Honestly Salvation isn't as bad as most people make it out to be. It had introduced some great concepts and if it had been executed better, could've opened up the Terminator franchise to whole new world.
I just want another Terminator horror movie like the first one.
The deleted ending scene for T2 shows john with his now daughter and old Sarah at a playground... They should of have continued the story from there or left it at that
The Terminator: Resistance game is the Terminator 3 we needed
Edward Furlong should have been a reclusive hacker in hiding but still with his cool vibe like in T2 "Easy money" and the movie should have been about trying to find him with Sarah and the T-800 then building him back up. Even if he was in the background, bringing down Legion remotely. His current appearance would be perfect because John Connor would probably have PTSD, drug and alcohol problems after the events of T2 and coming to terms with his life. Add in Robert Patrick in a T-1000 origins role, Michael Biehn, de-aged flashbacks and the Future War and you have a great premise for a true T3 but it would have to be directed by Cameron for it to be remotely decent.
I feel really bad for Edward furlong
Edward Furlong playing Connor. Imagine how relevant the scene with him drinking a beer on the bridge would seem. He would be playing himself. Plus Connor was a junky in the beginning.
Edward just looking like he looks in real life is an excellent idea. If done right it could ride the realistic wave hard.
Norman Reedus was active back in 2003, that would've been killer if they gotten him to play John Connor, and maybe even Salvation.
Bale was a great Conner. Yelchin was a great teenage Reece.

Eddie should go workout with Arnold for 3 months, then he'd be right to return as John Connor.
John Connor: knows weapons, knows how to hack, knows how to hide from authorities, and many more skills to defeat Skynet.
The franchise should have ended with Terminator 2. Just like Aliens & Predator 2. Guys like James Cameron & Guillermo Del Toro when they make a sequel, finish, you cant beat them. Although I agree that Salvation is underrated, it just needed that James Cameron look. The 80s Cameron is gone, he wants to do more sequels to Avatar that no body asked for. "Did I ever tell you my favorite color is blue?" - James Cameron...oops I mean Sutter Cane.
I would have loved Edward Furlong to have returned. I don't think hes nearly as out of shape as people joke about, though they could interweave abit of his personal life in it.
The saga should have keep the story of Terminator Salvation, reboots only screwed everything
If Edward Furlong was to be in a hypothetical T3 film, a messed John Connor-who-gets-his-act-together would have been the way forward.
