The End is probably an immortal, invincible god that only loses its physical traces for around 2000 years when defeated. The End is probably the True Infinite for being the undying chaos.
When it's talking about the ancients it has a godly voice
But when it's talking about sonic it has this almost human voice with anger
Sonic’s stubbornness supersedes time and space itself.

@@ATwistedKindofParadise He knows he'll die, but only when he can't avoid it anymore. He said it best himself when he said "his story only ends when he stops running"
"I was contained once.
Once."
When I heard that, I was like.
"Well... It's going to happen again for a 2nd time. So get ready for it."
Reminds me of Johnny Dangerously.
I never understood that phrase. When the End questions Sonic’s never wavering courage, it mentions being contained, followed by “Is that why?”
Like what does being contained have got to do with helping it understand why Sonic is always fearless?
@@iam4026 So basically it's saying that since it's only been bested one time in the past that there is a sliver of hope left. It's asking Sonic if that sliver of hope is why he keeps going. Goes back to Sage and Sonic throughout the game and how Sage tells Sonic the odds are against him but he says that he'll always find a way.
@@iam4026 The End is questioning why Sonic doesn't fear The End. It believes that because it was contained once, that sonic believes there's a chance.

The indifferent cruelty of the universe vs. The indomitable Golden Hedgehog
@@TheGorpster with a gun
@@TheGorpster It would probably be abit worst from the suppose "the indifferent cruelty of the universe" if said "indomitable Golden Hedgehog" was flashing rainbow with after images trailing behind him... (Hyper)
I belive this to have a deeper meaning
For all that a being that is supposed to be indifferent to things, it sure comes across as a sore loser at the last bit, whinging about
"You are not brave; you are not victorious."
Meanwhile in the Japanese dub it comes as something more than "something, something face your end. Something something The End comes for you all!"
I am the orchestrator and arbiter of order in the universe.
My light is judgment. I melt all things and return them to the primordial dust.
Nothing can escape the infinite light. Answer Me, little life.
Only through My discipline and judgment can life everywhere find peace.
Many lives are now at peace under my guidance.
Is it thy bloated ego that makes thee choose that path?
Is it the aspiration of life to find the meaning of existence?
The stronger the aspiration that life embraces, the more thousands of tribulations will descend upon it.
Behold the many lives that flee and try to escape in the face of the hardships before them.
Life, except for Me, is an entity that cannot overcome its own fragile mind.
Life is oblivious to the ignorance that makes it believe only it does not make mistakes.
There is no such thing as an absolute constant in the universe.
Only a future of stupor awaits us in the face of irrationality and absurdity.
When judgment comes, reality will be revealed. What did you crave, what did you discern, what did you question, what did you ponder, what did you accomplish?
I hereby seal this planet forever.
My attunement is the ruling of fate on everything that exists in this universe.
Since time immemorial, it has been ordained that aspiring life forms will come to this end, and that there is no way to challenge thine foolishness.
Hear, I say, the chirps of darkness that lurk in thine heartbeats.
Life is to stagnate and enter its twilight. But thou wilt go on? It is a choice that is hard to understand.
Stop the nonsense now. This is the last warning.
Indeed. This was decided from the ordination.
It has been repeated time and time again.
I see. Is the meaning of thy existence in this universe?
Canst thou devote thy being to that aspiration which guides life?
Something is about to happen. Something that transcends law and time. Is this the beginning of evolution?
I see. So that is what the universe is, what life is.
That “and you?” Is the most intimidating shit out of everything this moon said to Sonic
I like how towards the end, The End just turns off their male voice and gets angry. It's basically a case of "Okay, I think I've made my point. Now realize just what you're up against and give up already!"

@@jacsonf1341 Yeah, a real shame. I would've liked to hear more lines from The End, but... just one new line. That's it.

Sonic bosses represent:
Technology vs Nature (Eggman, Metal Sonic)
The sins of the past (Chaos, Shadow)
Predestination vs Determination (Black Doom)
Time and Space (Mephiles, Iblis, Solaris, Time Eater)
Inner Darkness (Dark Gaia)
Solitude vs Friendship (Neo Metal Sonic, Infinite)
And now Order and Chaos, the Beginning and... (The End)
Who said that a game about a blue hedgehog running fast and collecting rings can't be serious or deep?
Technically we already got Order and Chaos with Merlina vs Sonic which fits super comfortably under that, though I’m sure there’s some better representative metaphor with this

