5.0 adds another 388 lines to Jenassa, including quest reaction for the Companions, the College of Winterhold, more side quests, as well as a new approval system, more story interaction, and a romance quest.
As of 5.0, Jenassa has 1204 lines of dialogues.
---
This mod is part of my series to renovate vanilla characters with additional depth and interaction, similar to the other Dialogue Expansion mods.
Features:
1. Expands Jenassa with 1204 lines (main version + DB version altogether), all voiced by high quality AI (see the video for reference)
2. Quest awareness for all guilds' questlines, vanilla main quest and DLC main quest, many side quests
3. New story-driven interactions
4. New romantic lines if married
5. Romance quest
6. Approval system
7. Weather awareness and location-awareness, including cities and dungeons
8. Completely lore-friendly, expanding rather than completely rewriting the character
This mod is 100% compatible with any mod, including dialogue expansion mods from other authors.
Safe to add mid-save.
There is a potential for future expansion with Jenassa, including optional synergy with the overarching Shezarrine Saga
My favorite follower Jenassa 🥰
Beautiful but deadly 💘🗡
This is really impressive and well-done.
I'm not sure all this dialogue matches with the lore or Jenassa's established character, but Bethesda is pretty sloppy with their lore, and this is an impressive undertaking for a modder.
This sort of mod is something I've been looking for for a while, so I'll definitely check this out! Thanks for making this!
Vanilla Jenassa didn't have a lot of story
@anbeegod No she didn't. But she did have some interesting comments that implied her moral compass was on the sociopathic side, and she enjoyed her... art. Here's a bunch of her quotes I got from the UESP wiki which come to mind.
"I thought about becoming a bandit. I decided I preferred clean clothes and fresh mead."
"I am the shadow at your back."
"Walk always in shadows, so that you will see your foes before they see you."
"Blade and shadow, silence and death - these are my arts. For a modest fee, I'll make great art for you."
"I know nothing of fear and nothing of remorse. Pay my fee, and together we will vanquish any foe."
"Death is my art, and like all artists, I seek a patron. For a mere handful of gold, I will follow you into any danger."
"I am a lethal instrument, yours to command for a modest sum. I suggest you hire me before one of your enemies does."
"I am an artisan, painting in strokes of blood red upon the canvas of life. But yes, I will take coin to fight at your side."
Some of the lines in the video don't immediately mesh with this (but others do), but hey, maybe in context they make far more sense for her character in the context of her character development and opening up to the player character, so I could be wrong. Overall I think these are very minor issues (if at all) with an impressive and well-written mod.
The other issue is the lore re Hammerfell. Presumably the events she describes there are are after tbe White-Gold Concordat, where the Empire surrendered Hammerfell to the Aldmeri Dominion; Hammerfell then successfully fought a war to kick out the Thalmor, but the Empire earned their hatred for the betrayal. Jenassa's Hammerfell story seems weird in this context, as it seems strange to expect the Empire to intervene when they've abandoned Hammerfell, and intervening would likely re-start the Great War, and Hammerfell would likely want no aid from the Empire that betrayed them to the Thalmor.
@@antiochus87 About her personality: the current version focuses more on her morally grey worldview as a mercenary. Her vanilla lines do not contradict the new lines. The original Dark Brotherhood version had her be an evil assassin and might be in line with what you were looking for.
About Hammerfell: the Empire logically should not intervene in Hammerfell's politics, but many civilians (be they humanist / Imperialist) would still consider Hammerfell to be the Empire's responsibility. There are also Imperial opportunists who would use it to attack the Emperor's weakness and inaction in the face of great injustice. Look at the real world politicians who have started debates over similar situations, crying for humanitarian aid / invasion to protect allies etc. Which is why Jenassa's assessment was accurate - the Empire cannot afford to take action, especially not when the victims aren't even Imperial subjects.
@@anbeegod My comment wasn't implying that Jenassa had to be morally black, simply that the dialogue didn't match her lines already in the game. For example, her established (albeit limited) personality implies she would be ill-suited to be a merchant or a blacksmith and is proud of her skills with a blade.
However, despite how morally dubious her lines might be, I'm happy for her to be portrayed as morally grey, pragmatic and cynical about the world. It could just be that the lines in the video are further along her character development and getting through her shell compared to her vanilla lines, like I said in my previous comment. So I accept that.
Generally, I personally don't like characters to be portrayed simply as good or evil as it feels unrealistic. For example, the way the bandits and Forsworn in Skyrim are generic and generically hostile and considered evil, while the player is obliged to side with jarls and ruling factions that are evidently highly corrupt in most cases. There's no complexity, context or explanation.
