I honestly didn’t think I’d like them, I liked the originals and liked Rise, but thought that the other two would be Hollywood cash grabs…. Boy was I wrong 😅
21:02 I’d say Caesar was 100% going to kill the Colonel. But he came in to see that the Colonel became what he feared the most and Caesar wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction. Caesar would be doing exactly what the Colonel wanted. “Do it yourself.”
Agreed. We all knew the eventual ending, in the form of the original 60s film. But up until that moment in the third movie, there was still hope that things could somehow turn out differently. That Caesar would win and help the apes not repeat the mistakes of the humans. It's just that final nail in the coffin of "Yeah... it is now firmly the planet of the apes. No going back."
@@kitten-whisperer there is imagery of revelations all throughout the movie. The symbol of Alpha and Omega, Ceasar on a cross... How do you think the filmmakers didn't intend it? It wasn't just apes on courses, it's four apes on horses, one of which is white (who died first) "behold, a pale horse, and he that sat upon it; was death".
I honestly didn’t think I’d like them, I liked the originals and liked Rise, but thought that the other two would be Hollywood cash grabs…. Boy was I wrong 😅
Thank you MT this trilogy is unbelievably beautiful and they fact they didn’t know if they would be getting another movie and it’s still this good is amazing
I’m putting my hand up awkwardly to indicate that I actually liked Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes because I was 10, and I didn’t have anything else to compare it to because I didn’t watch the originals… (._______.)
Can't lie, Woody was bad ass in this film. Also, that Koba scene was great. Cesar top leader & Maurice was a real one. That lil girl took her father being gunned down by the apes pretty well.
Ive been refreshing HS daily to see MT run through this one, it's definitely one of my favorites, even though I've always been a lil dissatisfied with what happens to the humans at the end. Thanks MT
At runtime 1hr 46mins when rockets asked Cesear how are they going to get the kids out, the camera gets closer to cesear face and eyes like the same way during the rise when Will’s dad was feeding cesear and he said “ He’s a smart one” idk I felt like that was dope shot for Matt to remember from the first movie 🔥🔥🔥
My eyes couldn't have rolled any harder when the colonel started framing himself like god, having sacrificed his only son "for humanity." Bro get over yourself. Such a crazy mf, I love it.
It seemed nova got better the longer she stayed with the apes, ether she was already recovering when they met her or exposure to the original contagion within the apes helped her immune system to fight off the new virus. She went from bed ridden and barley functioning to functional and problem solving.
great video, but you left out a great part ! When Cesar goes to defend the ape getting whipped & the colonel tells him to command the apes to slave away again & Cesar refuses to put himself first & insists his apes need food & water It Shows how good & compassionate of a leader he is THEN Lake shows she’ll work again, and the other apes quickly start to accept their fate and work to protect their beloved leader That devotion from the apes show that Cesar is a GREAT leader made me emotional
I really have a soft spot for the original 1968 movie. If was released a couple of years before I was born, but it would show up, along with the sequels and the TV series on Channel 43 out of Cleveland on Saturdays when I was a kid. That said, I am with you and think Dawn is probably the best of them all. War is less hopeful, I think.
It's funny as hell to see Mr. Charlton Heston smoking 🚬 in a shuttle/spaceship 😂 now you can't even smoke near the front door of NASA facility or any federal property
I remember rewatching Rise and Dawn to get prepared to see this in theaters. For some reason I liked it, but not so much couple weeks ago I rewatched it and Dawn ( still consider it my favorite ). But War was definitely amazing perfect way to end a trilogy. Can’t wait Kingdom.
12:15 "i love zoos" so you didn't learn anything at all from this entire trilogy, nor specifically this movie which is all about imprisoning animals in cages
I honestly didn’t think I’d like them, I liked the originals and liked Rise, but thought that the other two would be Hollywood cash grabs…. Boy was I wrong 😅
Wait what LMAO I don’t think they call the monkeys donkeys bc of DK hahahahahaha But this is why I love MT!!!! homie really thinks outside the box. I love it!!!
War of the Planet of the Apes may have been the ending of that story but not the planet of the apes movies life goes on to another time were things going to be different who will be a live by then is in kingdom of the planet of the apes movie and the movies that they will be making has their lives move on and others are born
10:06... That "NOVA" Emblem Belonged to "Bad-Ape", & He *Gave It To* "Nova", as a Type of "Peace-Offering" When "Ceasar" Was "Aggravated". (Did Ya Only Watch This Film Once?😜)
Huge shoutouts to MT for going through the trilogy and our editor Steven for all his hard work.
SHOUTOUT TO THE BOYSSSS TY FELLAS

crazy to think rocket was the very first ape that literally bullied caeser in rise, and rocket ended up being one of caesers best mans
Wow I actually didn’t think about this until you mentioned . it that’s so true it’s sad how caesers life ended . 💔
@@luissoto6299😢😢😢
Tough love
This is one of the rare Hollywood occurrences of a perfect trilogy.
I honestly didn’t think I’d like them, I liked the originals and liked Rise, but thought that the other two would be Hollywood cash grabs…. Boy was I wrong 😅
Bad Ape is one of the greatest supporting characters in cinema history
The fact that after everything they did to him, Cesar still showed the soldiers in the snow compassion it really shows the depth of his character.
he was raised by humans and decent humans at that
Stupidass soldier that he showed compassion & mercy to killed him at the end tho smh. I’m pissed lol
Yess!! Caesar was waay too generous!😢
@@batchagaloopytv5816you got humans raised by humans without that same compassion and mercy
I mean he knows they’re at fault for the war with humans

