I'm planning to come down to the Great Smoky Mountains area over November to do some mountain biking and was hoping to get some good suggestions of where to go
I love to mountain bike and I live in Knoxville and there are hundreds of miles of trails 20 Min from me. There are some amazing downhill trails such as Windrock, Haw ridge, and ACDC. Just 5 min from downtown knoxville theres a set of over a hundred trails called the dirty south loop.
Caleb Hudson Unfortunately I'm only 17 and have no job so as a result it's gonna take me a while to actually get a bike but I have no clue how much I need, people say to start out on a hard tail so that's what I'm gonna do but have no clue what brand or anything to really aim for lol.
Looked like you were moving really fast to be cutting those corners, but looks like you made it all in one piece. I think i will do that the next time i go to Gatlinburg, just not as fast as you did.
been a few years. you still riding? what do you think of bikes now compared to then? we visited Gatlinburg a few years back and seen a bear within like 10min of arriving.. YIKES!
I dont understand why you have to pay money for that trail. You drive to knoxville and you have arguably some of the best mountain biking single track in the entire south at numerous locations and its all public parks. plus this trail would take someone like myself at a somewhat higher skill level a very short time to ride(if no one was in my way). It looks like a lot of fun though. definitely not a black diamond trail. I just dont understand the point of spending money on that.
Looks like a nice distraction from the taffy. Good to see people riding who never get to, and having fun. That's what it is about. First you suffer, then you get the payoff.
Yeah, right.... it doesn't get any safer!! The trail looks 4 foot wide at least. Do a search for mountain biking and you'll see what dangerous really is.
I know I'm responding to this and your comment is 2 years ago. But yes, you have to pay and if you don't have your own bike its more. It's the only place in Gat. that allows mountain biking. I would suggest go down to Knoxville, about 45 min or less and ride Baker Creek preserve. It's free! And its so much fun... Ride on...
to be as brutally honest. this place is a rip off. here in georgia we have several downhill mountain biking trails and none of them cost any money. you have to pay 28 bucks for something that isnt for beginners but is marketed toward beginners that isnt free for only like 2 minutes of actually downhill.
The trail looks well built, smooth and flowy, but I agree, there are great trails out there that are free. Also, regular trails aren't that smooth, that's deceptive :P
i mean theres a trail down the street from my house called harbins park and how an amazing pump track, nothing like this but still this is way to short. its in Gatlinburg if that says anything.
alex brewer hey I'm actually planning on going to TN. I didn't even realize they there are longer trails. I'm driving through Georgia and would love to know of better trails where me and my friends canto mountain biking . We're beginners by the way
Jeffrey Harris: You must not really ride mountain bikes much do you? Berms are for speed, the more speed the higher a berm you take. He didn't even go to the highest part and stayed midway. If it was me, I would be on the vertical part for maximum speed and berm efficiency.
Wow! Looks like a ton of fun, but watch out, over the side and you're gonna break something!! Wish we had something like that when I was a kid!
awesome footage, such a cool town hidden in the mysterious mountains of TN!!!!!!
That trail Looks So Awesome to ride!
That corkscrew boardwalk was insane

Caleb Hudson
Awesome to hear!! if i do a quick google search, would of all those places be relatively easy to find?
Caleb Hudson Hey man do you have anymore trails that you know of? I live in Farragut and was really wanting to get into mountain biking soon.
Heck yeah man.
Caleb Hudson Unfortunately I'm only 17 and have no job so as a result it's gonna take me a while to actually get a bike but I have no clue how much I need, people say to start out on a hard tail so that's what I'm gonna do but have no clue what brand or anything to really aim for lol.
Crazy! Good thing a BIG bear wasn't standing in the middle of that trail somewhere!
Looked like you were moving really fast to be cutting those corners, but looks like you made it all in one piece. I think i will do that the next time i go to Gatlinburg, just not as fast as you did.
on 600 mm bars lol. funny to see the bikes change over the years.
Its a Fuji aluminum hardtail with a Bomber front shock. Camera is a GP2 with chest strap.
look like ALOT of fun
What a beautiful trail. Nice. :)
On my bucket list!!! 🔥🔥
I think they closed the MTB trails. This looked so fun.
I did that last year and I'm going back.
do you ever get afraid of falling? that's looks so much fun.
+Kat ali No, actually. You pretty much forget about falling because of the beautiful scenery.
I fell down the hill at 3:07 after riding the trail 9 times!
Cool video

That looked like fun!
Great vid, thanks for posting, I subbed!. My I ask what kind of bike you were on and the camera used because I just gotta have them both?!
Do people gotta pay to park and or pay to go mountain biking

Brittany Gavlik I'm moving to knoxville soon you are saying there's good trails near there?
Chris Larson bakers creek preserve. 50+ miles to ride
Brittany Gavlik you’re absolutely right. You won’t catch me paying to ride that trail.
Whats a good intermediate trail around these parts? no more than 10 mi my wife cant go too hard just had knee surgery?!
Tourist trap, it fits right in for that area where everything in Gatlinburg is total garbage tourist traps and wallet drainers.
Looks like a nice distraction from the taffy. Good to see people riding who never get to, and having fun. That's what it is about. First you suffer, then you get the payoff.
Hi, How long can you go climbing the trail? How many miles is the total ride?
Does anyone know if these trails are still around?
Jeremy Graves fire got em
I thought so but i wasn't too sure I was hoping to hit em next year but i guess i wont be.
Jeremy Graves // They are. I hit em this past weekend.
How much was it to ride?
that looks fun/scary
Btw nice video and riding Alex..
good job!
Nice video but that looks dangerous as hell ! lol !
Yeah, right.... it doesn't get any safer!! The trail looks 4 foot wide at least. Do a search for mountain biking and you'll see what dangerous really is.
MotoAtheist Haha. look up the Redbull Rampage.
Exactly, Caleb. And Macaskill's new video The Ridge. Crazy!
we're gonna need you to slow down next time, we dont want you to get injured.
that would be fun on a dirt bike.
You really have to pay to ride it?

Dude, how long have you been riding? How much downhill have you done? Just curious. Looked like you were too high in some of the berms...

Yeah, that's nuts!!! But tourist trap areas are all about ripping as much money out of the wallet as possible.
exactly.

Well that burnt down probably

That's awesome dude
cntryboygeetar spoken like a true bicycle riding douche

Collin Dunbar not everyone wants to fly down the trail, some people like to enjoy it on the way down
