    Thanks for this review! So i am the luckiest lady! I had a older 7.1 model and happened on bidding on this model on an auction and it said "didn't power up when plugged in" I took a chance. They obviously didn't know that there is a power switch. So i got it for $5 the only thing wrong is the tv was broken off and wasn't included!! I have a nordic track spin bike and nordictrack treadmill and love all of them!

    Just purchased the newer commercial 14.9 elliptical (little bit of a different version) from Best Buy...your review sold the deal! BTW, you can probably have someone disassemble and move it to your basement. Great job with the weight loss!

      Thanks. It is a great machine. I considered taking it apart but I would have to strip it down a lot to make the 90 degree turns on my basement stairs. Given that my wife would have pain when using it, we opted to get the Cybex Arc trainer which she had used at the gym. Since it was smaller, it was easier to get into the basement. I do like it but I miss some of the features of the Nordic Track as it is such a good machine.

    I recently found out that the model he has in the video is the special “Elite” version. They only offer these when the regular ones run out of stock, or for special promotions. The newest version of this machine is about $2k and has a very nice built in 14” display (his has a 7” display). Not sure with the new upgraded version if they will go back to offering the Elite one, as I think most do what he stated he did and mount a larger TV on the wall in front of his machine. Great review though RR!

    Thank you for a great review. My wife and I have started thinking about buying this exact unit and was excited about your video until you mentioned your wife's meniscus tear. My wife has had one surgery already and is scheduled for another one just next week. :-( Might have to rethink this purchase.

      Yes, it was just a bit much for her knee injury. I bought a Cybex Arc Trainer about 1.5 years ago (around the time I made this video) and she can use that without issue. This has also proven helpful for me as I took a bad spill on my dirt bike and messed up my knee a little. I was traveling for work a few weeks ago and tried getting on the elliptical they had at the hotel and it messed up my knee for a few days, yet the Arc trainer doesn't bother my knee at all. I can still burn just as many calories as the Nordictrack but without pain in my knee. I did a review of the Arc Trainer as well here...ruclips.net/video/Gl0m9_Eq7oM/видео.html. You can find them used at a reasonable price but new they are pretty expensive.

    I bought a Nordic treadmill some 12 years ago and that's the EXACT same touch screen. Exactly the same. I can't believe they've changed nothing. The whole console is also just the same as my treadmill, but a bit narrower. You would expect some kind of upgrade in picture quality. Granted, it's not for entertainment, but still.

    • @RoughRidersTV
      @RoughRidersTV  3 года назад +1

      As I am not familiar with what they did previously, I cannot really add much. However, I work in tech as an Engineer. The touchscreen is basically a 7" android tablet just like you would buy online or at Best Buy. It just has a custom s/w interface application running on top. You can actually kill the application and get to the base Android operating system (looks like it may be running Kit Kat). Android tablets all look pretty much the same over the years so I'm not really surprised that the design hasn't changed much. I would expect that they refresh the application running on top but it's functional and works pretty well and certainly better than a lot of current machines that still use crappy LED block lights.

    Hi, thank you for this informative review. I would like to ask if buying a 7-year old used elliptical with the same unit you had in this video is worth it? According to the seller it is in good condition. It is my first time buying a used fitness equipment like this that’s why I’m not sure if I will get the deal.
    I will appreciate your advice. Have a great day!

    • @RoughRidersTV
      @RoughRidersTV  2 года назад

      I believe mine was 7 years old when i got it. I think you just need to look it over carefully and see how well it was taken care of. Look for rust anywhere, see if the bearings are smooth when you get on it. See if the buttons on the control panel and handles feel worn. Mine was in near new shape so it was very well cared for and everything worked smoothly. If there is anything that gives you pause, there is probably a reason for that so it may be best to walk away unless you feel like it is easily repaired.

    I just picked one of these up used and the TV display doesn't seem to work. Does that have anything to do with the elliptical or is it strictly a TV monitor? Is it integrated at all or just basically mounted to the machine?

    got mine today and had assembly team assembled it for me. assembly team was quick to leave the scene before I can test anything by telling me, I should contact support team if I ever run into trouble. but damn, they are right. as soon as I get on and start pedaling, left pedal starts to squeaking. I can pin point the location but I checked all bolts on left pedal and they were tightened up. i am so pissed coz I just dropped $1800 for this and it starts to squeaking from day one. i am 280lbs but and pedal doesn't squeak when pedal it with my hands without getting on elliptical. can my heavy weight causes squeaking noise even though I am 70 lbs under supposedly 350lbs weight limit or there is something wrong with my elliptical?

