If I could give you two thumbs up, I would. What a fantastic video. I'm overwhelmed in Japanese grocery stores by the sheer variety available-- I cannot read Japanese language so it's deeply frustrating and I often wonder how many incredibly useful, delicious things I walk right past in my ignorance. It's tragic. I watched this video just now...AFTER returning to my hotel with bags of 'pot shot items' (ie; things I understood just a little due to packaging design and general familiarity and am hoping for the best with, ha ha!) I wish I would have found your excellent video a few hours ago. Thank you SO MUCH. There aren't enough English language videos like this and I'm deeply grateful for your skills, energy and time in making this.
Thank you sooooo much for your lovely comment. I’m so grateful to your words that you said to me, and I was relieved to read your words. This video was made by my experience that was happened to me when I go abroad all the time. I’m so happy that you understand the way I am. Are you still in Japan, right? As long as you have a space in your luggage, you still have a chant to get them.😉😉😉 Enjoy staying in Japan.🇯🇵
@@whatsnewinjapan. I think I'm well on my way to hitting my baggage weight limit. Apparently first class on some airlines allows FIVE suitcases for checked-in baggage!!! And many others simply permit 32kg instead of the normal 23kg per bag. I'd never put 32 kilograms into a suitcase for fear it would rip open. I will weigh my bags the day before I leave so if I have weight left in my allowance I'm going to look for the things you showed me in your video. So happy to have found your channel and will watch whatever you post in the future. Hope you have an excellent week ahead! 😄🌻
Thank you so much for the reply. As long as your baggage doesn’t weight limit, you should visit the grocery store for sure. Most people visiting there are local Japanese, not really tourists. Even though you don’t buy anything, you could still enjoy the atmosphere and looking some products that you’ve never seen. If you have any problems or questions, just ask me anytime especially while you’re in Japan.😉
@@whatsnewinjapan. I just wanted to let you know that I stubbornly (and excitedly!) returned to look for some of the things you recommended in this video. I had to repack my overweight suitcases at the airport but I believe it was worth it. Again, thank you so much for your video and for being a really sweet, generous, kind person. I hope the upcoming winter season is a wonderful one for you. I look forward to cooking with my new condiments etc when it's cold and rainy outside.

So glad for this video and thank you for detailed description of each suggestion. It’s always great to have locals introduce us travelers to items or places which we may not have heard of otherwise. Just subscribed and hopefully get to hear your recommendations in the future. Have a pleasant day. ❤😊

Yes! I returned to the supermarket the day after watching this video and the rice enhancing packs (ie; veg and seasoning to add to the pot WHILST cooking rice) was the top of my list. I accidentally bought a bibimbap seasoning pack too as it was next to it on the shelf. I'm really excited to try that one as I can't seem to get my Korean bibimbap as good as the ones in restaurants, ha! I love a happy accident. This video is excellent and I hope she posts more like this in the future, she's fantastic.
Wonderfull bedio. My bad luck that a very dear friend just came back before i saw this. I asked her to get me some miso paste, wakame etc. she had to look a lot of places. I wanted tinned fish etc. next time your vedio will be my bible. Thank you.
@@parmeetkalra6378 Thank you for your lovely comment. I’m sorry that you missed the tuna canned foods that I recommend. Thank you for the comment. Fortunately Japan has a lot of healthy food that we can get easily even at convenience stores. But if we don’t choose the ones carefully, we are easy to gain weight and get unhealthy foods.😥
Most of these curry cubes contain MSG not healthy. S & B curry powder tastes just as good with only natural ingredients, no MSG comes in a tin easy to bring. I fry up veggies and whatever I have at home and mix in curry powder some tomatoes a little bit of water and for thickening cornstarch or arrowroot powder can be used if needed.

To be honest, I’m not familiar with Osaka, but Kyoto.
How about Kyoto??

Exactly, we have a tone of products with MSG in Japan.
S & B curry powder is a great choice!!!👍