The End's true form is different depending on who sees it. it takes the form of your worst fear.
@@cherrybombwaffles518 More precisely, the form of how a person perceives death.
You have fought machines and gods, they were mighty, they were finite, I am infinite. I love that line soooo much!!!
When it says that line, it just reminds me how much of a joke Infinite was in Forces. Has no right to be named that when his origin was having a soyjack rage moment after Shadow called hime "weak" 😂
@@mizutsunebubbledragon3382 Seriously... like, come on, being called 'weak' by Shadow is hardly an insult considering he's literally called 'The Ultimate Lifeform'.
@@lukasruston8618Infinite's ego couldn't handle not being the strongest guy in the universe
@@slavishentity6705 I have the headcanon that the reason why Infinite was so easy to defeat (not needing Super Sonic) despite him being 'the strongest villain yet' is because of his ego; he knew he was the strongest yet and so he believed he didn't need to put any real planning into his attacks in each fight, he just tried to brute force everything because his arrogance believed that he didn't need to try any more than that.
What's interesting is how THE END is a complete contrast to Infinite. Aside from their names being obvious contrasts, there are tons of similarities and differences between them. Both subvert the whole "Evil is not a toy" trope, but whereas Infinite was an intentional creation of Eggman, THE END is an ancient evil who Eggman didn't know existed until the finale. Both of them have connections to anti villains (Chaos and Shadow respectively). However, a big difference is something regarding the chaos emeralds. Infinite was unique in that, to date, he's the only villain with no connection or interest to the chaos emeralds (to the point he uses a different emerald) while THE END is the reason the Chaos Emeralds came to Earth. To make the contrast even better, Infinite uses an artificial sun while THE END takes on the form of a giant purple moon.
THE END also contrasts from previous eldritch abominations Eggman used that turned on him. Where as some Eggman had complete success controlling (Time Eater), believed he had complete control only to be betrayed (Dark Gaia and Chaos), or simply being underminded and end up being a pawn to the villain (Solaris), THE END itself is an ancient evil that completely ignores Eggman
Another thing too is that Infinite was prideful and obvious, having a major presence in Forces. While THE END also has a major presence, compared to Infinite, it's more subtle about it
I hope we see more of this new villain, the end said that this was just an incarnation, maybe The end has multiple vessels, and now they are scattered through the earth
@@dext1352 Yeah I think THE END will reappear since I doubt Sonic actually killed it off for good. At best, he basically delayed the inevitable.

i love how it slowly transitions from the spooky female voice we heard through the game to his real voice
In the beginning of this video, The End uses the female voice more, but slowly transitions to the male. At the end when using the gnat line, it goes back to the female voice
I think The End is most likely genderless?
@@nriusx1832 sonic refers to it as "he"
@@lynxtopThe ancients also referred to the end as they/them and sage used "it' so there's no definitive gender
I would just assume based on the interview about the end having different interpretations and the fact that there's different incarnations of the entity, there is no definitive gender, which makes sense as it literally is named "The End" so it's more like a symbolic thing than it is an actual living person
@@lynxtop The End is an empty void. Its nothing actually. And its definitely alive even after the finale.

Yep. The End manages to make Dark Gaia and the Time Eater look like puppies
@@benbarnett5743 Well, there is the theory going around that both Dark Gaia and the Time Eater are physical manifestations of The End's hatred from its centuries of imprisonment.
@@lukasruston8618 Which is terrifying because it shows the scope of how powerful THE END truly is. This... thing has existed for a long time and is pretty much responsible for everything that happened in the series. Yet we still don't know much about it. Where did it come from? Who made it? What made it? Was it made by anyone/anything at all? Why does it destroy planets and why did it target the ancients? Are there more beings like it out there? What form did it take from Sonic's POV? So many questions that we may never get the answer to.
Btw, THE END kinda reminds me of Zero from SMG4. Both are mysterious eldritch monsters that manipulate a hero (Sonic and Melony respectively), were responsible for everything that happened within their respective series, were so powerful the heroes had to enter a super form to take them down, had uncertain dooms (Though in Zero's case, this was debunked as he returned in Revelations), have unknown origins (Although we did learn Zero's origins in Revelations), both had a personal history of destroying the worlds of previous heroes (The ancients and SMG1/SMG2 respectively), their plans involved the protagonist in some capacity (The END manipulates Sonic into freeing it while Zero wants to use Mario to be his new avatar), were so powerful that a character had to perform a heroic sacrifice (Sage had to sacrifice herself to stop Sonic while Melony had to perform a mercy kill on Axol to stop Zero [though this didn't kill Zero]), and both have the distinction of being extremely vile/serious villains in otherwise lighthearted works.

