    The last 20 seconds was probably some of the most beneficial info I have heard in a while for trigger control.

      When it is for real and you are in close combat, do not use the sights. Point and shoot,then charge the assailant(s). Take them down with knife, chemical weapon, or a gun,but you should not really need the gun. Quite often, before a hit is done on yo u by professionals you are going to be hit first by an R/F weapon. If you don't khow what an R/F weapon is look it up. They are sometimes referred to as BRAIN BLASTERS. They would like to kill you with it. Give you a heart atack or fry your brain. You can sometimes feel a circle on your head or chest. When you fire your gun it is not going to be under ideal conditions. And it is most likely going to be late at night or in the wee hours of the morning. Be prepared to fire under adverse conditions at multiple targets.

    JJ Racaza is a legend and he's a serious tactical badass who helps instruct the highest eachelons of US Tier 1 special forces. Max Michel, KC Eusebio, Leatham none roll like that. If you can afford him and can ever get a class with him, don't miss it.

  • @hunyshero74

    Great advice and lesson. This is something I tend to teach in my intermediate and advanced courses because new shooters have a lot to think about in terms of sight alignment, sight picture and trigger control. I still teach trapping or pinning the trigger to the rear in the basic courses because it takes a while for students to learn to not fully release and come completely off the trigger. They have a hard time learning to actually apply the "trigger reset" technique until they learn to feel the reset in recoil. This is why its press trap reset press until you can reset in recoil. Remember its a crawl, walk, run, learning curve so please get all your basics in and pace yourself according to your ability and training. Learnign from youtube is great but please remember youtube will never correct your mistakes while you're on the range and its very hard to "self evaluate", thats what firearms instructors are there to help you with.
    Also can everyone stop ejecting and catching rounds on youtube? New shooters try that stuff and point guns at me way too often and some times they forget to take the magazine out first, so they just chambered another round, and the gun is loaded. They do this "bullet catch" because they see guys on youtube doing it and think it looks cool.

    • @tenchu744
      @tenchu744 4 года назад +1

      You are doing for basic students wrong by introducing the pin and trap method. Don't teach bad technique that you have to change later. There is nothing wrong with coming completely off that rigger in recoil and then prepping the trigger as your sights settle back on target and you then break the shot. I shoot a bunch of different guns with different resets so my finger comes off th trigger at times and I'm still fast and accurate.

    • @Capt_McNugget
      @Capt_McNugget 2 года назад

      @@tenchu744 some students don't know about trigger reset. Good to learn where it is without moving to more advanced techniques first. Once they know the rest then introduce finer skills. Need to build upon foundational knowledge first.

    JJ. What do you think about teaching brand new shooters about the concept of trigger reset by the press and pin method and then moving on to your technique of getting back to, "The wall", later in their training?

    • @usuckatshooting
      @usuckatshooting 4 года назад +1

      Hey, reach out to JJ on IG, I'm sure he'll answer. Reference this video.
      I think teaching this to a new shooter on their first few mags is okay. Once they understand what reset is, move on to reset and prep during recoil.
      Don’t continue to teach pinning or stop teaching at this point.
      For years, I thought pinning the trigger was the correct thing to do (due to poor instructors) when I should have abandoned that non-fundamental almost right away.

    Is it safe to say that pining the trigger to the rear is a good technique for a long range accurate single shot from a pistol say like 50 meters and resetting under recoil is the standard technique for fast accurate close range targets ?

    • @williamreynolds3487
      @williamreynolds3487 2 года назад

      Imo, no. Your trigger prep should be the same no matter the distance. Shooting speed should be the only thing that changes with target distance/size. Draw, presentation, trigger prep, and trigger reset should stay the same.

      I edc a STI DVC Omni. It’s a race gun without a slide racker. I use the rmr to rack the slide. Super flat with the comp and super fast. I have a STI Costa Host that I edc some as well. It’s as flat with the recoil master spring system and as fast. I do compete with a race gun. I shoot an Akai open gun in 38 Super Comp. all of JJ’s principals apply.

      First time shooters are taught to pull the trigger and keep it back until they get to the next target. They are also taught to make sure they hear an audible click on the reset. Both of those skills are used to teach beginners and allow them to become accurate. It's useless when shooting under speed. The competitors who already know how to shoot accurately don't wait to "pin" the trigger to the rear since they're already on the next shot. Waiting for an audible click on the reset is also useless. The warning for people who want to learn how to shoot accurately and fast is even if you slap the trigger, you're still not using more pressure than necessary since it disturbs the alignment.
