floor, but not able on Blanka's old wooden floor
Pretty much if anybody plays Gief, I root for the Gief player.

Guile did his upside down kick against gief's kick counter...but because guild's kick isn't grounded, the followup attack didn't trigger

i think it blocked it because it was a kick but couldnt counter because it wasnt a grounded kick

He is overtuned. Capcom decided to overtune him instead of rework and fix him so he matches their new game systems. Now hes more viable and not the worst character in the game but also its based on pure damage and meter gain instead of having a more usable kit with viable combos and super cancels.