Sounds more like Queen Beryl and Eggman.
The End is a fundamental force. It is entropy, stillness, nothing. The decay and stagnation.
But like light and darkness, time and space, there is a balance to The End. The opposite… The Chaos. A Force that breathes life and creation.
The End is exactly like Dark Gaia. Both crave destruction and stillness.
Except The End is The Crafty One unlike Dark Gaia, who is more like Force of Nature.
I recently found out that The End was voiced by Cindy Robinson (Amy's voice actress) and Mike Pollock (Eggman's voice actress), this makes a lot of sense considering that it's Sonic and Sage who are facing him and that according to Kishimoto The End's appearance varies from person to person and depends on the perception who is seeing it.

I feel like this dialogue should’ve played during the final boss in final horizon

“And I didn’t like what I saw.”
When I got to this boss that line about sonic fighting gods and machines reminded me how much sonic had gone through. And yet he keeps fighting for what’s right. Never give up Sonic.
I personally didn't like the boss fight too much, since I struggle with the 80's shooter-style as a whole, but I really liked the existential dread, and I found it artistically satisfying. Not only that, but the concept of Sonic going up against cosmic odds and winning somewhat confirms the semi-popular head-canon that Sonic is his world's messiah/chosen one, which is one that i subscribe to!
"You have fought machines and gods. They were mighty, they were finite. *I am Infinite,* I am nothing."
The whole boss was her trash talking us and spamming
Please PLEASE be a long lasting villain
There's no way it's not coming back. What we fought was just one of it's possibly countless incarnations. The End will return in future games under different forms.
I would prefer if The End, Solaris, the Phantom Ruby and the Time Eater were actually all the same being taking different forms.
@@jamainegardner4193 I mean, you might not be wrong. The End did mention that it can take other forms. However, Solaris, Time Eater, and the Phantom Ruby all existed before The End was freed from Cyberspace. Maybe they’re but fractions of The End taken their own forms. After all, the seal on The End had been slowly weakening each time Sonic used the Chaos Emeralds, culminating in them gathering at the Starfall Islands where the seal was made. Sure, Solaris existed back when Sonic was only 5, but other people used the Chaos Emeralds prior.
@@jamainegardner4193 they are apparently finite beings however, as the end itself is infinite, but it'd be really cool if those types of villains shared some ancient or core similarity, I imagine they do as they're all pretty similar in theming and goals. maybe sonic defied fate so much that the end itself had to come and step in. as the ancients literally trapped the inevitability of their galaxies being consumed through their technology, which we know will happen to OUR earth in like billions of years. maybe that's what the villain is.
Wouldn't that make sages sacrifice less impactful?

I haven't read or heard lines like that since i read the end of the Wheel of Time book series. this goes real hard.
I’ve been thinking about it...and I realize that The End might be SEGA’s depiction of the embodiment of evil. Kind of like how Type Moon has Angra Mainyu, and how Nintendo has the Dark Star from M&L, Void Termina from Kirby, and even Ganon from Zelda(to an extent)
Giygas from EarthBound is also considered evil personified and is difficult to comprehend.

French version of The End monologue
I am curious if we’ll ever learn where the End came from. Like I am curious to know what exactly it is and where it came from or why it’s destroying planets.
From the sounds of it, the end is ultimately entropy. A universe spanning sentient black hole bent on erasing everything in its path. It doesn’t see it’s workings as malicious; it’s simply doing as it’s nature dictates. This could be interpreted as being the ultimate enforcement of cosmic order, rendering all things inert and static. Hence the CHAOS emeralds, which warp time, bend reality, and grant special powers to those that collect them. They embody life itself, which is chaotic elasticity which perfectly counters The End. Life vs death, and order vs chaos.
@@Savagewolver A perfect foil to Sonic too
@@Savagewolver I also agree with many that we'll see THE END again in a sequel. It's doubtful Sonic actually defeated it. At best, he just delayed the inevitable. THE END will probably come back with a plan for revenge
@@SavagewolverMy interpretation as well. Chaos emeralds break the cycle since they are the one violation of the law of conservation of energy and thus provide a means to oppose entropy.
Who's ready for this speech to actually be heard and seen when they re do the final boss
The End is, in my opinion, should've been the *Grand Finale* villain of all previous villains - the one the cause the Root of all problems in Sonic Universe in first place.
I mean it sort of is considering it forced The Ancients to go to earth which brought the chaos emeralds and if you know anything about them they have caused all sorts of disasters from Perfect Chaos to The Ark falling to The Black Arms nearly consuming everything to Solaris being reborn and probably more
So while it may not of caused everything it definitely caused a shit ton of issues by bringing the chaos emeralds
Really wish there was a mod out there that adds in subtitles to The End's monologue.
Or just removes it entirely.