I’d say Caesar was 100% going to kill the Colonel. But he came in to see that the Colonel became what he feared the most and Caesar wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction. Caesar would be doing exactly what the Colonel wanted.
“Do it yourself.”
This third planet of the apes movie has one of saddest endings in movie history it still hits hard to this day.
I’m watching it tonight for the first time!
😢😢😢😢
Missed the four main apes on horseback : four horsemen of the apocalypse analogy
Is it though? How is it a reference to that exactly? It's literally just apes on horses.
@@kitten-whisperer there is imagery of revelations all throughout the movie. The symbol of Alpha and Omega, Ceasar on a cross... How do you think the filmmakers didn't intend it? You’re not cooking brother lol there’s not single parallel aside from 4 horses
Alpha omega symbols throughout. Caesar on a cross. Yeah okay bud
Damn good eye. Didn't notice that at first. Saw it more as a MMO group with the Gorilla as the tank lol. But you right it's the four horseman.
The greatest reboot-Prequel series ever made
I hope you narrate every review! Top tier content 😂!
All three of these movies are masterpieces and I can't get sick of any one of them
I honestly didn’t think I’d like them, I liked the originals and liked Rise, but thought that the other two would be Hollywood cash grabs…. Boy was I wrong 😅
Same
Thanks to the breakdowns, my love for the franchise has been renewed. Can’t wait for Kingdom (and subsequent breakdown by the stellar MT.)
8:17 “Ape homies, help ape homies, always” is that an Adventure Time reference? I quote it all the time
It really struck me when I saw that 90% of Ceasar's family got killed
Thank you MT this trilogy is unbelievably beautiful and they fact they didn’t know if they would be getting another movie and it’s still this good is amazing
Was planning on watching this tonight. Watched the first two the other day. Great movies!
I’m putting my hand up awkwardly to indicate that I actually liked Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes because I was 10, and I didn’t have anything else to compare it to because I didn’t watch the originals… (._______.)
You should these three remake the last 2 original movies with the addition of War
Furious George lmao😂😂😂😂
Masterpiece of a sequel/final chapter in a trilogy
Wu-Tang reference in the first 3 minutes? Like button activated 👍🏻
Yet another great movie break down M.T.!!!
MT! I can't wait to hear you break down the new one .... let's go!
would love to see anything at all about Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes from this channel
Can't lie, Woody was bad ass in this film. Also, that Koba scene was great. Cesar top leader & Maurice was a real one. That lil girl took her father being gunned down by the apes pretty well.
I just re-watched this trilogy in preparation to seeing the new movie. All three of these reviews were awesome. Adds a lot to the overall experience.
Daam this is good.
Great work MT
You are like wu tang…
I’m going to check this out at the Metreon IMAX theater here in SF. The movie looks great thanks for the setup from “War”!
Great breakdown . When i first watched the movie years ago, I kept saying Freaken Winter lol 😂
Ive been refreshing HS daily to see MT run through this one, it's definitely one of my favorites, even though I've always been a lil dissatisfied with what happens to the humans at the end. Thanks MT
WAR feels like and old west revenge/redemption movie i love it for that
I juat binged the 1st three movies.Cant wait to watch the new one!!
Nice one MT👌🏼
Was waiting for this video!!!!
As another commenter stated in the previous video, there’s a lot of “but anyways” transitions in this video, too. Hard to ignore and makes me chuckle.

You should breakdown how cold Caesar's stare is
My eyes couldn't have rolled any harder when the colonel started framing himself like god, having sacrificed his only son "for humanity." Bro get over yourself. Such a crazy mf, I love it.
Another AWESOME MT review! Got me excited for Part 4…
Cannot wait for Kingdom next week🦍🦧
Just started the video but that Wu Tang reference was *chef's kiss*.
I cried so much watching this movie im not gonna lie😂 such a beautiful story and really shows how compassionate the apes were as opposed to the humans
“Caesar-side Squad” got me lmao
It seemed nova got better the longer she stayed with the apes, ether she was already recovering when they met her or exposure to the original contagion within the apes helped her immune system to fight off the new virus. I notice that the Alpha and Omega marks a an reference from one of the originals with the atomic bomb with the alpha and omega on one of the wings
MT going IN on Winter is beautiful to hear LMAO
MT!!!!!What's up didn't realize this was yal channel too
Dude is breaking down a movie about animals free life and says he loves zoo's .
Shoot I’d love zoos too after what happens to humans in these movies 😂

Just watched the trilogy in preparation for Kingdom. Brilliant.
This video made me wanna listen to some Blues Traveler.
What I really like in the film is at the end, as the camera pans away all the apes stand up in shock as they realise the leader is no more.
Tim Burtons will always be my favorite but I’m enjoying these also
I really enjoyed MT’s work in this series, but he sure said “But anyways” a lot.
Caesarcide Squad, nice lol

MT, I laughed at the Wu tang comment.
Wait MT ain’t on new rockstars anymore?
I'm curious what would have happened if the Colonel didn't get the Simon flu
Is this the best quadtrilogy?
Not a big donkey Kong fan so today just b4 I watched this I came to the realization they call them donkey bc of donkey kong😂
