For a more delicious cake use the same amounts of ingredients, but replace the oil with melted butter, and replace the water with milk. MMmmmm.

Carol gets it. Yes,we can use the mix as a base and let your culinary creativity run wild. Leave off the frosting and use whipped cream and fresh strawberries to top for a fresher and healthier dessert
THE TABLE GAVE IT A 9 OUTTA 10 ! It got a real good taste of it! Hahahahahahaaaaaaa! Recky sent batter flying everywhere so Carol sent the cake flying across the table! Hahahahahahaaaaaaa.

Try strawberries in the center (sliced) in middle of cake, then add frosting on tip for holidays. Enjoy! 😊
I like to put a layer of chopped strawberries on the bottom of cake pan then pour the cake mix over.
There are two types of beaters. You have a stand mixer and a hand mixer. They do the same thing. The one you have is a hand mixer.
Cherry Chip cake was my favorite as a kid and requested it for my birthday every year! Can’t buy this in the stores anymore, however, I have bought it on Amazon before. Love you guys!

There's a good reason it's called a hand-beater. When i was a teen, i made a box mix cake. Like a dummy, I picked up the mixer by the beaters, not the handle. It must have been possessed, because it started beating WHILE I WAS HOLDING IT. My fingers were literally tangled up inside the beaters. My older brother was watching me make the cake, and I yelled at him to pull out the plug but he was freaking out so bad and jumping up and down screaming, that I had to reach over myself to do it. Amazingly, no broken bones! Lesson learned, kids.

I like to use a hand mix to whip the container of Frosting, before I frost the cake with it. It gives it more volume and a fluffy consistency.
If you don't have frosting...top it with sliced strawberries and whipped cream 🍓

When I make my strawberry cake. I put seedless strawberry jam between the layers. It's a game changer.

At first I thought that Carol had flicked the strawberry cake into Recky's lap. Which would have been even funnier. We've all done it. Don't feel bad Carol, my grandmother once embedded peas into her kitchen ceiling when she was learning to use a pressure cooker. Oh, and I forgot the time that my husband brought home Vidalia onions because I was making pot roast for dinner. I didn't realize that they were very sweet and we still laugh about me making 'sweet roast'.

I love their strawberry cake mix but I rarely double up on the strawberry icing for the same reason. It's too sweet. I would use plain vanilla frosting on strawberry cake and the strawberry on vanilla cakes just to jazz it up :).
Carol, I couldn't tell if you had frosted the cake or not. But, when you tossed it on the table, I saw it. I'm sorry, but I laughed so hard I had tears. My grandkids thought id lost my mind! Lol

I was hoping Recky would put his elbow in the table frosting but no luck. Carol it's ok you talk with your hands more than Recky so that's probably why you dropped it, it's ok & you made us laugh so that's always good. You guys did such a great job, we grew up on these cakes & all the flavors, my mom made one every couple of weeks that sat in a cake dome on our kitchen counter. So we had strawberry, lemon & orange, banana, chocolate, vanilla, yellow, angel food cake & devils food cake or she would make one of her own homemade cakes like carrot cake, coconut cake, German chocolate( my dad's favorite), or bake a pie or cobbler so we always had sweets on hand. You both did a great job & thanks for making us laugh. 😂🍓🎂☕️🩷🙏
Our faamily is more generations of southern than we can count and five in SW Florida near Plant City, the strawberry capital. At least four gens have used our family recipe. I can send it if you'd like to try something different next time.

I'd guess most us wouldn't actually use canned frosting, but I'm glad you guys like it. Yall crack me up in your kitchen. It's very common for friends or guests to hang out in the kitchen with the cook. It's like you guys invite us over to chat over coffee and silliness every episode.

It depends on the type of frosting. For instance, I've never had a canned red frosting that I've liked. But I'm more of a cake gal than a frosting gal anyway...

I make frosting from scratch but I ADMIT...I'll buy canned frosting on occasions and put it in the refrigerator. It's good to eat after it gets cold straight out of the container! LOL
I take frozen strawberries and mix in that cake mix (you can use fresh) talk about strawberry overload... yummm

Another way to try frosting/icing....once baked poke some wholes in the cake across the whole thing, then pour your frosting. The warmth of the cake will melt the frosting/icing down throughout so it isn't only in bites from the top of the cake.
Yes Recky used a hand mixer, the other kind is a stand mixer or you mix by hand.

Well now that you've tried the strawberry cake then I will try it cuz I was never really sure about it. But I always replace oil with applesauce unsweetened applesauce. The cake is kind of moisture or spongy or something like that and less calories. I think I'm going to put bits of cut up strawberry into mine

Imagine my surprise seeing this pop up after i made one of these very cakes yesterday for me and my son. It smelled so good while baking in the oven. I used the strawberry icing on it also.....very very sweet but oh so good. I even put some on my plain cake doughnut i had with my coffee. I have a spice cake with cream cheese icing scheduled for next weeks baking project. Enjoy and ❤ from fla usa

Just keep in mind that the strawberry color and taste is artificial but you can use a white cake mix and add diced fresh strawberries mixed into whipped topping for between layers and frosting

My whole family knows when I say "I've hit klutz mode" to stay away. It ain't pretty and sometimes it's dangerous, but just for me. My late sister would tell people "just watch!"
You can call a hand mixer the same as a hand blender so you're good there, but why is it so flat? I don''t know if it's the climate, elevation or oven temp. As long as it tastes good...yummy one of my favorites😋