Mortal. You have served your purpose. Now, face your end.
Unicron: who are you?
The end: i'm am the end
What’s interesting about The End taking a glance into Sonics mind is that he scoffs at all the Gods that Sonic has fought in the past. The reason why I find this interesting is that years ago it was confirmed that Sonic still has memories of fighting Solaris. That means it’s possible that The End might possibly be more powerful than the literal God of Time himself.
Well, I mean Solaris was able to nearly consume existence, but that's where THE END's power level gets murky. The thing that muddles this is when you think about their morphology. Solaris, while eldritch, had a physical and comprehensible that could be destroyed. THE END is an abstract entity with no clear appearance outside of what one perceives death to look like and has many incarnations.
In hindsight, now that the third and final DLC update has released, I think this is better.
Want to enjoy this monologue even more? Try playing songs like Demise of the Ritual (Shadow of the Colossus), Closing (Drakengard), or even Footsteps of Doom (Attack on Titan) over it. HOLY SHIT.
Fun Fact: The Final Horizon version of the End could be an inspiration of the Ender Dragon, they're both end beings, they both have a healing source (The End has a wire and the Dragon has crystals) and you destroy them.
When it said, “I am infinite.”, it wasn’t talking about Infinite, but it could’ve given a possible explanation for the Phantom Ruby.
Many people on the net waited for Sonic to end...
I don’t think they expected something like that to be represented in the game :l...
Ok I’m not even sure if I’m serious or not...
To be fair im trying to mount a theory on how this game is meant to represent exactly that, to state how sonic (as a series) was supposed to end a long time ago, but he persevered. And how The End is kinda this speaking. How they created a monster in the fandom, and how subsequently they kept trying to seal it, while the fandom always found a way to destroy the game, or tell its bad in some way (There's always someone telling how the games "were bad ever since SA1" or unleashed, or any game after S3&K.
But still they kept releasing games, sonic always ALIVE.
I belive when the end says "I was contained once. Once. Is that why?" May refer to how sonic mania and sonic Generations appeased the fandom and sorta "calmed it".
And then forces tryed to repeat generations but failed. Showing them clinging to a hope.
The End always comes, as it'll come to bite this very game later, as people already criticizes it.