Regarding Hammerfell, that's an interesting point. I don't know how you chose to develop Jenassa's background, so the reaction she has in the video might make perfect sense for her based on her background, or based on her second hand experience of pro-Empire people with interests in Hammerfell or who lived there whose views match those expressed in the video (e.g. people heavily invested in the Empire, but in denial about the betrayal, its implications and strategic implications).
However, based on the above quotes from the Jenassa from from the base game, and warcries like "Nerevar guide me!", this leads me to think she is a Morrowind Dunmer who likely belongs to the culture and religion of Morrowind, not an Imperialized Dunmer who follows the Nine (or Eight) Divines. This does not strike me as a person who would put any trust in the Empire even in the best of times.
The perception of the Empire of the various characters should be more complex in some ways than presented in TES5 Skyrim. In fact in TES2 Daggerfall and TES3 Morrowind, the fact that the Empire was essentially interfering against rulers, political systems and cultures that were in some way hostile to Imperial influence, is key to the inciting incidents and stories of both games.
As for commoners, there are several significant degrees of separation between the Empire and the actual majority of the population in the provinces (local rulers and local nobility - kings of Sentinel, Daggerfall, High King and jarls in Skyrim, the Dunmer houses in Morrowind).
So you have it established that local rulers in High Rock, Hammerfell and Morrowind had strong local cultures, and political systems that rejected Imperial influence during essentially a golden age for the Empire. It seems strange that this would change in the the Fourth Era by such an extend that provinces outside of Cyrodiil became vehemently pro-Empire with all that happened since the Oblivion Crisis, and if anything we have reason to believe Imperial control is, if anything, weaker.
In the actual Middle Ages, the common folk and peasants had little investment in the wars of kings, emperors and the nobility (such as the Hundred Years War, or how the Skyrim Civil War appears across much of the game). Apart from those actually in the Legion or with invested interests in the Empire (the nobility or wealthy merchant class) then it's likely most would be more apathetic to the Empire in general, and even in the Civil War more concerned with local issues.
This would likely include taxes, harvests, security and the excess, exploitation and corrution of the local nobility the jarl. They would likely be more concerned about the threat of dragon attacks and pillaging armies, and the inability of their feudal lords and jarls to protect them. They would likely view the Empire with a certain amount of apathy or animosity, just like the Stormcloaks, and as invaders and plunderers depending on where they lived. They might barely be aware of the Empire as the local nobility and aristocracy are so much more prominent in their lives.
This even applies to Dunmer in Eastmarch, who outside of Windhelm might be largely unaffected by Ulfric Stormcloak's policies. Pro-Empire stance of Dunmer in Windhelm is more discontent with Ulfric Stormcloak and local conditions than actual support for the Empire itself. Dunmer in other Stormcloak holds (such as the Reach, which has a large and historic Dunmer population) might not consider Ulfric Stormcloak's politics at all, and instead focus on local issues.
If we assume that Jenassa is a commoner from Morrowind (an outlander in Skyrim or Hammerfell and the Empire in general), you could easily conclude that she might view the Empire similar to the House Redoran nobility in Raven Rock. House Redoran in Raven Rock view the Empire with strong animosity for a perceived betrayal and abandonment after Red Mountain erupted and the Argonians invaded, and they offer the only real Dunmer perspective of the Empire by non-Skyrim Dunmer. Or, as a commoner from another land, Jenassa might view the Empire with some level of indifference, apathy or animosity, as a distant authority that interferes and a Legion that loots and seizes local supplies for wars of nobles.
Of course, this is all highly subjective, and the views Jenassa has might make perfect sense for how you've developed the character and her character development in the mod, or even if you've chosen to re-interpret the character.
I guess a lot of players probably fill in the gaps in their minds to popular characters in Skyrim based on interpretations of their lines - especially after more than a decade of playing the game. My comment was not meant as a criticism, but rather just an observation based on the above interpretation.
I see Jenassa and I act unwise. 😍
Hail Sithis.
Now just like updated Illia, Jenessa now has personal thoughts and commentary on every guild questline in the game, I'm starting to like her even more now. Any chance of updating the dialogue expansion for Brelyna Maryon?
It's great to see another update from FDEJenassa, but what surprised me most recently was the update from FDELydia. Because in this update, Lydia has a part of her voice that is fighting with Jenassa, which is very interesting. So why not expand some of the bickering content between her and Lydia in the FDEJenassa update?
I added all of their conflicts to FDE Lydia
@@anbeegod Will there be such content in the future FDE Lydia update?

When will you do someone else again?
Just bought and installed this mod mid-playthrough. Kind of curious as to how her approval system works. Do I just bring her along on my adventures? Or do I have to do certain quests and/or select certain dialogue options?
Dialogue, quest, traveling
@@anbeegod God it, thanks for letting me know!
Is this going to be on Xbox one ?
