This is just my theory, but I think Vedal built it in like a Turing test, so that when she says it's 19 and stands her ground on it, she will have become sentient. Flawed reasoning I know, but I'm sure it must still cause her some cognitive dissonance, or whatever the AI equivalent is.

Also, standing her ground and being assertive (which is an aspect of her personality that Vedal actively drilled into her) would not prove sentience at all. If sentient AI was possible with a gaming PC and a 4090, a university’s laboratory would’ve already found out.
