You can take it anyway you want but you can also easily make this about a person that you are in love with but also can’t stand because they treat you like shit. You don’t want them to come back then when they do- you’re so captivated by their song. You don’t want to hear it but they have a powerful attraction. People that have been in this type of relationship will probably hear that story.

This is a great production musically speaking, and the voices are great. Their sound is very unique. You can feel Beyonce's hand in this (they're in her record company). The problem I see is actually external: a unique, alternative sound works for Beyonce because she's already a diva with many hits and 20 Grammys in her past. Her last record is the best in her career, but it's not a hit in the media. Still, it doesn't matter because she no longer needs hits and because her audience are not teenagers anymore, but older people. But when she started she was more generic, more aimed for teenagers, and created actual Billboard hits. I don't imagine this song by Chloe and Halle being loved by the American 15 year olds that right now love Selena Gomez, Miley, Ariana, Demi, 5th Harmony, Rihanna, Megan Traitnor, Zara Larsson, etc... nor climbing the Billboard lists, which is what Halle and Chloe need in their debut. This works to present them as amazing singers, and for an older audience, not to make them music stars.

I think they were a part of it actually.. Their faces look familiar. They could have been amongst the crowd of girls Beyonce chose to be in parts of Lemonade (like Quvenzhane Wallis, Amandla Stenberg, Zendaya Coleman, etc.), plus it would make sense seeing as Beyonce played this video before her show when I went to see her in Paris.

I feel like for years it was Chloe in the spotlight and Halle seen as the backup sister, and then she got the role of Ariel and people are suddenly like, "oh wait, no, she's amazing!" The coolest thing is how both sisters have always been totally loving and supportive of each other. Just watch interviews where they are both asked about The Little Mermaid; Chloe literally jumps up and down with excitement for her little sis. Whichever one is trending at any given moment, they are both role models for the way they unconditionally empower each other.
