My family call it cheese and potatoe pie lol. My mum used to put half in the dish then sliced boiled eggs in the middle and the other half on top, cheese then oven it. We used to have it wit baked beans. Yummm!😋

@@alessia0064 not necessarily. Shepherds pie for example doesn't. I think what you were going for is that pie has a filling
@@sierrastar5155 I agree shepherds pie and cottage pie do not have a pastry case but every cheese pie recipe I have seen does have a pastry case.

As a chef I wouldn’t really call this a “pie”, as it doesn’t have a filling or pastry. But looks yummy and cosy! Happy new year 🥳

ana, it would be so much easier if you put the butter in with the potatoes before you start mashing them the butter warms up and melts and makes the potatoes easier to mash xxxx

For the smoothest mash I always mash the potato with a splash of milk and butter, salt and pepper, then mash it all up, using a masher and then a fork and it's incredible. 🥰