    What Is The Best Exercise Machine If Your Goal Is To Lower Your Blood Pressure? I was thinking of getting a stationary bike or an elliptical from NordicTrack. I have high blood pressure and currently do 0 exercise and was recommended by my doctor to do at least 30 minutes a day.

    • @RoughRidersTV
      @RoughRidersTV  2 года назад

      Let me start by saying I am not a fitness/health expert. However, I too have high blood pressure and exercise is part of how iI control it. As I travel a lot for work, I get to try different machines on a regular basis based upon what equipment the hotel has. I don't know if one machine is better than the other for this type of stuff. So I think it comes down to why type of machine are you most comfortable on for exercising. I personally don't like stationary bikes, I've owned one in the past and it just didn't work for me. I switched to an elliptical and found I liked it more. I tried an Arc Trainer from Cybex and liked it more than the elliptical. So the Arc Trainer is my primary machine now along with weights. I have found that this has helped me control my blood pressure and I do a min. of 30 mins a day but more often 45mins to an hour on the Arc Trainer and then weights every other day. I think the point is find a machine you like as it will make it easier for you to work out (making less excuses). Cardio machines of any type will help improve your health, you just need to find out what you like. Hope that helps.

    Just wondering how much time you spent on the machine and on what resistance level to achieve your weight loss?

    • @RoughRidersTV
      @RoughRidersTV  4 года назад +3

      Thanks for stopping by. I think it helps to understand what I did and why in order to understand the results. My goal was to lose weight without radically changing my diet. Now, I don't eat a ton of fast food nor a bunch of junk/candy, etc. but I'm also not the healthiest eater either. I wanted to see what I could do about my weight without doing any diets because I do enjoy the foods I do eat. When I first started, I could barely do 5 mins without getting winded and out of breath. However, I stuck to it every day and was able to go longer and longer. The machine was in my home office so I would jump on it for 5 mins in between emails and phone calls a few times a day and then do a workout in the evenings of 30-40 mins. So, my daily total was somewhere between 40mins and an hour. The resistance level and inclination slowly increased as well. Before I sold it (bought a Cybex Arc Trainer to replace it), I was at about a 5-7 degree inclination and a resistance level of 5 (out of 25 levels). Hope that helps.

      This is the “Elite” version, which is only occasionally offered. But with the newest version released, which has a whopping 14” HD display built in, you basically don’t need the TV mounted on it. Better to simply mount a much bigger TV on the wall, since TVs are so inexpensive now.

      This model actually comes with the TV and mount already on it. I have since replaced this elliptical with an Arc Trainer that does not have a TV. Therefore, I just mounted a 40" TV to the wall in front of it. If you really want to mount a display to the elliptical itself, you would probably need to have a local machine shop design fabricate a mount of some sort.

      @@RoughRidersTV Thanks for the reply I ended up not getting it - Its hard finding a tv monitor to mount. Sorry, I don't remember. As I don't have this machine anymore, I don't know if you can program your own routines. @@RoughRidersTV why did you got rid of it?

    • @RoughRidersTV
      @RoughRidersTV  3 года назад

      @@andreaj2621 A couple of reasons. 1) my wife has bad knees and could not use the machine. 2) I could not get it down into my basement where the rest of my weights and exercise equipment resides. I have 2 90 degree turns and a low ceiling and this was just too large to make those turns. So I picked up a Cybex Arc Trainer which I could get downstairs and it was easier on the knees so my wife could use it as well. Getting it down into the basement was the biggest reason. I loved having it in my office so I could do short, quick workouts throughout the day but all my other stuff was in the basement so I didn't like working the elliptical, then running downstairs to do weights, then back up stairs for the elliptical, then back down for more weights. It was all just too inconvenient. Hence, getting a machine that I could get down the stairs was critical.

    I just got my 14.9 Nordictrack elliptical and it came broken. I had professionals put it together for $250.00 and ICon is charging me a return and restocking fee of $440.00. I am fighting this fee because the machine came broken and why would they restock a broken machine. I must have gotten someone else's restocked broken machine. I'm out $850.00 and no elliptical, I'm sure I'm just one of the unlucky one's as I bought this because of all the good reviews, but if you look at the consumer affairs reviews the last few months they must be mass producing these because a lot of people are having the same problem. Not sure I would say it's really bulky but it's definitely not designed to fold up and slide under a bed or anything. This is a commercial grade machine made to withstand a lot of use and therefore uses heavy gauge steel tubing with strong welds. If you need a space saver design, this is not the model for you but if you want something that will last, this is a pretty solid model.