This is also a perfect voice for Void Termina.
Absolutely fascinating bit of information: The End’s two English voice actors are Cindy Robinson and Mike Pollock, the voices of Amy and Eggman respectively. For the majority of the game, The End only uses the feminine voice it is introduced with. The more sinister masculine voice only manifests following its betrayal. It’s been confirmed that the form The End takes is unique for each person perceiving it, and that said form is manifested from that person’s memories and fears. If the same holds true for The End’s voice, it seems rather suspect that it uses two voices that are vaguely familiar to the cast. Did it choose a voice close to Amy’s in order to better deceive Sonic and company? Is the masculine voice similar to Eggman because that’s what they perceive as being evil? There’s no solid evidence to suggest it, but it’s fun to theorize!
I like the idea that THE END is speaking to Sonic like how the JD a.i. spoke to Raiden with the voices of the Colonel and Rose in Metal Gear Solid 2.
Infinte dlc confirmed lol
Ironic how they just announced all the upcoming free DLCs
There is no Infinite. There is the nothing
1:55 is what Thanos said.
(Disclaimer: this is my headcanon)
Before the events of Sonic Frontiers, Shadow had a vision: the most unstoppable force in the universe shall arise and decimate EVERYTHING, and Sonic, of all people, lies at the core of it all. The next day, Shadow told Rogue and Omega about what he saw, and they got so desperate to keep Sonic, Tails, and Amy from reaching Starfall Islands that they put themselves between Sonic and Tails’s workshop; not budging an inch without a fight. They failed, Sonic got away, and the rest is history.
"Then We'll Have To Save Everyone, Everywhere from it!"
As someone with hearing issues I thank you for taking the time to subtitle this
This is how I imagine Fecto Elfilis/Fecto Forgo sounding.
If Sonic Can Destroy The Everlasting Void Of The Universe, Then He Could Probably Beat Anything.
The End: 0:57
Infinite the jackal: WHAT?
Infinite is just a jerk who was too full of himself for his own good.
THE END is literally the indifferent cruelty of the universe.
You can imagine the look on my face when i learned The End was voiced by both Cindy Robinson AND MIKE FUCKING POLLOCK!!!!!
oh great, the Meatball thinks its Infinite now
Do you believe me if i said that The End is actually the Grim Reaper of the Sonic's universe?
God, it sounds like a Fire Emblem antag....and I love it!
bro lowkey spitting facts
He could've gotten another voice similar to the Fallen's or Black Doom's
I wish The End comes back as a sort of finale villain. This is the true big bad of Sonic, the one behind every event. Chaos, The Emeralds, the indirect creation of Shadow, everything. It has a cool concept, if it had a cooler design under its moon form, and had more personality, it would be a great villain.
Who knows if it's gone forever, but it's rampage is at an end... for now. I love the concept of enemies like this; Mr. Shadow from the Fifth Element, the Makuta from Bionicle, Unicron from Transformers. There is no enemy more satisfying to beat!
I don't think it's gone forever. If we are to consider how powerful the END is to Sonic's other foes (Although when we compare it to Solaris that's where it gets murky), I think it's likely that Sonic simply just delayed the inevitable. THE END will come back in a sequel since we still know very little about it.
@@benbarnett5743 You can't kill a force of nature itself.
@@metalmadness5851 Yep like SMG0, the END may be gone, but there's more to the story
@@benbarnett5743 That's... a really obscure reference... but yes, that seems about right.
@@metalmadness5851 The End kinda did remind me of SMG0 in a couple of ways. Both are ancient beings responsible for everything that happened in their respective series, both manipulate a character into doing their goals (Sonic and Melony respectively), both were so powerful a character had to enter a super form to even take them on, were responsible for the deaths of 2 characters (Sage and Axol respectively), destroyed the worlds of the greater scope paragons of their series (SMG0 destroyed the original world of SMG1 and SMG2 while THE END destroyed the Ancient's home world), and are known for being extremely vile villains in what are otherwise light hearted shows.
I quite like the doubled voice
2:30 Now or never!
0:09
The giant locusts in Jurassic World: Dominion.
When I heard this dialogue from the game while fighting the end sends chills to my bones
I loved this monologue so much but disappointed that the last boss battles were underutilised. I wouldn’t be mad if they brought back THE END in another game to do it justice
Note that the voice takes a distinctly feminine tone at the end? (No pun intended) I can’t wait till DLC 3 drops this winter. There’s sooooo many questions left to answer.
THE END shares the same voice actors as Amy and Eggman. It's probably communicating to Sonic using voices from his memories.
Anyone who plays fgo or reads anything in the nesuverse will know of something called type mercury aka ort. It's a long shot but what if this is inspired by ort. If not then the devs really hit the nail on the head.
Seeing as in fgo you're fighting a fragment of ort and it's still kicking your ass. While this is a mere incarnation it's sent. Act it's more like darkseid now that I think about it.
That would be neat. Sega does own FGO Arcade so
Ok Sega is listening us! Thats awesome
Culex from Super Mario RPG, but his prey, the Chozo, called him what translates to “All End”.
This is giving me Destiny vibes, and in a good way.
The Witness? I can imagine The Witness saying this during the Raid
@@Hunter0623 yes
@@LockeLynxHere after watching The Final Shape launch trailer, now i really expect The Witness to say this in the raid
(Breath of the Wild Spoilers) Dark Beast Ganon's Monologue + Subtitles
What a lot of people got it wrong is about "No matter what form I take, the end comes for you all." He is not saying that it will emerge in a new form. He's saying the end, as a concept, is inevitable. One day all things will end. He is speaking this sentence with him being an abstraction, not another physical form.
In Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic states that he's okay with everything ending one day, because that's what makes life worth living.
Thing is, there's a massive difference between a life coming to a natural end, and a life cut tragically short by a world-shattering calamity. The latter must be stopped no matter what.
This sounds like stuff Unicron would say.
Just amage this flying above the world and saying this as it's on crash collision with earth Spooky 💀
So not only is it a being that wants to destroy everything, it is completely stupid. A diluted monster unable to understand and be content with what is bountiful. To live...
This is pretty terrifying!
imagine if the final boss turned into or used Amy and eggman and their friends to fight sage and sonic sense they are important people to them xoox would really eventuate the whole pulling memories and turning them into reality motive they tried to implicate in the game xoxo
