My favourite part about this was you kept the spirit of the design while simultaneously improving it. Wonderful job. I'd love to see your take of the rest, but best of luck to all your endeavors.
Your design is definitely an improvement and give him a personality . Making the heart a self applied and the stickers was a nice touch. Thank you for sharing.
thank you, glad you liked it! (I will answer here for the other comment as well), I agree. I don't think the designs themselves were inherently bad, but they failed to deliver something the audience would like to connect to (and this is actually a topic I will touch on with my next video where I design Bazz!). I watched the short cinematics they also provided and it felt very rushed, the characters felt one dimensional and like parodies of what they're meant to be. (Star Child is the stereotypical not-so-bright-warrior for example, the mage girl is the stereotypical edgy and loner dark magic user, 1-off is stereotypicaly a robot that doesn't understand human social cues, and these are not bad on their own, they're bad if they're the only thing provided as a personality. They really tried to go so far away from stereotypes and yet got so caught up in them ironically). I'm not saying my redesigns are the best, but like you said, nobody would want to BE these characters in their current state, their personality and their design is not strong enough to give off an emotion. Might sound weird because I made it but I would play like 1-off to be an overly polite and cute robot that can turn mean if somebody touches his team haha
interesting, I did see the more rebellious young character (if we're talking about Roka) in her too, but maybe I'll play with the creepy/ cutesy aesthetic too if I will redesign her as well!
The before and after is like looking at the basic design of what they wanted their general shape to look like and the after is them adding all the character and making them interesting this is amazing
thank you a lot! it's definitely not THE redesign, a lot of artists had cool and different takes, but I really tried to keep (what I think is) the essence of the original characters. I can't wait for you to see Bazz, it's even more clear there that their ideas were cool, it just lacked finish and commitment!
Thank you a lot! What is the direction you'd like with your redesign? I saw amazing designs leaning more into the tank robot aspect, so I wanted to explore the other side as well!
@@iraggeneve for all my designs I’m leaning more into what I think concord was going for; the 80s sci fi tv show with low budget so they grab whatever they can to make costumes and props. I didn’t grow up then but my family watches a lot of them so it’s nostalgic for me. So I’m kinda making 1-off more of a vacuum cleaner :D
One idea I had was a hazard sign on his belly.⚠️ And the period is his belly button. I’d also have the eye gut out past his torso. But contacted So it back spin around 360. It would also give the shape of goggles without giving him that clothing. You could have the hazard rather than painted on, welded around him, and nailed on. So it gives him a pot belly look. As for alternative skins. You remove the sign to show one off from being deferent.
congratulations on your first upload! You better always remember your 9th subscriber when you hit a million sub, send a special drawing or something :D
for me personally I always thought this character had the best original design of the game. did anyone else think this or is this is just my inexperience?
that's fair! not only tastes are subjective, but I even agree, 1-Off had one of the better designs of the game, I only tried to communicate his vibe even more through the shape language. Otherwise, the character was 80% there! I can't say the same with a lot of the other characters
i dont think this is an improvement but yeah the air cannon if its his exclusive weapon i dont see why the engeneer that made the robot didnt just include the vacuum in his arm, he is supposed to be a vacuuming air robot. Which is why he is so fat and spacious. The legs make no sense but i would keep them just make something like the gundams or other mecha robots in anime that can skate, legs but also with wheeled implements to skate.
I never called my designs improvements, they're just another take, another design of what was given. There will be as many takes as there are artists making them
I will say it, the character designs where bad for what they are designed to do. When i comes to hero shooters good attractive designs are essential. People need to want to be these characters and i don't think they do that job. It is even more evident if you compare it against other more successful shooters. The up and coming Marvel shooter is also a good comparison. If you look at Storm you want to be her. These designs just don't do that job.

thank you very much! that was my intention and I'm glad I could pull it off

I watched one of the trailers. The lady with the helmet and the body suit. Is apparently meant to be a cuddle team leader type of character.

Amazing first video and yes I would love to see more!!
thank you!!
I love how concord caused there to be multiple character redsigns.
same! the art community really came together haha. I also love how different all the designs are, everybody having their own interpretation!

He’s so cute! I’ve been trying to redesign him for a while now, it’s nice to see a fresh take like this. Great first vid, hope to see more!

all of those are fun suggestions, I like the hazard on his belly idea!
good redesign! i also love your accent :D
thank you! and omg, my accent is something I'm a bit shy about but glad you like it haha
@@iraggeneve well I for one think its adorable 💚

hahah thank you very much, 9 is a very special number that's true!
@@iraggeneve You didn't pass the test, you were supposed to say we're all special. hahaha
@@nickmack7282 omg I failed my first RUclipsr test noo XD
It's like they tried to create a man sized Urbanmech, but deprived it of everything that made the Urbie endearing.
hahah I can see that!

Can you start concord redesigning series?
I got such positive feedback that I started working on Bazz right away, and hopefully make it into a full series

He needs legs like Iron man’s hulk buster.
haha I can see the vision! they look a lil bit like that, actually, if I made them a bit sturdier!
Oh god...
